I absolutely loved this album! My dad only allowed gospel music in his house and this one had a LOT of soul. I love every song on it. And still to this day I sing "will there be any stars in my crown?"
Wonderful! Have loved Ray Stevens for many years. Saw him live at Gardner Webb College, Boiling Springs, NC, in the mid-70s when my husband was a student there. It was so great, & he is still a great performer!
This song came from one of the greatest Gospel albums of all time. Stevens put a mix of new and traditional Gospel songs that have stood the test of time for over 50 years.
This was among the first Ray Stevens songs I heard. As a teenager I had the 'Greatest Hits' cassette tape and this was one of the songs on the collection. The album with a model and Ray dressed up as Bonnie and Clyde on the cover.
My mama an her sisters sang this song and recorded it on a cassette tape, I’d give both my top an bottom false teeth to find that tape to listen to their beautiful harmonizing voices again ❤️😢
I just love this music. It reminds me of my parents. They enjoyed this kind of music! I sure miss them... I'll never be too old to wish they were still here.
Oh, this is one of my all-time favourite Ray numbers. And I love to try my luck at singing it, too. I murder it every time I open my mouth to sing...but then, the Bible says "...make a joyous NOISE unto the Lord," doesn't it? Well, I'm only doing what the good book says...'cause it sure is a noise!!! (But it's a beautiful song, nonetheless!)
In college there was a wipperwill that was outside our dorm window, I was out trying to find it in the day time. Our dorm manager was watching me from his window. He yelled at me and said if you find that bird let me know and I will have it taken care of!
Gospel music may be underrated on this planet, but in Heaven you will ♥it. In searching for this particular song I clicked on a lot that I never listened all the way through. However, this one I played through twice. I think that says it all right there. When you sing it from deep inside your soul, it is contagious. Be ready to sing Gospel a long time. ☺♥♪♫ 11.17.21

I also love Ray Stevens
Radio television media in general certainly aren't preaching any gospel these days. Haven't turned on a radio tv in a long time.
That was good
