The video you reacted to is a different edit of footage from a gig that was filmed for a disc. It was a very emotional gig as the band only formed in 2019 and, due to Covid, they hadn't really been able to play for live audiences. During the song 'Life' at the end of the gig, Mayu, the vocalist, was crying so much she couldn't get all the words out. That moment kills me every time I watch it. Up until recently, as well as being masked, Japanese audiences were told they couldn't sing or shout at gigs in accordance with covid precautions. Nemophila said that when they toured in the USA one of the things that really contrasted was that the audiences could really make the noise they wanted to. There is a great interview video from Young Guitar on TH-cam where the band explain everything. They are really frank and honest about their feelings. It's really interesting, and moving.
This is the performance from January 2022, when covid was still very serious in Japan, so they can't scream, just clap (Japanese rules). I recommend《adabana》as the next!🤘🏻🌸🤘🏻
I seem to remember a thing called covid that kept Japanese audiences from making any noise other than clapping. Before that, they had to be spread out and still could only clap. Of course before that, there couldn't be any audiences. This video shows how really, really good this band is live. I look forward to their return to the US.
“The noise you used to hate is now your best friend.” I think the reason the audience applauded is that they were still under Covid restrictions that prohibit cheering, singing, etc.
You are definitely correct - this was under Covid restriction rules. Same as one of the Lovebites shows. It’s not how Japanese metal audiences typically are at all.
NEMOPHILA new songs Night Flight, Seize The Fate, Rise, Dissension, Raitei, cover songs Iron Maiden, KISS, AC/DC, Motley Crue, Linkin Park, Skid Row, RATM, Nickelback, Foo Fighters, Loudness... Japanese female Bands brings back all the 80' 90' Rock, Metal music in the World, Western Bands today I don't know what kind of music they play now....
It's too bad you didn't find Nemophila 4 months ago, as they did a US tour and hit most of the major cities. Was fortunate enough to see them here in Houston. Small venue, Great Show! Oh, and if you want another song, it has to be Oiran.

Could be, but I've been to some concerts in Japan and many of them were that way. Extremely polite. Well behaved and respectful.
