  • At one time, Christians, particularly Reformed Christians, were the intellectual leaders in America, but this is no longer the case. We are largely marginalized and have abdicated intellectual leadership to secularists. In this message, Dr. W. Robert Godfrey examines the role that anti-intellectualism played in this self-inflicted problem and what we must do to turn it around.
This message is from our 2012 National Conference, The Christian Mind: • The Christian Mind: 20...

That teaching was so good, it really helped me think through my faith with a more reasonable insight as to how the mind should function cogently with both knowledge and reason as handmaids of the Christian faith.
Thank You, Lord, for the life of Dr. Godfrey and the wisdom you have given him.

The Story of the Shrewd Manager and the command to face our rivals with the shrewdness of snakes should give us pause to fully consider that Jesus expected us to use our minds well.

Also, Jesus gave us 2 ultimate commands: to serve God and to serve others. I think that Christians often forget, to use their minds to serve “others”. You spoke of The Lord wanting us to serve God, as many others do. But Paul made it plain, that when we serve others, we are fulfilling the Law. So, using our minds in creative endeavors, administrative endeavors, teaching endeavors, building endeavors, physiological endeavors, etc., are some ways we can serve God by serving others with our minds, like the extreme example Christ gave in Philippians 2:5. We are servants...most of all....servants who think.

One thing I’ve noticed is how charismatics in my life have often tried to dissuade me from learning and studying
    All of them
    Pastors
    Wives of pastors
    Teachers
All them have wanted to keep me dumbed down along with everyone else …why is that

    Knowledge with pride puffs up

The point of the song is that education is not more important than common consideration. If I've got to be abused by someone, just to begin, to learn how to relate to my brothers and sisters, who needs it? There was a growing trend, in Britain at the time, of teachers using quite unorthodox methods in the classroom. Like another song they wrote "Another Brick in the Wall". What is education but awareness??

The most missed text in the Bible is John 3:16
And “this is my body “
    And “knowledge puffs up”

Why do all these videos say "Live" when they are all recorded? Seems deceptive for a Christian ministry.

Is there a problem with that? In reality there are always a fair amount of young people at the Conferences.

You're right and that corroborates with the Dr. Godfrey lecture... Young people, sadly, don't care about knowledge anymore

@@ken.wyd_ You're right Ken, there is for sure a group of young thirsty for the Word of God. Our hope is that a revival comes to this nation since it has exchanged the Glory of God for the mamon god.

More than almost anything else, the prayers of church grandmothers are precious and have done more good for the world than almost anything in history.
Thank God for these old people listening to ligonier
