    I like these driveway builds. Connie, Helga, they're a different pace from the shop built cars, and I notice you guys aren't shooting for a specific lap time for either car. They're just cool projects you guys are working on for yourselves.

    Tell him to get a OMP front brace too, will help the turrets alot too. Also I ran the rear adjuster for the spring the other way round, alot easier for height adjustment later

  • @BlackSpiderMan

    I think those rear springs were installed upside down. Otherwise, with the way it's placed, the ride height can't be adjusted. I just installed mine today and forgot to install the factor rubber shims. Gotta throw my alignment into the backlog now! Great video, really helped with navigating the install process.

      Imo US spec e36 m3 is still over rated, 328i and US m3 are too close to each other. luckily moose's m3 is euro spec but sadly after seeing coil cover and vanos unit, it is older gen euro s50b30, with 286 hp. Euro S50b32 is more desired with 321 hp

    M3 Evos should have the front topmounts set back for added caster, hence your wheels are sat forward in the arches. BC do sell topmounts for this, would be worth changing to those guys. Keep up the good work

    I and my brother made Bmw drift missiles first we did spring chop. When we got some cheap coils dampening non adjustable. So we installed that hard shock and putted in coilover spring with out ride colar and ride was actually the same. Also harder coilover spring and harder absorber on rear wheels reduced wheel hop and i was able to shred in 3rd

    Anti-sway bars reduce body roll. Did you upgrade them? Nice coil overs for sure, but body roll is controlled by the bars.

    • @RCXDerp
      @RCXDerp 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Spring rate and changing to non-progressive springs should help too.

    • @speedacademydave
      @speedacademydave 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Swaybars only work in roll, springs and dampers work both in roll and in pitch and dive. Swaybars are a secondary tuning device for roll stiffness, but the springs set the baseline.

    • @andrewd2911

  • @AX-xi2pw
    @AX-xi2pw 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Don't do one side at a time for coilovers. The swaybar will push up and give you a hard time. Better lift each axle at the same time
    Edit: oh ok, the end link attach to the coilover anyway. That's a bit strange lol

    i agree on the reinforcement plate in front but the back is actually the weakest link you should seriously consider with 10k springs.

    • @speedacademydave
      @speedacademydave 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we did put reinforcing plates back there too.

    • @jf1177
      @jf1177 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes but only the slap ons all the dudes at my track icar told me they weld extra metal to the towers because there's too little metal and eventually the stress cracks the towers because of stiff setups.

    • @andrewd2911
      @andrewd2911 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The weight of the car is transferred to the chasis sheetmetal thru the separate spring, this the bulk of the stress/load. The separate Damper/shock adds little load to the chassis. The shock tower reinforcememt plate should be fine. A number of track focused cars do a true coil-over conversion, with the spring and shock bolting up where the shock sits. This requires substantial (Welded) reinforcement of the whole area. . The Weak spots in the rear of the car are where the Sub-frame bolts up (Already reinforced from the factory ...because M3), the trailing arm pockets and the sway-bar mounts. These will be welded in at a later date

    • @dirtslider1997

      The "ZHP" rack is a bit of a myth pretty much all 330's came with the yellow tag rack and IIRC all the facelift 330's had them no need to pay extra for a rack from the zhp.

    That's actually not max camber. You have to remove the inside bolts and set them on the next thread. Still that's a nice setup right there.

    • @Simas306
      @Simas306 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that safe to do so? And how much camber do you gain?

    • @PedroFTeixeira
      @PedroFTeixeira 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem. Those bolts only suffer vertical loads. If there was a problem there wouldn't be different thread positions. :)

    • @speedacademy
      @speedacademy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We knew somebody would spot that! We did in fact max it out as you've suggested before aligning it. Just didn't shoot any video of it so used that clip in the edit.

    • @Simas306
      @Simas306 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      How much camber did you get by maxing it out?

    Shouldn’t the rear reinforcement plate go below the top surface of the shock?

    • @andrewd2911
      @andrewd2911 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sandwiches the OE sheet metal between the HD upper shock mount and the aftermarket reinforcing plate. Helps spread the loads over a larger area.
