My first drift car is a BMW 318 Compact, i still have it at the moment, it has a little 1.8 140hp engine, single flywheel, hydro, hella lowered, welded diff, interiour stripped, sparco racing seats and bmw z3 short shifter, building an turbo 2.5L engine right now with friends to swap in the future when this engine gives up, but it's so good to drift/learn, parts are cheap as hell, i got a whole front replaced for 150bucks, painted it with baby blue spraypaint cans which came out pretty good so the damage is easy to cover for a bmw. The compact can use the parts for the front from a station version e36 so it's hella easy to find them!
