I tried to never miss this show. As a San Antonio Police officer my co workers and I used to put
names of each character with one of our detective staff. I can't imagine a police officer being
put off or offended by this show. It was spot on most of the time.
If you didn't care for it at the time, you should have just changed the channel, problem solved.

The title of this video ("Controversies That Took NYPD Blue off the Air") is completely misleading. The show ended after 12 seasons, and the decision to end it had NOTHING to do with any controversies. And the producer/narrator of this video says exactly that. So, why post a fake description? Really pretty lame.

I just today finished rewatching the entire 12 seasons of NYPD Blue - for the 2nd time. What a magnificent series!. And from what I can tell from talking to various cops over the years, also the most realistic about law enforcement. Kudos to its creators and to everyone who ever worked on it, both in front of and behind the camera. And special thanks to Dennis Franz for embodying one of the most memorable characters to ever appear on TV.

NYPD was one of the best cop shows ever. It was gritty, it was real and it was ground breaking. There were multiple situations going on simultaneously in the precinct. Characters were developed and evolving regularly. The police were out in the streets and the bosses were involved when needed. Today's police drama rely on the precinct commander to do everything and be everywhere. Shows like ENY are not realistic. The squad room is so antiseptic that you can eat off of the floor in ENY. That is in stark contract to NYPD blue where everything was drab and often dirty but you knew thats how the squad room is in real life. Even Jimmy Smits, a big part of NYPD blue, seems to be just mailing it in on ENY. Yes I miss NYPD Blue and have been watching it on the streaming services.

It made our society more coarsened. The object is to push the boundaries then sooner or later you don't have any. What boundaries do you suggest we stop at? Are we going to go to full hardcoreporn? We got to bring kids into this? Kids and kids having sex with adults around the kids? Is that where we going to go because if you're going to get rid of all boundaries, that's where it ends up. Take a look at what our society was before that era and take a look at the society today which is disintegrating morally. Are we to have any boundaries of any kind? The boundaries were much more distinct back then and their society was definitely better overall. In which case is much as I hate the FBI, they should investigate you for things that you probably should not be having on your computer.

I wish the show had continued for at least the full season to see the squad function with Andy in command. Also, it was a disappointment that after Connie's day before maternity leave was the last we would see of her. After that we *heard* that she had the baby but never got to see the family again for many episodes. This seemed odd since Andy's home life was a regular aspect we saw on the show.

  • @samadams6487
    @samadams6487 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Pushing boundaries is not particularly a good thing. Take a look at the coarseness of our society today. Pushing boundaries is not a particularly good thing and if you take a look at the difference between our society before that era and after you can see that it is not a particularly good Trend that were on. Do not even think that should be any boundaries? Shall We Now go to Total full frontal nudity, actual real penetrative sex, should we start having naked children and kids having sex with you the other kids or adults? Is that where you want to go with this? Cuz if we're going to get rid of all boundaries that's where we're headed. Where do you want to end this the object was not to produce particularly good television put the push the boundaries and you keep on going into this direction and I don't know why and you still haven't explained yourself Mr. Tim Blane. You need to have some internal censorship here. I'm volunteering my services here because clearly you don't have the ability to do so. I told you I'm going to call you out every time you go in a direction you should not be. That show was a disgrace. It doesn't matter that they had realistic episodes portraying realism, they could have done it without the language and certainly without nudity. I should like to point out that in real life we don't ever see other people naked or ever having sex. So the audience family doesn't have to be involved in that. People keep forgetting that when it comes to television programming, the producers and the people airing the shows are guests in other people's home and there's a certain level of decorum that should be present in other people's homes. And you have to go to the most common denominator in terms of what is acceptable in other people's homes. You need to go with the least offensive. If you can't produce the show without vulgarity, nudity or sex, well then I have to say this a problem with creativity then.
And they actually in the end brought a child into this. There should have been serious charges resulting in people going to prison. A child!
The same can be said of the abuse of Brooke Shields as a preteen and underaged teen. Her mother may have been fine about it and of course it is affected psychologically Ms Shields herself Natchez no idea how inappropriate all that was.
Once again you have to go into that direction don't you Mr. Tim ( pervert) Blane. You getting off on this prurient material? You just can't stay on the straight-and-narrow can you?
Tell me if you can just what social conventions won't you be willing to break and destroy? What barriers won't you cross? Penetrative sex, kidnude or having sex with other kids or even adults? Are there no limits with you? After all you certainly might try to justify it by saying that those things actually happened in real life but none fortunately see that, but maybe you think we should see that and that it should be normalized. Is that who you are?
You seem to confuse freedom and license reminds me of a line from John Milton: " Freedom they cry, when license they mean." You don't seem to understand the difference between the two.
Personally I'm looking forward to the collapse of the society because we'll fix it and will eliminate this garbage and re-establish both our constitutional republic and conventional judeo-Christian morality, something apparently you abhor.

It was a great show, but I think that it often was too easy on police brutality. Sipowicz, especially, liked to "tune up" suspects. And, for the viewer, since the police were portrayed as always being right, and the suspects were scum, it became too easy to excuse the brutality because "they deserved it." Plus, the portrayal of defense attorneys who, after all, are simply trying to insure due process for their clients, was usually negative. This is probably how the police see them, but I think that, as good as the show was, it gave the cops an easy way out.

Always loved this show. Watched it religiously when it was on and in syndication. It could make me cry my brains out i.e. the episode where Bobby Simone, (Jimmy Smitts) dies. Or it could make me scream laughing i.e. when Andy puts that tape recorder in Gibson's office next to his parrot saying douchebag! What makes me so pissed off at cable channels now is that none of them show it anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love Law & Order, but my god it's on 3 different channels all week and weekends. Yet not one of these channels plays Blue. I truly hope that one of them picks up Blue because I miss this show so much to this day!

The reason I have quit watching a number of 'modern' tv shows is they have become too political. It seems the entertainment industry has forgotten its purpose is ENTERTAINMENT and pushes a liberal, anti-Christian political agenda even when it has absolutely nothing to do with the plot.
