Same for me! And I started as a giga casual whose endgame was heroic dungeons. Very excited to finally be able to do the raids when they're actually current content.
Idk why but I love cataclysm more than the previous expansions. The leveling is a perfect balance between retail and classic. The original map is still packed with people leveling giving the feeling of community
I dont know why but these calming cinematic videos of wow makes the game feel alot better, i wish i could take a moment to just appreciate the world of Azeroth 😢but you know that the sub timer is ticking, only got so much time.
You are paying that subscription TO EXPERIENCE THE GAME. It doesn't matter what you do... So long as you feel like you are getting your moneys worth. How excited I was when we could fly in azeroth so I could explore the world I'd been playing in for years... I miss when it felt like that.
I've been playing a Dwarf Shaman and I have to say, I forgot how boring leveling in Cataclysm is. It's almost impossible to die. Mobs go down real fast and it seems like I can only get about half of the quests done in a zone before I move on to the next one because you level so fast. There were so many viable options to compete with. My biggest complaint about retail and all their proclaimed "build variety talent tree" shit, is that you still cant build anything like you could in Cata.
I'm glad the people who like this expansion are able to experience it but It's beyond frustrating that they took resources away from the SoD team to work on it. Taking from something new with potentially unlimited possibilities to work on something that had It's chance 13 years ago makes no sense. Now, both versions are suffering because neither are getting the full attention they need. I'm giving Cata a hard pass, everything after Wrath is Retail lite.
Ok, let me play the devil's advocate and list things i didn't like in cataclysm (for disclaimer, i am not a cataclysm hater, in fact i did love the expansion, but nobody's perfect) - leveling was made way too easy. Our character felt way too powerful at low level, easily taking on multiple mob at the time. It was also the expansion blizzard got rid of all elite and group quest. - Tier 12 was short in boss. Firelands only had 7 bosses. Plus, this is me but i didn't like the firelands landscape, lots of rock and lava, kinda like molten core 2.0. Boss mechanics were very imaginative and fun though. - Tier 13 was bad. It's not that it was too long, it was a bad raid, period. Raid felt disjointed, had to take flight to multiple bosses, and a teleport at time. I prefer to progress in a raid organicly, i don't like teleport in general. Re use of a lot of location from wrath (dragon blight, coldara) and the last 2 encounters, spine and madness, were disappointing. repetitive and you don't even fight the boss, only globules and tentacles. - Hydrid specs were no longer possible, you had to spec 31 points in one tree before specing into another tree.
I think your point about classes filling each others roles more and more, but also fleshing out those classes more is extremely contradictory. Yeah, Vanilla classes were pretty barren in terms of PvE rotations, but they didn't step into each others roles much in terms of class fantasy. You KNEW what a mage had to offer. You knew you'd love having a mage for free water and food. Then having them polymorph. And the TPs after. You KNEW an Ele shaman was gonna burst the shit out of things in dungeons, but be OOM and useless in raids. You knew a geared Warrior was gonna take 0 damage and give 0 fucks about your healers mana. You knew having a boomy druid was gonna be complete ass, and he might steal some of your drops But you played around that. You looked for the strengths of ones class, because you knew that despite not being the best at something, you knew that player was living their class fantasy. They felt UNIQUE. Youre mistaking a well balanced game/ expansion with it meaning everyone has the same strengths and weaknesses. You were having trouble picking a class, because you knew the choice really doesn't matter. Despite adding different rotations, more buttons, new toys, etc. It just feels like I'm missing so much, no matter what I play. 'Cata's not that bad! It's better than people remember! Instead of a content drought, we're getting a content flood!' Droughts and floods are both deadly and destructive. Keep letting Blizzard shove whatever they want down your throat though, and keep promoting it as better than people think it will be. Just because we polish shit, doesn't make it not shit.

I just dislike the realm unbalance which makes open world pvp impossible. It is a problem since wrath as they offered realm transfers and every player was switching like a sheep to the realm with the most players of its fraction. And the quest design changes alot so it is not classic anymore, which is okay if you like it that way. But Questing gets way to easy for my taste :s in the real Classic you had to be carefull how you pull mobs
People who act like "vanilla is so good cus paladin has no kick, no taunt, ClasS iDenTIty" are delusional. Vanilla was great due to its world building, sense of progression, but the class gameplay was shit the entire time. Cataclysm is a step in the right direction since WoTLk was quite bland too, and so was TBC, in terms of gameplay. They are literally just Vanilla 2.0 and 3.0. Cata had some great revamps to classes and they feel great to play now. MoP is cata 2.0 in this regard, where every class is basically perfect in terms of gameplay. The paladin changes kill it for me. My main feels like trash now. I either have to find a new main or play a class that just feels wrong
Archeology Pre Bis is a Problem.
You literally don't need any of that to clear the first raid unless you're racing for world second (since, yknow, world first happened a long time ago and you have guides now)
you don't need it. the pre-bis boa's won't do anything to hinder your clear of heroic raids. if you think so its just a skill issue
Useless video, unless you're a fellow raid-brain. Completely misses that people disliked Cataclysm because of the marked changes to the leveling and quest completion experience, which had actually been the focus of the game until then.
Hi! I'm not a veteran player but I had fun with SoD in phase 1 and I was thinking about starting Cataclysm, could you elaborate on what changed in terms of leveling and quests? How is it different from the SoD experience?
solo/leveling was fun, Pugging at end game made me uninstall. Zoom zoom mentality is cringe, no thanks.
I am going to wait for Dragon Flight Classic
fuck no cata was the end of wow
The problem for me in world of warcraft cata is : the farming daily archeology, fishing,.... it's bad experience
Still better than raid prep in vanilla-Classic lmao.
Its not mandatory. Actually I dont remember any mandatory activity in Cata, except weekly cap of pve and pvp points.
cata doa
Im still going to pass on Cata wake me up when I can play Legion once more
@@johncenaa4479 legion sucks
this is cataclysm propaganda and I'M ALL FOR IT, BEST EXPANSION
No, it's broken and full of bugs. its should be free
Sounds like someone who hasn’t played and just listens to trolls on Reddit, game is free if you play it, buy a token with gold
Has a few bugs but it’s only pre patch. Still a ton of fun and definitely not broken.
@Dotblooded dude its so buggy i cant summon my goblin turbo trike mount because i recieve an error message sayin Requires Horde... im 51 goblin arms warrior
U got complete game, released in 2010. Why its broken in 2024? Why no class changes, there are so many "C" Tier specs (pve and pvp).
Idk, I'd love to play Cata, but I HATE the dungeon finder feature. If it was just a automatch feature which helps you get groups exclusively I'd probably love the feature, but because it offers rewards and teleports you I can't stand it.
@Joe-no7gs it also saves us time that can be spent on other stuff
Cata is literally an improved version of wrath. Gameplay is fun, every class feels good, PvP is amazing. People just remember dragon soul content drought and start hating on whole xpack
Bro got paid hard by blizz
The answer is... NO unless you like lvling Ults, go play retail at this point
Hard pass
Just go to retail instead of playing cata at this point lol
same
Parsing culture = shit game, waste of time.
It's insane how much youtubers are glazing Blizzard, they could have dropped Shadowlands classic and you people would still hype it to oblivion. Clown world
Looking at my video history do you really think I'm a blizzard coomer? Most clown comment this year 😂
@@MetaGoblin It is irrelevant whether you are or not, at worse you're a blizzard andy and at best you're riding the hype train to farm TH-cam views. Either way you're part of the problem
You really woke up and decided to act like this. These spaces are better without weirdos like you
@@KingCofi ok doomer
@@KingCofi I know man people are so immoral for having ambition and wanting to make a living fuck those guys. Everyone should just live in a mud hit and eat beans.
you should never
No and just play retail
single player experience
Not classic anymore. This is now retail. Everything completely changed at this point. Most not in a good way
It's just a worse version of Retail. There's really no functional difference between the two versions, except retail has Pet Battles, M+ and additional Raid difficulty.
Which are complete shite features and is many of the reasons I hate retail. Too many THINGS. Nothing is special.
@@sirnicholibraden86 The game truly became worse over time, in a lot of ways...
Yeah I get having TBC and wrath classic, but Cats is way closer to retail than classic.
Staying in Classic Era, and not SoD.
