Most people will never understand how truly difficult it is to pull of what he just did. Wow. His alternate picking speed is off the chart... and then he played the whole song in a different tuning, so he had to rearrange the entire thing just to pull that off. Kudos, sir!
I've heard Rhett play this live. My jaw still aches from hitting the floor so much. Dr. Butler is more amazing in person than on youtube. Which is saying something.
This guy is quick to laugh at himself and make the audience at ease to laugh with him. But...he is a TOP NOTCH guitarist. He adds a comic flair but he’s the real deal. Great playing man!
I would pray every time, too. But then again I wouldn't even have the stones to utter the words "Cliffs of Dover" while holding a guitar in my hands. It's amazing that something with so much unforgiving brute-force technicality would come out sounding so light and bouncy and fun from your acoustic. Very nicely done.
I appreciate the difficulty level of this, plus the pressure to perform while being filmed live no less. Plus, it's harder to shred on an acoustic guitar. Bravo!
I think what would help Rhett out greatly is to practice restraining himself when making mistakes. Of course having performed live in front of an audience myself I know it is very difficult not to. But his notes weren't out of tune or anything just simple slip ups on very difficult pieces. Its fair to say most people wouldnt even notice the mistake anyway, and those guitar players who did would still be in awe of his ability anyway!
@RushRadi0 I was just about to write the exact same thing! It's clips like these that I say: Thank G-d for the internet! This guy is incredible. They are both 2 of my favorite songs.
This is great and all but it's really off-putting when you make some sort of sex noise every time you make a mistake. 99% of people wouldn't even notice the mistake if you didn't draw attention to it.
Not to mention its a super human feat even with mistakes. Just like Evgeny Kissing playing La Campanella at the speed of light. Only the most anal retentive of window shopping perfectionists would call out his mistakes in that performance.
It's more physical than intentional, a bit like when tennis players scream hitting the ball. You just get frustrated for the mistake and the sound comes out, it's part of how he is, it means he knows he's not perfect and keeps practicing to make it better.
He may be playing in front of really experienced professional people so they for sure hear his mistakes so if he pointed them out maybe makes him feel more comfortable. I've seen play the song without any mistakes before! Everyone thinks I'm awesome at guitar that knows me I'm not close to this good!! Haha.
It takes a lot of courage to admit your mistakes. I love his humble attitude. Imagine if Kanye West had this attitude..he wouldn't have started making music in the first place.
May be he is amazing but he actually talk too much, plus too much showoff or extra-smart. There's a saying, "pretty face with ugly personality" that's what works here. No hard feelings only irritation.
Dude! It's call entertaining. Ever hear about that? How 'bout "warming up to the audience" or "letting your personality shine on through"? The guy is awesome! I suspect ... you aren't.
Most people will never understand how truly difficult it is to pull of what he just did. Wow. His alternate picking speed is off the chart... and then he played the whole song in a different tuning, so he had to rearrange the entire thing just to pull that off. Kudos, sir!
And on an acoustic...

3:52 "And here comes the hard part!" He says as if everything up to that point wasn't already stupidly difficult.
Amazing.
This tune is hard enough on a Strat!
"Here comes the hard part..." and he rocks the hell out of it.

This deserves WAY more than 94k views. Rhett, I hope this video pops off one day brother!
This has to be harder than even the original easily🥵🥵🥵

This man was born acoustic 🙌
Holy cow, telling a story and tuning at the same time!
Fantástico! Gracias! 🎉❤
words will never describe your efforts here ...........cheer's from a small town named " Tulsa"

Wow, that came out awesome!
I appreciate the difficulty level of this, plus the pressure to perform while being filmed live no less. Plus, it's harder to shred on an acoustic guitar. Bravo!
Ok, you’re crazy, And I like your courage. I just added this performance to my BEST PERFORMANCES videos list on TH-cam. Amazing!

As a guitar player, I found it funny, because he’s clearly good as fuck, but he’s kinda showing the crowd he’s human as well lol
JUST AWESOME!
Fantastic version...Bravo Rhett!
Love those harmonics at 4:23 nice job man, u sound amazing! :)
Chill people, let the man talk if he wants to lol. Great cover!

Stunning! Does Eric actually know about this version and the story behind it?
Excelent !!
really nice ;)
@RushRadi0 I was just about to write the exact same thing! It's clips like these that I say: Thank G-d for the internet! This guy is incredible. They are both 2 of my favorite songs.
Sheer brilliance
And here I am having trouble arranging Baa Baa Black Sheep for guitar
He's the next phill keaggy! Hard song indeed
Nice!!!
The coolest things ever!!!
daaaaaaaaahhh!! :V
wow amazing...
Wow!
Even the talking at the beginning was talented 😆
Nobody gives a SHIT how difficult a song is UNLESS you are a musician.
@voidref oh yeah he is so versatile, playing two guitars at the same time, for Christ sake
sin duda, un gran guitarrista
Close enough for jazz.
Un serial Killer !!!!!magnifique!
Wow is right.
Nice
Talk about a dead crowd. Geez amazingly done
He plays it like he plays Guitar Hero on expert mode
Wooooow

SEX NOISES LMFAO
Actually it's a really hard song. Not even Eric can play it without mistakes so... Just enjoy your performance.
He's the dude from "friends". Joey?
That’s a modern day Roman
@voidref lol! thats what impressed you?
strange narrations but fucking godly version
He may be playing in front of really experienced professional people so they for sure hear his mistakes so if he pointed them out maybe makes him feel more comfortable. PICK OF DESTINY jocking fellas stop hating
1:55 is where the guitar starts.
A shame he doesn't know live performance rule number one. Don't point out your mistakes.
That rule goes away when you are actually good haha!
It takes a lot of courage to admit your mistakes. I love his humble attitude. Imagine if Kanye West had this attitude..he wouldn't have started making music in the first place.
@@oblivion1206 Kanye is the best hip hop artist to ever exist , try some new music once in your life lol
@@Ash-fm6ym Not sure if troll or 🤡
starts at 1:55
the actual cliff of dover is 2:50
dude fuckin decyphered and rewrote this song that shit takes talent
I hope people realize how this is immensely difficult to do on an acoustic.
Video starts at 1:55
Skip to 1:56 to see the song.
1:55 for song
does the camera man have epilepsy?
If Ed Norton (Art Carney) and Joey Tribbiani had a baby...
it seems you are playing with the flesh of your thumb instead of the nail
Is it the same with the other fingers also?
@hainum23 It might be sarcasm. ;)
Gente vcs tem certeza que o slash e o melhor tocador de guitarra ¿?¿?¿?¿?¿?¿???????¿¿¿¿
+Ezequias Pedroso da Silva Pedroso kkk pois é...
playing starts at 1:54
The way this is mic’ed or the fact it is on acoustic doesn’t do the song justice-it’s not dynamic enough.
Brilliant playing, but the talking kind of takes away from it a bit. Great chops and interpretation, though!
Pee Wee Herman is a great guitar player!!
@voidref Pretty easy with a tuner attached to the guitar..
He's really good..but damn is he a cocky mofo haha
That's a lot of talking! I gave up after fast forwarding
I don't think Cliffs of Dover works well on acoustic...
andristic I dislike your comment, but I like Bob ross
So I like your comment
Skip all of the BS to 2:50.....
Great player. But he talks too much.
May be he is amazing but he actually talk too much, plus too much showoff or extra-smart. There's a saying, "pretty face with ugly personality" that's what works here. No hard feelings only irritation.
Nah he wasn't showing off! It was a great act, in fact he said he was nervous, how can that mean that he is showing off???
Dude! It's call entertaining. Ever hear about that? How 'bout "warming up to the audience" or "letting your personality shine on through"? The guy is awesome! I suspect ... you aren't.
Great song , great cover on acoustic, wow !
