“How the rebellion won against the galactic empire despite the empire having a numerical advantage effectively until the end”. Man, I thought the rebellion winning was plot bs, but damn, it can actually happen like that.
No, this only worked, again just like Star Wars, because the plot needed it to happen. I hope the CDF boys knew they were just there for a plot devise and don't take it too hard.

I guess if you wanted an in lore explanation for the CDF defeat, you could say that while they could replace lost ships, the human casualty count was simply too high. Maybe all those players who quit irl because it wasn't fun could be explained in lore as either dying or deserting to escape the CDF meat grinder.
It didn't occur to me earlier, but that's basically what happened to the German navy in WW1. They had the ships, but the casualty rate was so high and it was obvious they were losing, so most of the navy mutinied and refused to go out to fight.
@@uppishcub1617 But the Royal Navy was much more powerful after Jutland, and the limited number of large shipyards and material shortages meant the High Seas fleet was less able to fight, let alone complete dreadnoughts
@@charlesc.9012 Jutland was a tactical victory for germany but a strategic for The Brits, the royal navy could replace losses, while the blockaded resource starved and already smaller german fleet could not. However the losses inflicted upon the Royal navy DID shook british morale of course the germans didn't knew they could break them if they pushed further, from their perspective they were damaging their fleet too much to chase endless numbers of british ships.
@@sosig6445 After the battle, Seydlitz and Hipper opimed on how miraculous it was that they survived, because British lyddite shells often malfunctioned and their battlecruisers had poor ammunition handling practices. The introduction of the Green Boy shell and reintroduction of safety protocols made 12” and 15” guns far deadlier overnight, and the time window drew to a close before the High seas fleet could even finish their repairs and retry. SMS Seydlitz survived because of these flaws, and there would not be the same lucky escape again German battlecruisers also had forwards firing torpedo tunes, which meant a hit there flooded the large space needed to store and handle torps. This meant flooding was uncontrollable, and led to the loss of Lützow, I believe.
I don't know if this was intended but this plot is EXACTLY like Battletech lol. The Innersphere (CDF and RR) fighting until the Clans (KE) come in and reek havoc. Even in Battletech the clans are a highly militaristic group of exiles with delusions of destined expansion. The clans nearly win because the innersphere never worked together until a third faction, Comstar (EFN) came and bail them out at the battle of Tukayyid.
*cough* You left out Comstar's early contributions to Clanner success (it's kind of hard to mount a defense when the Opfor knows your marching orders before your field commanders do, kind of easy to continue your assault when somebody else is handling your garrisons and logistics for you). They only decided to take a stand against the Clans once it was determined what their true ambitions were (THEY can't recreate a new Star League with themselves at the head of it... that's what WE were going to do). In short, May 20th, remember Tukayyid, thank you Comstar for cleaning up your own mess.
Honestly another big factor why KE won the way it did was that it was made of people who saw season 1 and wanted to be a part of Season 2, this means you ended up with a surprising number of really experienced players, and especially builders. KE ships were really maneuverable for their tonnage and while lacking in armor were able to dodge a lot of hits that COA vessels had to just tank
It sounds cool but, it seems tho if any faction thats actually trying to do the right thing for the game, you just have people wanting a thrill of victory, really for no reason. Thats what makes me kinda like eh. Its mad easy to jus dogpile the big guy. Unless idk people jus value all out whatever and piracy in this game. Im not sure how it works, ive never played it. But with how u laid out the whole season thing it makes it weird.
@@GetBrocked this is actually what concerned me, you could hear it in mallards voice, and the frustration in the others. It was incredibly one sided (which made for an epic story tbh) Also i think their never surrender mentality and jump inhibitors if used would have a huge impact too. Which made me wonder a few times if there was GM favors being given to the riders to survive and the eternity to turn the tide (for the sake of story length) Or is it possible all khans vs eternity could have followed?
@@xzenderx I actually planned for the Riders to make a heroic last stand. At this point I suspected season 3 was going to be a massive guerrilla operation. Eternity alone could not win vs the Khans. I had some other plans as well, but ultimately the Riders winning was a very nice way to tie it all of Im very glad they got their shit together.
I did my very best to turn the leadership around, and start for Attrition, but sadly i couldnt move nor motivate them to. May the CDF rest well, the faction that produce my charachter. Atleast visible.
I personally would have banded together with others who want to, and possibly revolt against leadership. As I feel you’d have been able to possibly lead CDF to victory, though you’re just one man, as am I. One is all it takes to get the dominos rolling. I just learned that this server exists so I might eventually try to pop in
@@oblivion1751 The core of the CDF was made up of long time members, even if a "revolt" had happened they would have been unable to function with the numbers that would be left.
I think you nailed the analysis of their collapse. Morale broke. Yeah it's a game but if the players do not want to play after a kind of un-fun session they will not fight as hard to win the battle. Just how it rolls. They sure gave it their all though. Their navy was very impressive
CDF you will be missed. All of you fought so hard and did so great love all the designs you all did for each ship as well. Let's stay strong for the rider faction and KE faction.
The human cost of a war shouldnt be understated. Material can be replaced but people that die stay down. People staying down in this comparison would be people stopping because they werent having fun. Ut sounds like they failed to communicate properly so simply couldnt put up a coordinated fight. It worked for them in the 1st season because they dident have to communicate with people outside of their group. But when they did have to do that it dident work out. Ontop of that they had the bad luck of having their first joint battle be a catastrophe. The alliance was over before it started :/
Even if it's based off of the Halcyon, I'd put it up there with the Infinite. It has shields (which the Halcyon didn't have), even on Earth it's seen as a Battleship, not Light Cruiser, and has multiple frontal lances (which are Outlands equivalent to MAC's, since in-game the railgun is a pushover). It's also called a Super-Battleship in the Outlands system.
@@cookiecraze1310 it's stronger than the average halcyon, but I wouldn't say it's near the Infinity. Seems to be more in line with the Autumn Class more than the Halcyon Class
@@sallyh1480 I'm saying that compared to most ships in Outlands it's pretty much the Infinity; it had more weapons that the supposed super ship Leviathan (but didn't really do well against it because of the escort it had), better radar and Lidar than any other ship until season 2, was the only shielded ship and had insane durability even without the shield, given it was pretty much gutted at the end of season 1 and 2 but still managed to survive.
when season 2 was around the corner, we went into this thinking it would be season 1, casual pvp witha decent amount of scripting, and a bit of back and forth.... how ever, after getting our asses handed to us constantly, and well.... constant defeats, moral tanked when we found out how the ke built their ships for more pvp focus, which made them even harder to kill, trying to retrofit ships earlier in the war while also making sure the factions didnt fall apart from moral.... it was not fun... our fleet admiral was on the verge of breaking a lot but stayed till the end, i tried we all tried, but once moral was out the window..... gl trying to fix what is broken, the constant losses, loosing one of the most well known ships in our navy... it was to much for the cdf high command to bare, we fought hard.... but i feel like we didnt fight hard enough and it cost us our lives, and our home. hopefully the riders can turn this war around.
An unhappy military alliance does more harm than good. Theoretically, even if both sides hate each other, 2+2 is still 4. But practically speaking, that is not how it turns out. In this kind of situation, 2+2 equals 3 if you are lucky, or as low as 1.5 if you are not. It does weird things to people's heads and expectations, in situations where people should perform and push until they die if needed, they get soft and pull back. 'We are in an alliance after all, its not like we are fighting alone', but there is nothing real to back up that preconceived notion and only regret in the aftermath. Its fascinating to see when this happens, but its a good lesson. If you are going to have allies, dedicate yourself to working together. Fleet lost day one? Damn bro that sucks, we can send some people over to help rebuild(assuming such was allowed). Frontline bogged down? Time to develop a plan to hit something in the enemies backfield. From my complete outsiders perspective, this sounds like the CDF and Riders never got over their misgivings about the other. In this kind of situation, becoming friends could be acceptable. Trade agreements, docksharing, ect. But no further than that. To quote a certain man from Battletech... "Wars are not won on the field of combat. Battles are, but those are only ever part of the story. To win a war you need to break the enemy's resolve, to force him to accept defeat. Otherwise the war will never end. Too many conflicts persist because battles are won but the hearts and minds of the people are not. Winning involves every level of society, from the generals and politicians to the shop girls and street cleaners. The infantryman with his rifle may be the blunt weapon used to win this fight, but he is neither the instigator nor the concluder." In reality, the war never ended between the Riders and the CDF. Both sides still felt misgivings. The CDF, that they could have done better and could still go further. The Riders, that they had the momentum and needed to just take a few more steps. This is made with only this video as my knowledge base for this whole thing, though. I could be wrong or missing critical information, but this whole thing was fun to write so, hey, why not?
yeah I think that's a good way to put it. The COA never really lived up to the name sake of being a alliance. Just 2 sides that happened to have weapons fire turned off on each other
"in situations where people should perform and push until they die if needed, they get soft and pull back." This happens in reality too, because people don't want to die, regardless of alliances, and a destroyed ship has no value compared to a damaged one that pulls back and can enter the fight again later.
I really like the evolution of your galaxy. The CDF faction completely falling and being absorbed brings a sense of realism as the same thing has happened countless times throughout history. I get it from the player's perspective, why play a game if it isn't fun? Totally understandable! But I do appreciate how they weren't just handwaved back into existence somewhere.
Watching the footage it's amazing what you can do when piloting your ship. When I played this game years ago I could barely make a fridge with an engine, and here you have pilots evading entire streams of ammo and skirting around missle lines like they're nothing
pretty good take on the senario. Its still an shame KE dominated so hard people were starting to lose hope and wanted to leave the series. We should have seen that coming earlier and try to change things around. Not my proudest moment in outlands but CDF fought valiently and put down there mark. They were always considered the biggest tread even though RR had a battleship. Early fights with CDF went to the brink of both factions capebilities. those battles are still the fondest memories I have of early S2 outlands. GG CDF
I've only just found your channel in the past week and already I've watched the entirety of season 1 outlands and up to date with season 2. The whole series is so incredibly well done I honestly can't get enough of it! If had a PC I'd love to join in such an incredible series, but watching will have to suffice. I really hope you continue to get the support you truly deserve!!!! And it is such ashame as to what has happened with the CDF, but if anything, it makes things even more interesting. Now the tables truly do seem to favour the Kahn's Enclave and it will be exciting to see if the Riders and the EFN are able to overcome those odds.
Damn had no idea about the communication breakdown, puts things into perspective for sure. Makes a lot of sense with the eternity-centric perspective, really adds an element of confusion to the steamrolling
How tf am I so invested in watching a lore video about a real life war taking place in space Minecraft. I've never played Space Engineers, I've seen at most 3 videos about it and the complexity of game plus the tactics blows me away.
Really enjoyed this. I'm an old Eve Online guy. Played for like a decade. But with CCP's mishandling of the game in recent years, I've pretty much walked away at this point. Watching/listening to this reminded me a lot of some of the old 'great wars' in Eve, and definitely tickled a bit of the nostalgia button. Well done to everyone involved.
I appreciate the retelling, especially since I started watching at season 2 and so didn’t really know the history. What would be even better would be an analysis of why they fell…you mention moral loss, but is that really it? I feel like the desire to not offend people is sort of obscuring an open discussion of what really happened. from a viewers perspective, it’s not clear at all why the KE just crush all with no losses…are they better pilots, superior ship design, better tactics? That sort of analysis would be interesting.
I'll give you the short answer of all of the above. Their ships have more thrust allowing more maneuverability and pilots using that to maximum effect. This increased maneuverability also attribute to their tactics as if a COA ship gets to far from the group they react almost instantly and pounce because their ships are much more responsive to changes of direction.
As a fellow outsider on Mars in a Galactic warfare server, me and some buddies decided to make a scrap faction with one main scrap HQ and some main scrap motherships, this would help us survival and evolve faster than the most experienced players in the server, Our faction was just getting ready and still making the main headquarters up for business, luckily there was a war going on nearby at a factions base, before the apposing faction came back for their 5th raid, they asked us to take and scrap up their ships, in return we got Uranium and ice. With these new materials to our disposal we got requests back to back to scrap unwanted and un-usable ships, thanks to this we built up our fleet with the scrap and junk from the servers biggest and most hated faction, because for their tech in our ships every faction allied with us joined us and started producing our ships and sending them out. At first we raided their asteroid base and got their attention, with the small fleet already there we had them concentrating on our droned ships, Later that same hour our entire faction alliance got their and took them down and were still active enough to be able to fully raid and get them off the face of the server just because they couldn't compete with out technology and numbers.
I came in a little late and binged watched both seasons to get caught up it did look like a blast. I was shocked at the COA's decision to kick out the EFN. I wondered how much of that was scripted. Either way, it seems like their aggressive move ultimately played a significant role in their demise either way they fought hard, and you could hear it in the leaders' voices during every battle. Looking forward to the next season I joined the discord and twitch if you are needing players or any other help I might hit you up on discord. Great job to everyone.
This is so cool to see all these events and battles unfolding, I wonder though if it's possible to have something like this in Space Engineers without the need for scripting. (Kind of like how the Fountain War in Eve went)
@@admiralmallard7500 I understand that, and there is nothing wrong with that, I still like watching them! And I know the script is probably there because if people were to go full anarchy on this game it will quickly devolve into an unfun, unwatchable mess with people spamming ugly, cheesy ships etc.
This is my 1st time ever hearing bout space engineers and with pvp and the huge battles how things play out how the community and communication is so tight knit like I wish I got to watch all this play out like all of this is so interesting
well. you're in luck. Check out the series (Outlands Season 1 and 2) on the channel. Literally there's a series following it. It does have some scripted episode to force a easier to follow narrative, and some flair and RP is added. But overall it sticks to what is happening
she is insanely tanky. Like the OG halycon she has extensive layered armor. Season 1 finale I believe she almost half her total mass, but was kicking (barely)
This looks super sick, I haven't really dived into space engineers becuase I always felt there was such a large time commitment but If I had something like this... idk I may just hop in
Based on what you have described, the reason why the CDF was destroyed all goes back to a lack of coordination with the Riders. More communication between the two factions and better coordination would have helped out with the ensuing attack by the KE. However, because they didn’t communicate much, the end result was one major defeat, which resulted in a general collapse of the CDF morale, bringing about more defeats until it was an absolute defeat. In this situation, there’s very little that could be done outside of changing leadership and joining the Riders.
Everyone below the old CDF players did not have enough experience to take over and would be short of pilots to man the ships and the old staff were unable to keep fighting due to well real life becoming a factor again after the lock downs ended. Though in the end you're not entirely wrong. After the collapse of the CDF any willing personnel and active squadrons joined the Riders.
No idea this is what space engineers pvp was like. Looks like everything I've ever been looking for in a game. I've had it in my steam library for years
One thing I notice is not alot of fortress places like fobs that could some what handle a battle ship or some cruiser fleets that could help them in a battle I know it could not be allowed to have but it would at least help to have some stations that can fight back I don't do much pvp but something like a fortress station could really help in a battle next to it
(14:22) (blink and you'll miss it) Most definitely gotta have your iTunes up and pumping some good music while you're getting attacked by enemy ships. 😉😎🤘
idk what this game is but it seems pretty cool. Probably won't play it tho since im horrible at building stuff on 3D grids in games, or at least im guessing thats how this game handles building considering the blocky-ness of the spaceships. That series u mentioned tho seems neat ill check that out.
This is a very interesting story. It's fun too see the same strategies that happened in the real world be recreated by players in a game. If you replaced the names and presented the story as naval battles it would fit in ww2 naval history
after watching the whole season 2 series i could say the defining momment where in either CDF or Rider forces would be annihilated is when both factions did not do any combined strikes against the khan forces (yes in one episode they did do a somewhat joint offensive after it failed both factions just went in and forgot they had an alliance)
@getbrocked Tell me how interested would you be in creating a larger universe. I'm in the works of creating a new gaming community in se. We plan to do things similar to your community here. What if we sort of merged our two universes between all our servers? Where players could jump their ships from your planets to ours. Like visiting a distant galaxy or reaching the other side of tgis galaxy. Its already possible to jump ships between with select mods. Overall it gives us all something greater and more unique in the space engineers community as a whole. I think it could be a great adventure that gives more players more things to explore and a wider range of dynamics.
perhaps, I would need to hear more details, and the likes. At the moment I would be cautious about something like that as merging universes typically doesn't work that well
@@GetBrocked it would take lots of preplanning and we would all have to have the same synced mods between all the servers. My biggest concern is various player ruleset formats between each solar system in the wide universe. I'm sure a pop up after jumping would solve it. Otherwise rule breakers get slapped with a thicc bounty encouraging rp. Several ways we can organically solve issues. Its definitely of a large undertaking as is anything new and untried. Ive been around since 2013 off and on and I want see se to be something grander. Maybe a like mini space mmo as no other game gets it right like se. My end goal or dream is to have dozens of server/solar systems/communites to form a se version of single shard making a pseudo full galaxy. Complete with a lore map graph like in star wars between trade routes and territory sectors. Although I admit the practically aspect of linking so many communites is unknown or if even truly possible. I'm probably going to need a team of modders to custom work on coding if the current mod cannot handle it... If you like, we can do some exchanges over discord? I would be happy to hear your input and general mp host experience over this.
@@geronimo5537 there's already ways to seamlessly meld multiple shards. Some MP server do it to increase the world size. My big issue wasn't the feasibility. It's the melding of different "universes". Is your universe compatible with mine? etc. Unless a mcguffin is used I don't see how to resolve certain conflicts. Is there a channel on YT showing off your SE community? Then I could perhaps offer more insight to what I mean
@@GetBrocked ah yes, the melding process is something that requires a more deeper discussion than one I can provide here. I do see the concern. Though I don't see issues if we both remain flexible to achieve the larger overall goal. That is building a long string of planets/solar systems any player can visit within one universe that has multiple listed servers as entryway into it. Each with their own community, story, and background unique to them and their own players. For us our community, Universe42, is in the fledgling phase. There is nothing publically posted for now. We have the network and hardware side complete for two servers. One in the US and the other in EU. We are now finishing the user interaction side of things such as discord and services for players. Our custom se planet is ready it has been in developement for sometime. Ideally we should be running in the next month or so. We still need to build our community's invading alien protagonist crafts, as just one example of work remaining. Once we are fully operational we plan to host faction based war, pvp, and pve events. I originally intended to wait longer before contacting other communites about this idea. But I really enjoyed your video and overall server gameplay. Long term I see Universe42 following similar lines as your community gameplay is here.
it depends on multiple factors generally losing battles is one thing but winning a war is complicated requires coordination and planning once a factions command structure is disrupted its hard for it to recover
I don't want to criticize the now defunt CDF, but as a viewer it struck me that they didn't look as commited to defeat the Khans at the start. At least from the outside view that is how it looked. Later whe the Khans started to punch them they reacted but then it was more like triying to plug holes in the hull of a sinking ship with the finger.
I have no clue on what this is (I'll have to watch more content) BUT I've been in the same position before, I had a few guys under me but I had a bunch of people over me, the people over me just lost motivation as what they thought was good turned out it never was good but it worked out fine, This caused the top lead to just not play or just not care enough, I couldn't do much but I keep trying to give a fight with the people under me, And I feel for the guys, they were relatively new and felt left behind, I used those fights to show them how to go at it and used random tactics along with those that kept playing, we lost but we gave one hell of a fight and made it hard for everyone.
One of them should've used my juggernaut battleship design (which is on my workshop page) It has a 300G gravity cannon that can tear an unshielded ship in half with one shot Ridiculously powerful shields (darkstar bubble shield and kinetic barriers with cythons shields) It's porcupined with beam laser turrets (I think 40 in total) 2 spinal mount big Bertha cannons Projector based auto repair system (requires Kodiak strut welder mod) nuclear bomb launcher (welds a thermonuclear warhead with a battery and mass block to be fired from the gravity cannon) all wrapped in neutronium armor plating that is 7 blocks thick at its weakest point (can be subbed with heavy armor if you don't have modded armor blocks) This thing is so big that it requires 5 projectors to build in one piece (or build the 5 sections and merge block them together) On the server I used to play on, this thing survived an onslaught from the entire server, including 2 OP admin ships that were intended to make players rage quit In that epic battle, it sustained massive damage, it had an entire engine nacelle missing (half the reactor power and propulsion gone) and had its entire engineering section destroyed (crippling the auto repair system) but it still survived against a server of 20 players It was even more powerful with the modular laser system (where you can pipe lasers together to make a death star) that thing could burn a hole through itself in about 5 seconds with the original design
@@anightmare1645 it's currently hidden while I'm modifying the design, should be available in the next few days, maybe a week Edit Reason for modification is one of the blocks used crashes SE when you try to spawn it in multiplayer (I built this thing in 2016)
I think another factor was that the CDF was anticipating a second war with the Riders after dealing with the KE. Remember that in the early phase of the KE invasion the CDF kept a few squadrons bordering Rider territory far from the front line. No doubt those squadrons could have played a decisive role had they been committed to the front, but by the time they were finally deployed it was too late to make a difference. The CDF got distracted preparing for the next war instead of focusing on winning the one they were currently engaged in and it cost them everything.
potentially; they were also fearful of a 1st fleet invasion. A big "thing" was that the KE did really poorly in our practice runs so a lot of factions expected a stomp
@@GetBrocked Well KE clearly learned something from those practice runs. Good on them for really managing to pull a 180 and become such a formidable force on the battlefield.
There are only so many squadrons that can be used to attack, and plus yes, the battleship we tried to create and our extensive capital production was more in preparing for first fleet, it didn't take resources away from the front line, the Khans were just more skilled.
If you could scale Space Engineers with server meshing to reach population sizes of EVE Online, I say this would be the best space game for forseeable future.
A coordinated strategy is always key to victory. That involves effective communication and cooperation of efforts. The second thing is don't underestimate your enemy. Ever. Hit the enemy where they are weak, don't get overly excited by huge gambles if you don't have contingency plans for losing and plans to hold your gains when you win.

@@admiralmallard7500 my main vessel is a Thunderbird-type of rocket that is armed with six launchers and 34 turrets. Its much more stable and extremely responsive.
strategy is key inm battles. during the korean and japanese war in i believe the 12th to 13th century, a fleet of about 30 (maybe more, dont remember this perfectly) korean boats sank a japenes fleet several times their size, to the point where the general of the fleet that beat the japanese became a legendary figure in their navy, and having your prowess being compared to his was an incredibly high honor. in fact during i believe the russo japanese war or ww2, one naval leader after a large victory had his skills compared to said korean general, but turned it down saying that while he was good, he wasnt that good (in essence) dont remember this perfectly, but it is a pretty cool story.
Lol damn straight dude. The Downfall of BoB was about when I started playing, but man, soooooo many great powers rising and falling like this. Really hit the nostalgia button.
I really dislike that alot of people in space engineers, and bigger clans don't dedicate ships to point defense. The amount of rocket spam could easily be avoided with a single small, very maneuverable ship, slammed out with auto cannon ball turrets. Usually if I'm playing with my friends on a large clan ruled server, I just play point defense, and shoot 80% of enemy salvos down with my turrets.
point defense without using a script and a PMW don't work in SE. The default turret AI has less than a 5% hit rate against incoming missiles. Keen broke that sometime in 2018 and hasn't fixed it since. We don't allow PMW nor anything beyond basic scripts.
Well I know a guy who likes to do this to PvP servers. Grab a bunch of guys, build or get some mid size ships, load them with explosives and when a battle comes. *TENNO HEIKA BANZAI!* They tend to annoy the living crap out of everybody though.
I'd love to get involved in something like this, but I'm not that well versed in ship building yet.. that, and I can't find a good server on the Series X
Sounds like you had one RP faction that you labeled PVP and another faction that actually was PVP. This is what happens when those conflicting interests collide. RP focused factions will typically lose.
The Khan's had alot more PvP experience, but in the end of the day that's not something that can be controlled and would be impossible to change that once they've started, would be unfair and not make sense
Hi bro can you tell me the player count in this war? It sounds like there were A LOT of ships and therefore players. Im new to the game and have nobody to play with so those battle sizes just impress me
it's not that big. most battles are limited to 4v4. The battle of malta 4 instances of 6v6 + all the static assets. SE cannot handle much more than that sadly.
Makes sense, no one likes seeing their creations constantly destroyed. If it happens enough times the player will usually either quit the server or the game and admins don't want that.
I play space engineers single player, and kinda just keep building out my ship while using mods to increase PVE encounters. Right now, my ship has over 2GL of hydrogen storage, hundreds of Gatling guns (I do have modded weapons, but I let the NPCs use them instead), over 7GW energy production (1.4GW from hydrogen engines), 1.7GWh in storage, hundreds of h2 generators, around 200 assemblers, 40ish refiners, 9 large energy shields, a bunch of ships that I stole attached to the front, millions of kg of most ores and ingots, and 10s of millions of kg worth of ships I destroyed then put in my cargo containers.
I haven't followed anything related to Space Engineers for a very long time and you guys turned it into some kind of EVE Online in the meantime? WTF???
How about a small near stationary station shaped like a short carrot that can be extended that has a large gun and some missiles on it AND a shield that can rotate all around the station that has no machinery in it so its easy to repairr to fight against mainly rockets? the Extending part of the station would have a railgun on it that aims with the mouse and can be retracted fully into the station. in a one on one fight it would do very well because having a shield that only covers ONE side of the station that can be rotated left and right around it would cost less to do and could potentially do very well. Rockets would be sent out on top of the station and would home in on the enemy
My small faction of 5 people wiped out a 20 active player faction in a matter of hours. minus the 30 hours of remote lazer drone montering and taking photos then 4 hours to compile a plan AND 12 hours of prep. Needless to say my 5 man faction makes entire faction rage quit...

@@uppishcub1617 But the Royal Navy was much more powerful after Jutland, and the limited number of large shipyards and material shortages meant the High Seas fleet was less able to fight, let alone complete dreadnoughts
@@charlesc.9012
Jutland was a tactical victory for germany but a strategic for The Brits, the royal navy could replace losses, while the blockaded resource starved and already smaller german fleet could not.
SMS Seydlitz survived because of these flaws, and there would not be the same lucky escape again
German battlecruisers also had forwards firing torpedo tunes, which meant a hit there flooded the large space needed to store and handle torps. This meant flooding was uncontrollable, and led to the loss of Lützow, I believe.
@@uppishcub1617 Not at all what happen. German navy tried to break the blockade and suffered losses so they never tried it again.
Holy crap, you're right.
Yup its all fun and games for the delusional warrior faction till space at&t comes along and shares a shit ton of ammo with ya.
Lol, now the joke I want to start isn't tax evasion. It's that they haven't paid their phone bill in 70 years lol.
@RedHatchet Gaming it's been fifteen years years since then. Now I'm back for vengeance.
What's your batchball
Naming a cruiser Warspite is basically a cheat code. It's not going to die until it hits the scrapyard.
She was a fine ship. May she sail the stars for all time
RIP Warspite
*sob*
It's kindof the reverse of calling a ship Thunderchild, in that sense.
Honestly another big factor why KE won the way it did was that it was made of people who saw season 1 and wanted to be a part of Season 2, this means you ended up with a surprising number of really experienced players, and especially builders. KE ships were really maneuverable for their tonnage and while lacking in armor were able to dodge a lot of hits that COA vessels had to just tank
thats a factor too
It sounds cool but, it seems tho if any faction thats actually trying to do the right thing for the game, you just have people wanting a thrill of victory, really for no reason. Thats what makes me kinda like eh. Its mad easy to jus dogpile the big guy. Unless idk people jus value all out whatever and piracy in this game. Im not sure how it works, ive never played it. But with how u laid out the whole season thing it makes it weird.
@@profo4544 I don't understand what you mean?
@@GetBrocked this is actually what concerned me, you could hear it in mallards voice, and the frustration in the others.
It was incredibly one sided (which made for an epic story tbh)
Also i think their never surrender mentality and jump inhibitors if used would have a huge impact too.
Which made me wonder a few times if there was GM favors being given to the riders to survive and the eternity to turn the tide (for the sake of story length)
Or is it possible all khans vs eternity could have followed?
@@xzenderx I actually planned for the Riders to make a heroic last stand.
At this point I suspected season 3 was going to be a massive guerrilla operation. Eternity alone could not win vs the Khans.

Im very glad they got their shit together.
I just learned that this server exists so I might eventually try to pop in
I hope you understand Jessy why we weren't able to go on and don't remember us as having not tried. Gl in future.

@@admiralmallard7500 I know why you wherent able to go on. No hard feelings towards any of you.
Perhaps we should reform the CDF, or form an avenging force
The alliance was over before it started :/
yeah... it's a bit of a bummer.
I love how the Eternity is basically a UNSC Halcyon Light Cruiser
for real dude, i thought the ships looked like halo before that showed up but it is just straight up a Halcyon
Well yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the inspiration.
The infantryman with his rifle may be the blunt weapon used to win this fight, but he is neither the instigator nor the concluder."
In reality, the war never ended between the Riders and the CDF.
Just 2 sides that happened to have weapons fire turned off on each other
"in situations where people should perform and push until they die if needed, they get soft and pull back."
This happens in reality too, because people don't want to die, regardless of alliances, and a destroyed ship has no value compared to a damaged one that pulls back and can enter the fight again later.
Not my proudest moment in outlands
but CDF fought valiently and put down there mark.
Yeah. Got a long road ahead of us. Glad that you like the show !
Damn had no idea about the communication breakdown, puts things into perspective for sure. Makes a lot of sense with the eternity-centric perspective, really adds an element of confusion to the steamrolling
I have never heard someone fit the phrase "Vibe check" into a mostly serious play-by-play of a battle and make it sound so natural.
How tf am I so invested in watching a lore video about a real life war taking place in space Minecraft. I've never played Space Engineers, I've seen at most 3 videos about it and the complexity of game plus the tactics blows me away.

i have never played this game, but the fables of internet space battles always captivate me. well done
I'll probably get into a actual tactics video at the end of the season
I'll give you the short answer of all of the above. Their ships have more thrust allowing more maneuverability and pilots using that to maximum effect. This increased maneuverability also attribute to their tactics as if a COA ship gets to far from the group they react almost instantly and pounce because their ships are much more responsive to changes of direction.
@@aegisangel8610 interesting.
That wasn't scripted. Efn was just as surprised as the viewer. I scripted it after for the episode to make what happened more concise.
Love the storylines that come out of games like that
Emergent gameplay like this is so fascinating.
Man i dont even have this game but this video was entertaining to watch. Strongly considering buying this game. Nice work!
This is so cool to see all these events and battles unfolding, I wonder though if it's possible to have something like this in Space Engineers without the need for scripting. (Kind of like how the Fountain War in Eve went)
The scripting and story only provide the conditions for these battles to occur, everything else is upto the pilots and commander
@@admiralmallard7500 I understand that, and there is nothing wrong with that, I still like watching them! And I know the script is probably there because if people were to go full anarchy on this game it will quickly devolve into an unfun, unwatchable mess with people spamming ugly, cheesy ships etc.

Never having rooted for the CDF man I felt bad for them loosing ship after ship. Such an iconic part of the universe, sad they're gone. o7
it's what makes outlands unique. The fear of loss, while stressful, makes the Rider story in contrast so much interesting.

Hmmm yes thank you youtube reccomended for bringing back another old obsession of mine, space larp. I must recap.
After the collapse of the CDF any willing personnel and active squadrons joined the Riders.
great summary of all events
No idea this is what space engineers pvp was like. Looks like everything I've ever been looking for in a game. I've had it in my steam library for years
it requires a lot of setup to get into this state. At the base level it's basically just a standbox
Never knew this side of space engineers existed. Missed out on some good fun
One thing I notice is not alot of fortress places like fobs that could some what handle a battle ship or some cruiser fleets that could help them in a battle I know it could not be allowed to have but it would at least help to have some stations that can fight back I don't do much pvp but something like a fortress station could really help in a battle next to it
Rail guns can delete a stations reactors.
Yeh Stations are super vulnerable, even when built to the max.

this is such a great story, i dont enjoy the RP as much as i enjoy the overall tactical overview and post historical documentary.
i would say this is not like dnd more like Battle Tech then DND, but damn this series is great, and I got space engineers because of it.

idk what this game is but it seems pretty cool. Probably won't play it tho since im horrible at building stuff on 3D grids in games, or at least im guessing thats how this game handles building considering the blocky-ness of the spaceships. That series u mentioned tho seems neat ill check that out.
Seeing this makes me wish I wasn't so bad at the game : /
I love good story plays.
I've never even heard of this game, let alone I do not know what's going on here but I sure liked this video
Well like you said, that battle went so badly it broke the alliance
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THAT SKYBOX IS! The one that is blackish with orange nebula in the background.
New favorite line: Brock saying 'Bebe'
I don't want to criticize the now defunt CDF, but as a viewer it struck me that they didn't look as commited to defeat the Khans at the start. At least from the outside view that is how it looked. Later whe the Khans started to punch them they reacted but then it was more like triying to plug holes in the hull of a sinking ship with the finger.
Both the riders and the cdf at the start were sorta a mess. Yeah. The opening loss really messed up the entire premise and plan going into this war.
We has a squadron on 1A when the blockade was broken however it was collectively decided not to use them, by that I include RR command
I have no clue on what this is (I'll have to watch more content)
BUT I've been in the same position before, I had a few guys under me but I had a bunch of people over me, the people over me just lost motivation as what they thought was good turned out it never was good but it worked out fine,
This caused the top lead to just not play or just not care enough, I couldn't do much but I keep trying to give a fight with the people under me,
And I feel for the guys, they were relatively new and felt left behind, I used those fights to show them how to go at it and used random tactics along with those that kept playing, we lost but we gave one hell of a fight and made it hard for everyone.
Interesting. Thanks for sharing
Astounding.
One of them should've used my juggernaut battleship design (which is on my workshop page)
It has a 300G gravity cannon that can tear an unshielded ship in half with one shot
Ridiculously powerful shields (darkstar bubble shield and kinetic barriers with cythons shields)
It's porcupined with beam laser turrets (I think 40 in total)
2 spinal mount big Bertha cannons
Projector based auto repair system (requires Kodiak strut welder mod)
nuclear bomb launcher (welds a thermonuclear warhead with a battery and mass block to be fired from the gravity cannon)
all wrapped in neutronium armor plating that is 7 blocks thick at its weakest point (can be subbed with heavy armor if you don't have modded armor blocks)
This thing is so big that it requires 5 projectors to build in one piece (or build the 5 sections and merge block them together)
On the server I used to play on, this thing survived an onslaught from the entire server, including 2 OP admin ships that were intended to make players rage quit
In that epic battle, it sustained massive damage, it had an entire engine nacelle missing (half the reactor power and propulsion gone) and had its entire engineering section destroyed (crippling the auto repair system) but it still survived against a server of 20 players
It was even more powerful with the modular laser system (where you can pipe lasers together to make a death star) that thing could burn a hole through itself in about 5 seconds with the original design
design name??

That's a fair point, the coalition vastly underestimated the khans
Me too 😅, darn EFN terrorists
Ja, es ist echt traurig.
They look like Halo Frigates and capital ships. One of them especially looks like the Pillar of Autumn
Yep, Eternitys advent, alot of earth's new ships are based off of the UNSC, out of universe obviously
well done man, i subbed
I play on a server with multiple active factions, including one that operates some public installations. They protect them with multiple frigates, many destroyers, and an unknown number of battleships and cruisers that exceed 14 million KG in mass, equipped with 75 turrets minimum.
Server is more stable for filming when using smaller vessels will specific armament limits
@@admiralmallard7500 my main vessel is a Thunderbird-type of rocket that is armed with six launchers and 34 turrets. Its much more stable and extremely responsive.
@@matthewgillies7509 Like thunderbird TV show? Neat
That's just brutal. Overestimating your position always feels devastating, politics is cheaper than blood.
strategy is key inm battles. during the korean and japanese war in i believe the 12th to 13th century, a fleet of about 30 (maybe more, dont remember this perfectly) korean boats sank a japenes fleet several times their size, to the point where the general of the fleet that beat the japanese became a legendary figure in their navy, and having your prowess being compared to his was an incredibly high honor. in fact during i believe the russo japanese war or ww2, one naval leader after a large victory had his skills compared to said korean general, but turned it down saying that while he was good, he wasnt that good (in essence) dont remember this perfectly, but it is a pretty cool story.
Admiral Yi
I like this. Quite a neat thing.
speed is life! destroyers move faster giving them the upper hand.
EVE Online players going: "Oh sweet summer child".
We don't allow PMW nor anything beyond basic scripts.
united we stand, divided we fall
Well I know a guy who likes to do this to PvP servers.
Grab a bunch of guys, build or get some mid size ships, load them with explosives and when a battle comes.
*TENNO HEIKA BANZAI!*
They tend to annoy the living crap out of everybody though.
That brings me back, check out S1, ep. 7.5
I'd love to get involved in something like this, but I'm not that well versed in ship building yet.. that, and I can't find a good server on the Series X
You don't need to be good at shipbuilding (or even fighting, for that matter) to take part!
@@Preseptic need a server that isn't just people spawning stuff..
@@admiralmallard7500 Ah, but it can be mitigated if you have design rules in place.
@@Gustav_Kuriga We do, there are designated ship classes, how they're made can differ but they all have the same maximum limit
@@admiralmallard7500 Any rules about only having a certain amount of thrust per ship class?
@@Gustav_Kuriga That is something we're implementing for next season after certain ship designs this season made it nessecary
All that's missing now is Gundams
Hi bro can you tell me the player count in this war? It sounds like there were A LOT of ships and therefore players. Im new to the game and have nobody to play with so those battle sizes just impress me
it's not that big.
most battles are limited to 4v4.
The battle of malta 4 instances of 6v6 + all the static assets.
SE cannot handle much more than that sadly.
@@GetBrocked oh damn I supposed it was like that
Most serious PVPers seem to get banned from most servers.
Makes sense, no one likes seeing their creations constantly destroyed.
If it happens enough times the player will usually either quit the server or the game and admins don't want that.
It wasn't that, they were just had the right mindset and better tactics going into this season.
Space D&D Baby lol I really enjoy your content I need a pc I wanna Rp long time table top gammer and this series is awesome
5:40 I recommend making this more transparent because it really hurt my eyes
Is the Eternity just a BIG pillar of autumn reference?
inspired yes
GIVE THE MONEY TO HIM TH-cam
WTF???
Well, this will be interesting
Cracked morale is ROUGH!
Is this on PC? The map grids for territory is cool, I would like to know more about it
Yep, PC server, check out the discord
I bet the Space Force is taking notes.
