The thing with Grass is that it is in a way self moderating. If 60 card Grass decks rise to the top of the meta, they then get worse, as the mirror match negates the advantage of getting the big mill from having 20 extra cards in deck. I will shake up the meta, but won't make up to much of the meta due to the way it kinda checks itself
And in mirror matches the player going second gets an innate advantage since the player going first will be milling through other methods, making the opponent's grass live again, as well as making thrust live to enable more consistent grass access
Playing 60 cards always forces your opponent to think that you might have grass in your hand, they might hold their ash blossom when you dont even have grass in hand. That allows you to do some combo on tear or vampire, milling good cards and its too late for the ash. Mind games.
Vendread zombies abuse this very well also. They have explosive combos and crazy boards ending in zombie archfiend, Vendread executioner and chaos angel. Its a non-targeting non-detruction by card effect and can't be destroyed by battle board. Its been very fun to play.
I’m a dedicated tearlament player, when the ban list hit, nothing changed for tearlament, but grass being a mill 20 opened up a new way to play the deck. I really like rainbow bridge as it can begin to bury the opponent, basically can search imsety if it’s milled. You’re so right about the need to play correctly when resolving grass into an established board. One game my opponent scooped immediately after I milled 15-20, but I still would have had to think hard to find the finishing combinations. Hope to play against you in a duel someday.
Im one of those “scoop when grass resolve” but mostly because I just struggled through a snake eyes build just for them to mill a bunch of Horus and set gold sarc. Its brutal out here playing the “worst deck” in YGO (ursarctics)
Honestly: the only card probably keeping Grass even somewhat in check in the TCG is Shifter. I don't follow the OCG really, but i'd imagine Shifter is less impactful in that format since you can't resolve Shifter after drawing into it with Maxx "C".
Could there be a test for a 60 card horus fluffal tear list? Toy vendor is broken. And at least in tcg you can use cross sheep to fuse with tear cards and get back dolphin or penguin for bahamut shark for toad
When you show the cards you’re talking about, the visual with the black bars makes it where I can’t pause and read the card text at all. Just a suggestion would be to make it to where the viewer can read the cards you’re talking about whenever by pausing.
Grass would work very well in a Wight deck which powers up Skull Servant King the more skull servants there are in the graveyard. Unfortunately this card's price is too expensive for me as it is a $30 and up card which is a price point that I don't want to pay. Well at least I have Wight Lord as an option in my skull servant deck.😂
I really think infernoid has potential as a grass deck compared to the other options since it has access to some powerful cards and effects - instant fusion - decatron can dump a monster negate to protect from nib or ash blossom on grass or other starters - noids in general with their dd crow effects are pretty good - snake eye engine still legal - fiendsmith link 2 can fusion summon the level 1 infernoid - thrust can search grass going second or set void feast going first - void imagination acts like a shaddoll fusion to break boards - fire attributes so no weakness to bystial like tear or lightsworn Overall lots of positives but at the cost of bricks which in hindsight alot of other grass decks have those similar issues. Was thinking maybe some 50~ish card infernoid deck might be good once optimized
the problem with infernoid is that it feels like you are playing 60 card snake so just diluted snake eye sure the payoff is good but without opening grass and sometimes even when opening grass infernoids arent good enough cards by themselves sadly. they seem good on paper because they can abuse both grass, fiend stuff and fire stuff but in reality all of their monsters apart from decatron and evil are garbage
@@geometrydashtzolkin1025 im comparison to actual snake eye decks for sure, but as grass decks go whether theyre diluted snake eyes or not, that is a bonus compared to other grass decks that dont have access to this powerful support engine.

I tried building grass in tcg but playing 50-60 cards with 1 grass feels terrible when your opponent can be on 40 with 3 shifter. Even if they’re not on shifter stuff, decks like tearlament feel pretty much objectively better at 40 in the tcg.
@@HopeP0H that's still up to debate and testing with how fresh the banlist is, but as far as grass decks go branded is most likely the best one you could be playing since it's basically a better version of the second best grass deck in master duel while the first best is severely hindered
