The head of the Scottish parliament is a woman. And she enjoys MASSIVE popular support. However, I can confirm that the misogyny doesn't go away. Barely a week goes by without some grotesque little troll crawling out of the woodwork to pass comment on her looks, how she dresses etc. Just the other day there was an article in the paper about the shoes she wore to Downing Street, suggesting she was trying to "out-shoe" the Prime Minister, Theresa May. Because I'm sure that the Scottish First Minister and the Prime Minister had nothing better to discuss that a comparative study of their respective footwear. Even worse, when she recently candidly remarked on having suffered a miscarriage, and the effect it had on her, someone commented: "The most horrible thing about that is that it means someone must have shagged her." Horrible people are still going to be horrible, no matter how much progress society in general makes.
1. How is talking about shoes misogyny? Especially as men don't care for that at all in general. 2. People say mean things about others (especially in power) just to be mean and take what they think is a point of vulnerability. Its not about her being a woman. Please make better arguments. PC is not progress but a step back (all the way to the 19th century)
On the more positive spin though, 3 of our party heads are women, 3 are openly LGBT and although sexism and homophobia still exist, the majority of political commentary is issues focused. Certainly being a woman and/or LGBT isn't treated as a disqualifier in gaining political office.

i spent 2 years in the Marshal Islands and all though its thought of as a 3rd world country and in many ways lacks what we are used to in the U.S. the people are very friendly for the most part and will make you feel welcome. Even if they have very little, they will share it with you. The government that runs everything is still not ideal. And that's putting it nicely. But the people are very respectful of elders and friendly despite their situation at times.
The part about Madeline Albright's granddaughter is why non white women entering politics is so important. If they stick it out and do well, it's easier for the next person.

There isn't a problem with a female president. Not a single problem. It's just the specific woman they chose to be their nominee to be president. Her policies. Her history. Her continuing scandals surrounding her emails. I get there is a glass ceiling that needs to be broken. I understand this, but couldn't the nominee be a woman nominee who isn't dogged by scandals like Hillary Clinton is?

Taco1011 the email "scandals" are pretty tame if you actually LOOK at them. You see, the Bush administration deleted 100x as many emails, not to mention they got us into a profiteering war for Cheney.

i spent 2 years in the Marshal Islands and all though its thought of as a 3rd world country and in many ways lacks what we are used to in the U.S. the people are very friendly for the most part and will make you feel welcome. Even if they have very little, they will share it with you. The government that runs everything is still not ideal. And that's putting it nicely. But the people are very respectful of elders and friendly despite their situation at times.
The part about Madeline Albright's granddaughter is why non white women entering politics is so important. If they stick it out and do well, it's easier for the next person.

Technically some of the Eastern United States DID have a female head of state, just not a president.
The fact that many Trump supporters don't like Hillary on the basis of misogyny may very well be true, but let's not sit here and declare that disliking Hillary for whatever reason is inherently sexist. If we automatically assume that anyone who dislikes her does so because of her gender, aren't we ourselves creating a hypocritical double standard?
Nobody did that in this clip or on this show. Yes, there are a lot of positions and actions by Hillary Clinton worthy of criticism. The problem is that nobody brings them up. Instead they make up shit, create conspiracy theories and make wild accusations. Hillary Clinton has been accused, smeared and judged by a double standard (which has not been in her favor) for decades.
And somehow nobody on the right could find any actual EVIDENCE for illegal behavior. Otherwise some right wing prosecutor would have sent her to jail years ago.

Whether it's on the surface or just implicit bias, it's important people realize it and try to combat it. This isn't to say you have to support her as a candidate, but bear it in mind when you judge her as compared to other candidates who don't happen to be female.
