My kids are adults and I never had a bed wetter but I wanted to thank you for sharing this anyways. So many kids suffer with this problem and it can really affect them. Imagine never being able to go to or have a sleepover with friends. I really appreciate that even though you are a channel primarily about couponing, you aren't afraid to address some issues that are touchy in order to help your subs out. You rock!

We thought we had tried everything but I never knew this exsisted! He is so happy!! My story sounds a lot like yours! Mine has already paid for itself I figure. And really kinda priceless in what you get out of it in terms of confidence and self esteem!

Hi Colin... I'm a pediatrician and I tell my patients/parents who are using a wet alarm that they will use it for probably several months at the most. Then the problem is solved. After that, I tell the parents to bring a flyer to the office so they can "re-sell" the alarm to another family (usually at about half-off) - our office takes care of cleaning the alarm for resell. This works so well, as some folks just don't have the money to pay for a good alarm (the good one are around $100), but they might be able to afford $40 or $50. I also find that parents who are selling the alarms often give great deals because they understand what the family/child is going through. You might want to talk to your pediatrician/family doc to see if they would consider helping you resell your alarm to someone else (and hey, if you sell it for $50, you just saved 50%!!!). --John

I hate wetting the bed it's horrible you go to sleep all cosy in a nice dry bed knowing you have to make the most of it coz its going soon then waking up at 3 in the morning in a soaking wet bed cold, damp and makes you wanna cry tbh and hearing the silence of the house as everyone else sleeps soundly in their dry comfy warm beds then having to strip the bed and dig out a new matress cover as well as the odd duvet covers dreaming of a good nights sleep then finally finishing and realizing you have been changing your bed for hours and in only a few more it will be time to wake up I also have trouble getting to sleep so I end up falling asleep super late anyway then getting ready at stupid o'clock in the morning so when the others wake up and get ready I have nothing to do then I am constantly stopping myself from nodding off and I'm always pale and have black circles under my eyes my grandad always calls me sick I always put on blush and concealer to try and hide how I feel tired, weak, grumpy I get shouted at for being grumpy and for being "lazy" but I'm really just tired when I get home from a long day all I want is my bed this happens to me every night and I wish it would stop...
BUT IM NOT WAKING UP TO THAT THING!!!

I know it happened every night, and then if you go to a sleepover and either tell them or risk it. Every time this happens I fix my sheets and the go and cry. This is a really stressful thing and I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. This is one the worst things ever and it’s something I really worry about. I think about what about when I’m older, and get married, and sleep in the same bed as my husband, also what about my kids, will they have the same problems. People really don’t understand what it’s like to be a teenager still pissing the bed. That the end of my rant

Yes! Thankyou so much for this video! I've heard a little about the alarms but wasn't sure how they worked. We have an 8 yr old who struggles with this issue. We've tried a prescription med recently that was sort of working but then of course, insurance quit covering. Then you really question if you want him on meds anyway...I'm going to share this video with my husband and definitely look into purchasing the alarm! So glad you've shared your positive experience!

    Hi, Collin,
My son is developmentally delayed, and he wet the bed till he was 16. We tried several different 'pee watches' without permanent success. The watches were sort of fragile, the connections to the underwear would break, and one of the devices used a really weird battery that was very difficult to find, and expensive if you did. Finally, my son just got old enough that the last watch was successful in helping him kick the habit. This is a huge topic for the families that are affected. Thanks so much for posting this info.

Oh TY so much for this info. All 3 of my kids wet the bed. My oldest stopped when she was 9. However my other 2 still have accident once in awhile. My 12 year old is almost completely broke of it. She goes weeks sometimes months but still has accidents. Now my 10 year old has them more frequent. Phsyciatrist told me that all bed wetters wet the bed cause they have been sexualy abused or had a huge trauma in there life. I told the lady she's nuts and that they better do more studying about it. Cause I wet the bed and had a happy childhood growing up. Same as my kids. I never heard of this bedwetting alarm. I will definitely have buy 2.

I Was a bed wetter for yeas as a child. Thank God I was never punished for it! I have weak bladder and sometimes even as adult, I have to moniter my self. I always hated those parents that punished their kids for bed -wetting. As though it was a purposeful act. It's not! Most people grow out of it in time. But, if they don't, they learn how to take care of it themselves. ---It's a very embrassing condition. But , not a un-common one.

They also grow out of it.. We know our son stopped when he was 13.. We got a washable pad that went under the sheet, but that had to be washed daily. Never saw the disposable sheets. I think putting on the Pull-ups just trains them that it is OK to pee in your pants.. Start early.. Sleepovers, no way, he missed a lot of fun and they feel horrible.. TFS Colin this little might have helped us if we would have known..

My brother used to wet the bed, and like your son, he's a very sound sleeper. To make matters worse he's also half deaf - when he hears a noise in his sleep he rolls over onto his good ear so he doesn't hear it anymore (inherited both the deafness and rolling over habit from my dad). My parents tried pullups/goodnights for years. I know it was embarrassing for my brother, my parents, my sisters, and myself. We didn't know anyone else going through this. My parents had had a slight problem when potty training him as well - he would get so focused on what he was doing that he would ignore/just not feel the need to go to the bathroom and would have accidents - so I think my parents thought it was a similar problem at first. I was young at the time, so I don't remember what brand it was, but my parents eventually got a pad for my brother to sleep on (I believe it was doctor recommended or something) - though I do remember it was a plasticky kind of material and it had sensors on it. It would emit an alarm sound when he wet the bed. At the time, my parent's room was down the hall, so I know that my mom got up a few times each night. They did the same thing, took him to the bathroom and helped change him before getting him back to bed. I don't remember how long it took, but it did work.

@@baxter1896 I agree with you--- do Not rely on protection! Instead, the person should be Forced to risk Ruining his/her nightclothes and sheets. And he/she should be Forced to Stay in dirty and/or wet clothing for most of the night/day!! It does Not matter if it was an Accident and Out of one's control. The young man/young woman should Still be punished and humiliated anyway. Yes, this is Unfair, but hey, life is Unfair. Toughen Up and Shut up and put up with it!! This is how many of us were raised, how we were brought up.

What my husband and I did to our 3 year old daughter was before we would go to sleep we would pick her up and put her on the toilet to empty her bladder and then we set our alarm to like 3am and we would go and pick her up and go put her on the toilet and wait until she would pee. She would be half asleep of course but I think that because she did wake up half way and emptied her bladder, that's what helped her to start waking up on her own and going to pee by herself. I don't know but thats what we did and she stopped wetting the bed and had only a few accidents since. Hope that helps.

My son didn't stop wetting the bed until age 14, my daughter until age 12. They just slept too hard! I did expensive programs, drugs for when they'd have overnight company, cut water intake, etc. Both my husband's father and sister were teenage bed wetters. One day they just stopped on their own. It was very difficult on them both and on their entire family (as my husband and I would rotate trying to wake them up in the night - never successfully!).

I know I’m late but I just looked this up and just clicked on this one, I still wet the bed and I’m 11 I just gave up and still don’t believe in myself I wear pull-ups to bed every night I don’t have very many sleepovers cause if my friend doesn’t know I have to tell them and I don’t know if they will accept that so I cry a lot at night and during the day I wish I could stop but nothing works I have tried many things 😔😔😔

I know im not the only one thinking that the pee alarm will probably scare more than pee out of a kid when he/she are in a dead sleep and wakes up to that screaming sound. Heck, it would scare me. LOL. And by the time u wake and run to their room, its too late... Its a river by that time LOL!

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts with us. In the experience in the video, they did not wake up easily to any sounds. Therefore, the baby monitors were helpful.
