The difficulty of the Chinese girls is mind-blowing. But beam is tricky for everyone, and anything can happen. This will be the most exciting beam final ever :)

I know Zhou and Qiu have a difficulty advantage over Suni on beam, but I want Suni to take beam gold so bad 😭 I honestly think Suni’s beam inconsistency at trials was probably due to being shaken up by all of the injuries that happened. I think with the extra practice she’s had since trials, she and the other girls will be doing a lot better.
The chinese are known for beautiful breathing taken routines but sadly they sometimes buckle under the pressure when it counts the most which makes it more interesting for the others. I am not hoping it mind you as I want everyone to be at their best but it’s anybody’s game when it comes to the Olympics the stakes are much higher and more pressure from the media to win on behalf of the country they represent.
@@silverpurkatyep. Internationally they struggle with consistency and hitting their routines. I hope they hit but if they don’t, Suni can slip in there.
I think that Qiu will have problems during the balance beam finals, so while I agree that Zhou Yaqin will win the gold (I saw her at the Worlds last year), I think that Suni will be consistent on beam and get the silver, leaving Simone with the bronze. I wish that Simone had upgraded her beam routine.
Rebecca needs to improve her Beam routine thinking individual in Paris. She has been very conservative and focus only in execution. Triple sequences shoud be necessary to medal
How many of these gymnasts are returning olympians? You can have all the physical training and toughness to compete but are you mentally prepared for it? Yes we get an idea of the placements at the worlds but this is the biggest stage in the world and I have seen time and time again (sadly) that the most talented and gifted gymnasts buckle under the pressure even Simone but the bigger difference this time is Simone and Suni had a lot of mental health training and help lift each other up with those tools. In my opinion rhis makes the biggest difference and advantage. Let the games begin! I am looking forward to seeing this! 💪
Simone and suni had horrible beams at trials so u can’t even say they are perfectly consistent. Just know that Simone could have a beam like night one of trials.
@@jacobmiller2663 zhou hasn’t been that inconsistent and crumble under pressure. Qiu didn’t flop in bars final or all around. These Chinese gymnasts now aren’t as bad as years before.
@@jacobmiller2663 It really is, the beam ... which I think should be banned, since I could never watch it live, as it gets my blood pressure going way too high.... because I know ANY MOMENT anyone could fall off of it, even the most elite beam specialists. Remember Jordan Weiber, Arkansas current head coach of women gymnastics? She was one of the most sure footed beam specialists of her generation; she didn't even bet to do beam, I think, for the individual, during the Olympics, because she messed up in early routines. In sports, the only two things I can't watch live are women's BB and figure skating: with these two things, YOU KNOW anyone could literally fall at any jump or skill, because the margin of error is so small. In any event, the Chinese USUALLY are very strong in some apparatus; but as others have noted, they also tend to crumble quite a bit, during the Olympics. The last 3-4 consecutive Olympics, the Chinese women were expected to get gold or silver, as a team, and do really well on individual apparatuses; but they faced some very heart breaking losses, placing behind the Italians and others in 4th or worst...
Beam is by far the most difficult event for the women. That tiny little beam leaves no room for error. Triple series performed perfectly and no balance checks and difficult dismount will prevail the gold medal winner which is up in the air right now. It's the paris Olympic games 2024 and nobody knows what we are going to get. Can't wait for it start. Simone double double off beam is a thriller to watch if she does it. That dismount is so difficult. Some can't even do it on floor so should be very exciting.
This takes difficulty scores into account along with deductions and consistency. Simone is very consistent with minimal deductions. But her difficulty score is lower than the top two. They have increased their difficulty in the last year. Suni's difficulty IF she hits all of her skills is higher than Simone's with the routines we currently know of. Simone could easily add a skill in and she could easily get in the top three. She would have to add something rated really high to over take the top two though. Or they have to have some real deductions. Simone is currently the best all around gymnast and the best on floor and vault. With the highest difficulty levels on those events. She doesn't, going by the routines we have seen, have the highest difficulty on the bars or on the beam. We shall what happens! It should be a good competition. And gymnasts are always adding things and taking things away from routines. If someone has a bad night or someone has an amazing night anything can happen!
@@joyfadele3104Guan ChenChen (who is retired and not at this Olympics). Edit: I realized they were talking about reigning World Champion Simone Biles, not an Olympic champion. In this case, I agree with their comment.
Its so crazy how quickly the Chinese gymnasts retire. Why doesnt China put more effort into retaining some of their medal-winning gymnasts? @JackAlex-x5r
once again an amazing video, i love how factually and politely you talk about the routines! can someone help though, what constitutes a 'built-in deduction'?
Thank you!! It's a basically unavoidable deduction that a gymnast will receive because of the way they do the skill. For instance, Simone always has a leg separation on her Maloney on bars, which will always incur a deduction when she performs it & is considered a built-in deduction. A common built-in, especially on beam, is when a gymnast competes a leap and does not ever reach a full split.
Hoping the Chinese and Suni hit their routines and get medals, but I certainly wouldn't be mad if Simone got another beam medal. Just depends on who has the least mistakes.
