Brandon, I know this is probably out of your hands but that site to get the tickets was the worst experience I've ever seen. The ticket was in my cart and I was then stuck in an endless loop of being told to log in despite being logged in. Knowing I had the vip and seeing it disappear because of a bad site is the worst feeling.
You are absolutely not the only one that happened to. Completely gutted.
It should have your cart saved for 2 hours so if you CAN get through the login anything in the cart should still be there! Worked for me
I think the site was just overloaded with people logging in to buy tickets.
@@parschamp it did not for me, and sounds like for a lot of people....then after VIP was sold out took almost 30 minutes of my wife and I each trying to get a regular badge before it finally worked.
Agreed, while I’m really excited for the convention, this was a terrible buying experience.
"The badges are on sale now." Correction: The badges were on sale then. They sold out within an hour or two and would have sold out in 15 minutes had the site worked.
They were sold within 50 minutes. I really wish companies would stop underestimating our passion.

Stinks how bad Tabletop dropped the ball on the Dragonsteel Nexus ticket event. Site crashed horribly over and over. Wasn’t able to checkout with VIP tickets. Thankfully was finally able to get a regular ticket, although that didn’t go through till there were 700 left. And I was at my computer ready 10 minutes before the sale started.
Just hopping in here to throw my comment that tabletop was BRUTAL. Getting kicked, "you have to be logged in to do that" after logging in like 30 times. It was a stressful loop especially seeing the number of the badges dropped. Started the process with 1500 regular badges left and finished it with just under 300 left. Got my regular badges and super happy about it, but man I hope the site is better next year.
The tabletop site this year was an absolute disgrace. Force logged out repeatedly when I had a ticket in my cart. Told me I had to log back in and then repeatedly did it. Sold out before I even could get a chance
If you can get back in the ticket should be preserved in your cart for 2 hours
If it’s still in your cart keep trying
Buying tickets was a nightmare, the tabletop website kept logging me out. Allowed cookies and everything. But I got 'em!
Awesome update, but I am just going to vent here for bit.
I am disappointed with Tabletop Events, I have a VIP ticket in my cart ( was right there and logged in at 10am ), but it force logs me out and doesn't allow me to check out. Very disappointed at not being able to attend this year. I know it's not Brandon's/Dragonsteel's fault, but on the software end at Tabletop Events, they should have planned and prepared better.
Edit and Update: I was able to get my VIP ticket and some general admission tickets for my friend and his fiancé as their wedding gift. We are excited to attend and can’t wait until December.
I’m going to leave the original comment, because I believe that it should serve as a reminder to those hosting websites need to rent out more server space when Brandon Sanderson decides to use your website. We all want a fair shot, and if this keeps happening ( server and website issues ), we will not be happy.
If it’s in your cart then it’s reserved for 2 hours, keep trying login until you can make it to the checkout screen
The fandom crashed everything. I got a signed numbered wor leatherback and it was only by about 10 seconds then they were gone.
If it's in your cart, keep refreshing. You have to be stubborn as a mule. I managed to get mine.

@@user-ec8eb8ou9pThank you for giving us hope, I was stubborn like a mule and I was able to check out and get my ticket, but also get tickets for my friend and his fiancé as part of their wedding present. Had to sit there for about 10 minutes attempting to log in, but it paid off. Thank you very much and I hope to see you there!
Really frustrating experience with table top games web site. As soon as 10 AM hit, I was refreshing, trying to buy 2 VIP badges. The site totally fell down and kept prompting me to log in (even though I was logged in!). All I could do was watch helplessly as the VIP badge count dwindled. I managed to score 1 of them but had to get just a normal badge for my son (who dearly wanted a VIP badge also). Didn't they know that there would be a surge in site traffic at 10 AM?
Gotta say, trying to buy a badge was a horrific experience. Two friends and I were planning on getting VIP badges, and we couldn't even get access to the site before they sold out. Then we couldn't log in, then we very nearly missed out on just a General Admission badge. We have hotels and flights already purchased. To have the actual badges be so difficult to actually obtain was... stressful.
I wish people luck in getting tickets, that site was not built for Stormlight 5
Recommendation for future Nexus events: having a single day option. In the past Dragonsteel events, I have just attended the free bits. I would like to do some of the event things but don't have the money or time to participate all three days. So recommendation for the future!
I know that would require more pre-planning of events and such, but I just think it would be a nice option
Especially for kids who can’t miss school but want to come on Saturday
AND if you pick your single day, that allows more people to be able to participate
That ticket buying experience was terrible. I live close by and was excited to get a ticket only to see them disappear... Perhaps you could sell Single Day Tickets? Such as, if someone who lived close by, wanted to attend for that Saturday. It just sucks being so close by and always wanting to attend but never able to. Of all the amazing things you do as a company, this is always the worst. Oh, and the fact that I can't buy the book to pickup at the convention because I don't have a badge. SERIOUSLY
Actually so upset, the website would not log me in so I couldn't purchase VIP. I was on the site at 10 and minute by minute I watched the tickets run out while the site kept refreshing and not actually logging me in.

Same thing happened to me. I saved up all year for this convention and got screwed buy trash technology. heartbroken

Dear Brandon's minions: due to the Tabletop log-on fiasco, I was unable to get a VIP badge. It took 45 minutes, and I barely got the General Admission badge for myself. My friend who was purchasing at the same time as me miraculously got a VIP badge for himself. Will there be an opportunity to upgrade my badge before the Con starts? I know I am not the only person to experience this.
In the same situation here. We were hoping to experience everything together and now we will have to figure out how to do that with one of us having VIP and the other GA. Hoping there will be a chance to upgrade.

Could we maybe get the Szeth pin or something available in the online shop as a sort of consolation for those who either couldn't make it, or lost our tickets due to the site not working properly?
He put together the team that chose this vendor. Buck still stops with him. I hope he reads every one of the comments from people who were hurt by this fiasco.
This will probably get lost among the understandable sea of comments, but really awesome how the time was taken to record a free audiobook, rather than just releasing the text. Massive gesture for people who are differently sighted

Very very disappointing to have to cancel a plane ticket and hotel room because the VIP badges sold out in 8 minutes and general admission sold out in 45 minutes while Tabletop logged me out continuously. Honestly, it has soured the whole idea of the convention.
I would wait a week if I were you. Brandon will probably come out with something. Would stink to lose your ability to go while they figure out a workaround.
And they may not be able to, sure, but I don’t think you are going to lose anything by waiting a week. Just my 2 cents.
Same boat, I already have hotel and plane ticket booked. Hope someone changes their mind or Brandon releases some more tickets. But even if he does, what if it happens again?
Try contacting them directly. I suspect that they may find a workaround for people with plane tickets and hotel reservations who were prevented from getting badges, but they might not open it up generally again, lest you miss the second window.
@@cece6165 hopefully you see the weekly update today. For people who got plane tickets he is taking tickets he had set aside for his friends and giving them to people who had already bought tickets.

Technically not true. They sold out about 45 minutes after this was posted. I was barely able to get one and I didn’t even watch the video, just clicked on the link in the description and kept hitting refresh on my browser until I got it.
So sad, I was at work and couldn’t log on to buy a ticket and when I finally did, they were gone. Yay for the Cosmere love out there, sad for me!
Can you address the website issues? It was a terrible buying experience, kept being asked to login in multiple times, badges didnt even load properly, it felt heart breaking seeing the VIP badge and then seeing it disappear because everything was sold out ..
That website sucked BALLS! So many loops of logging in, picking a badge option, then saying I had to log in even though I just did, and a bunch of verification emails, etc. Please please please use a different site next time
For those who missed out, I would check back in starting around 2 hours after launch time to see if anyone’s badges that were reserved in cart but never checked out start getting kicked back to available. Good luck out there
I couldn't click it fast enough 😭 I think there were maybe 2 VIP tickets that dumped back from carts
Was able to pick up 2 GA tickets this way. I didn't think I'd need to rush for GA and skipped the initial cluster, silly me. Got lucky, I snagged 2 but missed out on 5 others as they became available, as I clearly wasn't the only person still spam refreshing.
The VIP's are sold out! I signed in at 9:59 AM Clicked the badge as soon as it opened. I tried to ad a VIP badge, didn't work, clicked it several times, then it kicked me out made me log in again...and they where all gone, really bummed!

Yeah, they all flooded through at the same moment. The servers finally went through and I got mine at 10:09am and it said there were still 1479/1500 tickets available. A minute later they were all gone. Wish they had made much more VIP tickets available

Wait a week or so before canceling anything. They may figure something out for people like you all. At least that is what I would expect from Brandon and all of Dragonsteel: they act like honest and trustworthy people, so we will expect them to behave in character.

Managed to grab a ticket despite the website fighting me at every point. Time for my first trip to the States this year I guess!

Too bad I have a job. This was going to be a big event for me and my family. Not sad I missed out on all the frustration that everyone had. Just sad that I can't participate in the event at all due to being at work when the tickets went live.

I've seen many people comment about this, but that was a stressful hour of logging in over and over watching first the VIP tickets vanish after being added to cart at least a half a dozen times, trying everything I could to resolve the problem the desperately hoping I can even get a ticket at all.
So excited for everyone that's able to go to Nexus! For those of us that can't -- will we be able to purchase signed books/bundles for Wind and Truth through your website? I believe that's what you did for Defiant, but I can't quite remember!

I am looking for the same thing. On the tabletop website where they are currently being old they are only available for pickup at the convention. Everything for sale there is not being shipped right now which is pretty disappointing.

Did finally manage to get my 2 tickets GA, but like many others, had the most awful time doing it. Had planned on getting VIP, and watched the entire stock vanish while I couldn't log in. I know the horde of Sanderson fans is a lot, but not having the right infrastructure in place for ticket sales like this leads to such an incredibly frustrating experience. I hope this gets fixed in the future.

Also unable to buy GA. There's gotta be a better way to handle this after the WoR Leatherbound release debacle and this one. Brandon's got some serious draw, time to find a better network engineer at the least. I'd prefer to see capacity increased so nobody gets left out, though

I'm so sad about how quick badges went! I wasn't able to purchase, and I'm trying not to freak out... 😟 I already have two different costumes planned for me and my husband. His Christmas gift to me last year included a promise to attend Dragonsteel 2024 AND to dress up! Totally out of his comfort zone but he knows how much I loved attending and dressing up last year. We NEED tickets! PLEASE sell more! 🙏
I’m guessing he will. The venue can hold much more than what he got last time. I wouldn’t be surprised if we found out within a week that he is going to expand it and offer more tickets.

I really liked Hoid in Dragonsteel Prime, I hope his story doesn’t change too much for the Canon Dragonsteel
I have been a Sanderfan since Elantris, and have religiously attended Dragonsteel for years. I got on to the website after the tickets went live to buy general admission for me and my family... and couldn't figure out why it wasn't actually letting me buy tickets. We've been planning this for a year. My wife had already requested work off. Super disappointed!!
Also frustrated that I had to come here to learn what was going on. Seems like his website should have had a short blurb addressing this.

Yeah, this video lasted longer than the VIP tickets, please implement some kind of queue or something, this is the second time the servers have decided who got VIP packages within a year. It felt really, really bad to be able to see VIP tickets, click add to cart, and have a server reject my attempt to get tickets, refresh, get rejected again ad nauseam while I watched as the ticket count went to zero.
Absolutely devastated that I wasn’t able to get a ticket this year. I’ve been every other year. The website was terrible and didn’t work for me at all

@@Kaden970 me too. I was able to Et a ticket but I feel so sad for everybody who didn’t. I’ve been a Sanderson fan for over a decade and if I have seen anything, he is so in touch with what people want that he will make it happen.
@@Panamaniac3D it’s true. He’s been very good to his fans. I’m in your same boat. I started reading him in 2009 when I discovered mistborn. Have read all his Cosmere books 20+ times at this point.

Getting those regular tickets was the most harrowing 45 minutes of my life. I lost count of how many times I had to log in 😢. So sad VIP sold out before I could get the site to let me iiiin

I have not felt as disappointed at the letdown regarding buying event tickets as I do today. As I’m sure many of you also did, I clicked buy VIP badge at the exact same time as my friends did exactly when the buy badges buttons appeared. Only 3/5 VIP badges secured for our friend group purely out of luck battling that broken website and terrible fan experience. We barely got the other 2 of us general admission badges and swag/book bundles. I battled SDCC tickets for 5 years, and somehow this felt 10x more disappointing and unfair. Please fix this next time! Also, if there’s some way to prioritize any refunded VIP tickets first to GA ticket holders as an upgrade option before releasing to general public, that’d mean the world. 😢❤
Same happened to me. I couldn’t get VIP but my partner did and we were there at the same time. Pretty upsetting as we planned this for a long time and wanted to do everything together and now have two different ticket types. I would upgrade if we could.
I know others weren’t able to get tickets at all, so I don’t mean to come off ungrateful. I am lucky my partner was able to get us one VIP and one GA ticket as I wasn’t able to get it to work on my end at all in the end to even get myself a ticket.

I think single day options would be a good idea, especially since the tickets are already gone 😅

This event sold out in minutes for all badge types. That is not approachable for fans and something must give.
Have 1 ticket in my cart. Hopefully traffic dies down before it disappears. Been looking forward to this all year. Sure would be disappointing if i came that close and wasnt able to get one…
Was able to buy it about an hour after i initially put it in my cart! Hopefully Brandon and his team will be able to figure something out for those that weren’t as lucky as myself
I just got general. And to be honest i was disappointed. I had VIP before the log out issues so i had to settle with general for me and my friend (unfortunately another friend of us won't attend). And I saved up so much just for site to die constantly and deny tickets for over half a hour until eventually both general and VIP were gone. I'm more upset at the fact it one of my buds can't come over than losing VIP. The issue not dragonsteel/Brandon but it's still a problem from tabletop which did kinda ruin my day
@brandsanderson, My 13 year old son is so excited to attend! We just bought the general admission tickets. We were trying to buy the VIP tickets, but there were so many issues with the website that they were sold out before we were able to get it working. We still had tech issues with the general admission tickets, but managed to secure them.
Is there anything that can be done for my son who was looking forward to VIP?? I'm sure others are feeling the same way 😊

If vip was still in your cart you could still buy it because the spot was held for you

@parschamp It didn't save mine either. I pressed ad to cart like 20 times and nothing. Tabledrop messed up. And Dragonsteel didn't scale anywhere near as much as they should have. Only 1500 more tickets than last year for Defiant is a joke.

Ok, I'm glad that I wasn't the only person who had a terrible experience trying to get badges today, but I'm sorry to those of you who weren't able to get anything. This was by far my most stressful experience trying to get high demand tickets of any kind, and I survived the Ticketmaster catastrophe that was getting Taylor Swift Tickets in Nov 2022. I did end up being able to get two general admission tickets for me and my SO after about 35 minutes of being run around, redirected, and logged out over, and over, and over again. But early on I lost the ONE VIP ticket that I wanted when I was redirected to another login page (which btw, I was logged in and ready to go before it even opened). While I'm not specifically placing blame anywhere (I'm sure Dragonsteel wasn't to blame, and the host site probably didn't know the high volume of traffic they would encounter), I would love for there to not be a repeat of this for other Dragonsteel events. That majorly sucked.
It doesn't have to be live action to be amazing. I'm sure many of us would be quite happy with any of your stories being brought to the screen in an animated format.

I think a storm light anime would be cooler than a movie or live action show. Different media lean to different strengths. Books are great for getting into character headspace, live action is great for verisimilitude, and animation is great for over the top visual fantasy. I feel the cosmere is strongest for the character arcs and how the characters process difficult emotional challenges, so books capture that best. Second, cosmere books have amazing over the top action in fantastical settings, great for animation. I really don't turn to them for verisimilitude echoing real life.

My husband suggested that Brandon might consider handling the VIP tickets like he does with his signings. Everyone would just buy a regular con ticket, and then a drawing could be held for those interested in VIP tickets. Those that win get upgraded and their regular tickets go back on sale.

Exactly my experience for the entire 9 minutes I saw tickets. Get badge in cart while logged in. Get not logged in error. That loop kept happening until they were sold out.
It saves your cart for 2 hours, keep trying to log back in and the ticket(s) should still be in your cart and purchasable. Worked for me after several re-login attempts
@parschamp I do see I got only 1 vip in on them however it's stuck under my name and It won't let me change it to my husband's. Is that something they can fix after do you know?

Yep, my partner got me a VIP and had to get one general admission. We both wanted to get VIP but I couldn’t get it to work on my phone. I had VIP but it wouldn’t let me add to cart. Lucky he made it through to at least get us tickets of some kind on his end after a long time of issues..what a stressful event.

Hi Brandon i was curious about those meetings that dont go anywhere. How does that happen? Do you get called in and people tell you "yeah we want to make it but it costs too muc money"? Are you just trying to convince people it will make money? Could you shed some light on this?
Just throwing in my 2 cents here, i got my VIP ticket, but the experience was aweful, like many other people complaining here i was logged out constantly and everytime i got to the pushace screen id see the number of availble tickets decrease, a heart wrenching experience over all.
Guess anyone with a job aint goin. "General admission badges will be available for a long time." he says. Brandon can't see the future but that one rotted and stunk up the place.
Unfortunately, the website won't let me buy my badge because it keeps saying "you need to be logged in to do that" even though I am already logged in

Either wait until the demand dies down or just keep trying, I tried for like 10mins and eventually got my ticket

Managed to get mine and my friends' badges. When I started, there were 4500, and when I finally got them, there were only 190.
@Fouxjin oof, right on time. Luckily I only needed the one. I managed to convince my friends to come to America with me but none of them read, let alone read Sanderson so I couldn't convince them to spend money on coming to Dragonsteel too
