I thought to share one tip that makes my peel-off stay a lot better: Just don't paint your nail all the way with the peel-off, but leave a mm or two free from it in the cuticle area and paint the glitter all the way. When you have to peel them off, it comes off perfectly but it doesn't pop off when you don't want it to.This is handy for me at least, because I like to keep my polish on for almost a week (as I'm a student and don't have time to do my nails so often).
I realize this post is many years old now and that we have lots of non-DIY options on the market today that weren't available at the time you were doing your experiments, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this video. I find value in the lessons we can learn from unexpected outcomes, even full-on failures. I also never once felt like you'd lost the thread & were rambling. Most of all, I will always appreciate someone with an inquisitive mind who shares their ideas with us! Besides, if I can easily make something myself, save some money in doing so and still meet my needs, then why on earth wouldn't I want to do that?!? So, I thank you for sharing this and I will definitely still give it a shot because you taught me several things I would never have thought of on my own. Cheers!😃
I have read resoonses..let me first say a honest thank you...I loved it all...I am constantly reminding people. ..first if you think you can do better. .in any area.. post your tutorial...remember we all take different paths to reach the common goal...and the only time you look down on someone is when you're helping them up. .the tone of her voice. .is hers... at least she was a help. ..look forward to more of your tutorials
I know Janelle over at elleandish did a comparison between the OPI and the homemade peel-off base coats, but hers didn't show any fails like this. I'm glad to see this though, even if it is a little rambly - these kind of "process" videos (?) help me learn and brainstorm for my own attempts, so thank you!
3 years too late, but never delete the fails. Those are the best learning experiences for the rest of us of what not to do 🤔. We laugh, we learn, we avoid throwing things against the wall. Love your videos ❤️💅🏻❤️💅🏻❤️
Guy was a great 👍 hope your days are all you guys again and again I just got home and I’m so excited to be able I love it and I’m glad I didn’t get my phone back to work
Hi, it was lovely to see you in person! I have been a subscriber for a while, but may have missed other tutorials where you yourself appeared! When you are used to someone's voice, you get a picture of what they look like, but they are rarely like what you have imagined! Keep up the excellent work! 😊❤😊
I've never seen glitter come off so easily!!! That alone has made me want to try to make my own. It'll be worth 2 semi-fails for such an easy glitter removal! Thanks for sharing.
I love my peel off base coat that i made. Love it so much that i use it for every manicure i do. Its just so great if you are able to get the correct consistency. I am in the process of makin another bottle and i just hope and pray that it turns out as well as my first attempt. Love love love your videos.!!!
this is a little funny for me to watch. i've been peeling off all of my polish for a few years now. i'll only ever use polish remover for the bits that don't want to peel off easily, which is kinda rare. i use sally hansen hard as nails hardener as a base coat, usually 2 thick-ish coats of my nail color, and seche vite top coat. i'm not sure what exactly makes it easy for me. but i find that glitter polishes or just more layers of polish are the easiest to peel off. it's life changing when you figure out you don't have to mess with polish remover anymore. haha. :)
OMG!!! So happy I found you again...subbed years ago but the notification was not turned...something new on TH-cam!!! I just turned on the notification so that I never miss your video's again. I like the new piercing...I have 3 new ones too!!! All the best, Michelle
I made a peel off base coat and i put on the peel off base first, let it dry and then i add a reg base coat after and then paint my nails. Stays on a little longer and still is easy to peel off.
Thank you for making this video! Hearing you ramble is actually quite nice and homely haha and I'm definitely trying this! Seems to be better for your nails than soaking them in acetone to get off glitter polish! :)
OMIGOSH YES! Thank you so much for this! You see more than half of my nail polish collection is glitter so I'm always having such a hard time removing it. Thank you for this tip!!!
I tried this before and I found out that it works best if you use a little bit of water, mod podge, and school glue.... Mixed together makes a great peel off base coat.
I've had requests but I'm hesitant to make on, there are so many awesome makeup gurus - one tutorial I got a lot of my technique from (although I've changed a bit over time) is from Julia Graf
My Simple Little Pleasures awww you should totally do one! Your brows are on point. I keep trying but ever since they messed my eyebrows up the last time I had them waxed I can't get them to cooperate.
I mixed water with clear glue. Applied 3 coats. Some of them started peeling within a few days, but overall I was very satisfied. Next time I will use only 2 coats. Thank you so much!
You can prank your friends with that or a fake nail Step 1: get supplies Step 2: get a friend to prank (just do it with anyone even your mom) Step 3: pretend to take off nail polish Step 4: pretend you accidentally peeled of nail Step 5: YOU HAVE FREAKED THEM OUT NOW LAUGH LIKE H***
Thanks for this vid; it was very informative. Sometimes learning what DOESN'T work is key to getting it right. I've tried different techniques and a few things I've found that work best is: having slightly oily nails to start with, several total coats to make the peel off thick, and waiting at least 2 days before I try to peel them. I've never tried the glue, I'll give it a try soon.
If the Peel Off Base Coat is a glue-water mix, couldn't you technically just soak your nails in water? or does the nail polish seal it in? Because if the water could get to the glue (and it's still soluble, right?) wouldn't the nail just fall off? Especially if the polish was a little stuck and not popping off.
I think it depends on your application - the polish seems to mostly seal it in but I think if your hands were in water for a long time, that would start to dissolve it.
I have to congratulate you girl! It is amazing.👍You are doing great, I'm sure you will perfect your formula and it will be worth all the hard work. It has been an awesome tutorial and I will try it like you and let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for the lesson today!
when your nail breaks and you save it by patching it so you dont have to cut all of nails short because of one. Some people use nail glue and tea bags for patching, I use a small piece of Kleenex and lately a dry piece of baby wipe and glue and my nails are holding up, long and strong!
Margarita VC thanks! I just saw her video on it haha! I should do that though since my nails are very weak sometimes especially during the winter! Thanks :)
I'm wondering if anyone else has been having major issues with Seche Vite peeling off. I bought my first bottle and used it for months and loved it. Never a problem with peeling- made my manicures last way longer than any other top coat I used. So, I ordered two bottles on sale and am thoroughly upset with it. I have not been able to use it yet without some peeling happening the very first day of my mani! Is this happening to other people? I'm not doing or using anything differently than I did when using the first bottle. :-/
Yeah, it peels off for me too! But it really only happens after a few days when my polish starts chipping. But I love peeling my polish off, so it doesnt really bother me any!
Yes! All three bottles I have purchased peels off on me! I have tried it with different base coats and different nail polishes, and it's always the same result. I even bought the thinner to thin it down. I love the shine and quick dry, but hate having to touch up or repaint my nails after just one day because it peels off!
I will be sure to try this because the harsh chemicals in nail polish remover really make my nails hRd brittle dry and cracky! By the way may I mention your hair looks amazing! 👍😊
it definitely is a cheaper alternative, but I have to say, I prefer the Unt peel off base that I use now - it peels much better and while it is $10 a bottle, the bottle seems to last a really long time, I'm still on my first bottle and I think I got it around February
I used elmers glue for mine and I just filled up the bottle with glue and put a little bit of water in the top and shook it and it works perfectly for me. I also use it for around my nails when I do water marble or sponging, it's a whole lot easier clean up for me.
Thanks for sharing.. Holo taco also sells a peel off base... But it's nice to know that we don't have to run out and spend all kinds of money or wait by the mail box for one to come...in order to have a peel base.
It's probably because your nail beds are covered in oils. Right before putting on your base coat, wash your hands, let your nails completely dry, then begin painting.
I usually have to wait a few 24 hours after doing my nails before getting them extensively wet, like showering or dishes, or they will just pop off no matter what base and top coat I'm wearing. Seche Vite is the worst though!
No need to do all this things and struggle....... I have a few steps that is probably easy to do So......... Step 1. First take some craft glue and put 3-4 drops of water then mix it Step 2. Mix this mixture until u get a creamy texture Step 3. Now put this mixture in your nail using a nail brush Step 4. Wait until the mixture is fully disappeared Step 5. Then put the nail polish of any colour u want Step 6. Now u can enjoy the nail polish for 12-15 hours Step 7. Then peel it off using your fingers or a cuticle cutter u can use a toothpick too (but make sure u don't hurt your self) Step 8. Then put some oil on your nail (castor oil, almond oil or coconut oil) Step 9. After the oil vanishes fully after 10-12 mins put so vaseline on your nails & cuticles Step 10. Now gently massage "Thank......... You.........."
You are so difficult to listen to you sound like you're uninterested and ready to take a nap. I really wanted to reap from the great knowledge you definitely have but you have such a monotone voice I had to mute you. I'm sorry I'm not a hater and I'm not trying to be mean you have so much to offer and it's interesting... I just couldn't take another minute of that tone! Sorry! But thanks anyway for the great tutorial!
surprisingly her voice is what made me continue watching! it made me want to know her and be her friend in real life because i love the sound of an intelligent persons voice ❤ she sounds like she went to college and i love her!
Thanks for the tips! I've been trying to figure out how to make the peel off base coat that I bought work. I've been cleaning my nails with acetone before I start. So I'm going to have to try it again without that step. Thanks again for the tips!
I loved this! It was very helpful to see your trial and error, especially since I have several patches on right now and know how they react to the basecoat after watching this. I would love to see your fourth try. Your hair is awesome too! Thanks!
Since the glue doesn't work well with acetone, maybe you should have washed the bottle and brush with soap + hot water. To aid in mixing the water and glue together, try adding a bb to the bottle. (Like in regular nail polish) It might mix it more thoroughly. Better yet, pour a little glue in a dish, use a larger brush to paint it full strength onto the finger. (If you're doing sponging/marbling.)
Thanks so much for sharing! I like that you show us your trials whether success or failure, it makes me feel like I can do it too! :) I am def going to try this once I get some glue. I love glitter, but I hate soaking in acetone and this seems like a better way to get it off.
How I go about my peel-off base coat: I don't paint my nails all the way to the cuticle area with it. I leave a little space there so that the nail polish catches onto the nail and that helps with keeping the polish on my nails for a little longer. I also wipe it off the tips with a q-tip before it dries completely. The glitter polish comes off great when I want to remove it. Usually, the parts of the polish that are directly on the nail come off as well anyway, because I use Seche Vite, and if they don't, it's still so very little cleanup it takes a few minutes to wipe the rest off with acetone.
When I first thought someone do I peel off base coat tutorial you were the first person I thought about and said to myself wow she could use this for all her water marbling. Have you done a tutorial with your water marbling and the peel off base coat.?
Those who are saying she talks too much , just shut up! At least she takes her time to make these videos! To the owner of this video--- you DONT talk too much, and anyone who says u do, are just taking their anger out on you so don't listen to them, anyways have a good day people, (and btw I think this is REALLY satisfying, u know the part where you simply peel it of like no big deal💁🏻, I know I got that phrase from simply nailogical
i'll most certainly b trying this its a pain in the bejezus taking glitter polish off,i always end up picking it off(horrible i know but oh so satisfying)tfs awesome vid xx
How well would this work for gel on natural nails? It’s always the center I can’t get off so even just as a fill in with a little space around the outside so it still adhered to the actual nail but I’m not waiting 45 minutes to get it all off?
I never tried any DIY peel off with gel. I did try Unt's peel off but that would pop off really fast with gel. I eventually gave Madam Glam's peel off a try & that's my preferred peel of for gel polishes now.
I liked it I enjoyed the errors bc it give a chance to more or less know what you go thru step-by-step . I thought it was very helpful. Ty so much I'd like to try to reach more though to c how to make it better and long lasting ty for sharing hope you get lots of views thumbs up Colette.
I love your videos....you just ramble a lot and I was wondering is there anyway to clean out a nail polish bottle without nail polish remover or acetone?
For the second and third attempt, did you change the ratio of water to glue? Also, I have tried this method as well. My nail polish brush seems to have become inflexible. Any tips?
No, I was going to mix up a new batch but once I figured out it was the acetone prep causing most of the problems, I just used my first batch. I still may mix another with slightly less water though
This was helpful. I tried the peel off base coat on my last manicure and only the cuticle area popped off and only when i applied a lot of force. I'm trying it again this time with a thicker coat in hopes it will work this time
I just want to thank you so much ! I do not have much money, am just getting into nails, but am married to an artist, so have glues to try! I have two questions, have you tried gel school glue? Also, how can a person with super short nails get them to grow? I am quite ill but i really want nails! I have tried Opi nail envy for sensitive and peeling, sally hansen! Both miracle grow and olive ext, i am about to try an oxygen product. I wondered is there a way to make your own treatments? I used coconut oil too. My nails are very dry. Bless you, grace
+Grace Brunelle (Gracespins) I haven't tried any other kinds of glue. Everyone's nails grow at a different speed, but really it's about retaining the length - I find for me that just wearing polish helps, other than that I just try to keep my nails very moisturized, lots of lotion & cuticle oil.
Everything she said, but also make sure you're getting enough protein, calcium and drinking tons of water! (: I noticed when I started getting hydrated and eating healthier my normally short, dry, flimsy nails started growing long and thick for the first time in my life.
Hello, I loved ur comment bcuz I'm disabled but into 💅 I'm natural now after years of acrylic. I've found that my nails break more when bare so I always have on polish with basecoat or just basecoat. I like to use a minimum of 3 coats of polish for thicker protection but not much more so they don't look thick & ugly. Also moisturize several times a day. I love this cuticle oil I just made with safflower & extra virgin olive oil mixed. I used an old empty polish bottle. Safflower oil moisturizes well but it's like the EVOO gives it a boost. Finally, use gloves when in water doing dishes or if ur doing extensive cleaning which dries ur 👐 moisturize. I have to rite after I grocery shop bcuz handling the items/packages dries my hands & cuticles out . medication can make ur nails dry, weak & brittle so be aware. I hope I'm of some help to u with this loooong reply & I'm here if u ever wanna talk nails. Thx Oh & room the host thx 4 a good through video.
Dear Tunisia, gorgeous name! Honey you really helped me,it is nice to talk to another person who understand s! I have both ous but not a nail polish bottle..hmmn I will use an empty pill bottle.U R right,my nails, hands dry out from the simplest actions. I saw a vid on acrylic and I won't try it,bless u Tunisia, grace on lots of drugs!
Dear Renee, honey, you hit the nail on the head.I am very dehydrated due to a lot of meds and nausea. Any tips on making water more palatable? I am hooked on diet soda, and I try to drink water but its hard. I very much appreciate your comment, peace, grace
i wonder if this could be a matter of like buffing the nails before you apply the base coat, cause if they're too clean buffing them would make them just rough/dirtyish enough i guess to make it possible which makes me wonder if this would be a good idea to use on acrylics right after you file/buff
I think I will try this with my Glow In The Dark Mod Podge glue, And use either a really sheer color polish, or a couple layers of a thin glitter polish... Even if it doesn't work out because it won't peel off, the glowing effect will make worthwhile.

Even watching this is extremely satisfying. I don't usually use base or top coat, so when I actually get whole nails to pull off, it's a good day.
Why didn't you list where you got water in the description?😂😂😂💦💦💦
Guy was a great 👍 hope your days are all you guys again and again I just got home and I’m so excited to be able I love it and I’m glad I didn’t get my phone back to work
You should do a galaxy nail tutorial! Thumbs up if you want to see it too:)
Great idea!
it's on my list - I've even done some testing but nothing I'm pleased with yet
I've done it with water marble I just can't explain it, do you have skype? I can show you if you want
Ok, super excited to see it when you find something you are satisfied with! :)

I had never heard of peel-off base coat before, this is a really cool idea for glitter polish!
You look so pretty!
I was actually wondering how to make this! Perfect timing!
I tried this before and I found out that it works best if you use a little bit of water, mod podge, and school glue.... Mixed together makes a great peel off base coat.
Can you do an eyebrow tutorial? Your brows look amazing not too harsh and not to cartoonish.
i think she gets them done
Oh. I thought she filled them in
They are so nice and I keep messing mine up.
I've had requests but I'm hesitant to make on, there are so many awesome makeup gurus - one tutorial I got a lot of my technique from (although I've changed a bit over time) is from Julia Graf
Tawni Jules I do them myself =) tweeze & then pencil to fill

....... She talked for about 5 minutes before actually showing us the real video. Please don't do that, it's boring.
I know
Yatana Galindo it's boring
I didn't like it either... but there's this thing called skipping
Sooo. Fck. True. 😒
But i like the rest of the vid. Tho
Not only are your nails gorgeous but so are you!!!
You can prank your friends with that or a fake nail
Step 1: get supplies
Step 2: get a friend to prank (just do it with anyone even your mom)
Step 3: pretend to take off nail polish
Step 4: pretend you accidentally peeled of nail
Step 5: YOU HAVE FREAKED THEM OUT NOW LAUGH LIKE H***
Wtf....
Lol
U devil :D
Honestly seeing the failure and what went wrong helps understand what not to do and let's you know what you can't do if you want it to work
Right now I have mod podge on my nails and it dries in about 3-4 minutes and if you have I would use that as a better alternative

I first tried this a few months ago and love it. It's so easy when using glitter.
Does it have to be Elmer's glue?
I don't think so, I've seen people use other kinds of white craft glue
I have to congratulate you girl! It is amazing.👍You are doing great, I'm sure you will perfect your formula and it will be worth all the hard work. It has been an awesome tutorial and I will try it like you and let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for the lesson today!

thank you for posting this. not everyone can afford the Simply Peel
U can't use simply peel you use peel of base coat btw I'm not trying to be rude

+Debbieomi have you tried Out the Door top coat?
I LOVE your natural hair!! It looks so good!

I will be sure to try this because the harsh chemicals in nail polish remover really make my nails hRd brittle dry and cracky! By the way may I mention your hair looks amazing! 👍😊
it beats paying 7-8$. Its crazy the things a company will sell. waterd down school glue. lol . thank u for the education😁

Thanks for sharing.. Holo taco also sells a peel off base... But it's nice to know that we don't have to run out and spend all kinds of money or wait by the mail box for one to come...in order to have a peel base.
I would definitely recommend any real name brand peel off base over the diy version - but I made this years ago before Holo Taco even existed LOL
My polish already always peels off in the shower lol. Super annoying!
It's probably because your nail beds are covered in oils. Right before putting on your base coat, wash your hands, let your nails completely dry, then begin painting.
really??? One true rule is that if you nail are thick the nail polish last longer. Also, apply top coat every day.
herflower05 . I never apply top coat everyday.... it tends to make my nail polish chip and peel off a lot.
Pepper Crisp Cool, but the Seche Vite is horrible.
I usually have to wait a few 24 hours after doing my nails before getting them extensively wet, like showering or dishes, or they will just pop off no matter what base and top coat I'm wearing. Seche Vite is the worst though!
Hun..Your skin looks so BEAUTIFUL!
No need to do all this things and struggle.......
I have a few steps that is probably easy to do
So.........
Step 1. First take some craft glue and put 3-4 drops of water then mix it
Step 2. Mix this mixture until u get a creamy texture
Step 3. Now put this mixture in your nail using a nail brush
Step 4. Wait until the mixture is fully disappeared
Step 5. Then put the nail polish of any colour u want
Step 6. Now u can enjoy the nail polish for 12-15 hours
Step 7. Then peel it off using your fingers or a cuticle cutter u can use a toothpick too (but make sure u don't hurt your self)
Step 8. Then put some oil on your nail (castor oil, almond oil or coconut oil)
Step 9. After the oil vanishes fully after 10-12 mins put so vaseline on your nails & cuticles
Step 10. Now gently massage
"Thank......... You.........."
That's better..!!😅
why is this so satisfying to watch
What is a patch
it holds together a break so it can grow out
ok thanks:)
I made this and I love it! I swear its made my nails really healthy and long!
I just wanted to know how to get get peel-of nails I didn't come to watch your whole story😲
I love all diys! This was a nice video and the formula and the end was really good - so nice job!
Loving the purple with the black x

Thanks for the tips! I've been trying to figure out how to make the peel off base coat that I bought work. I've been cleaning my nails with acetone before I start. So I'm going to have to try it again without that step. Thanks again for the tips!
less talk more work ur video Will take less time
+blinckys troll and miss most of the important points and lead to more questions.
yes
That's awesome! I'll definitely try that, because it looks like you don't need to use any acetone at all!
Thanks for this. I cant really find peel off coats in my nearby stores. Very helpful.
Eyebrows on fleek ! Sorry had to say that !💋💓💋💓💋😍😘😃😂
Thanks so much for sharing! I like that you show us your trials whether success or failure, it makes me feel like I can do it too! :) I am def going to try this once I get some glue. I love glitter, but I hate soaking in acetone and this seems like a better way to get it off.
it's kind of cool, that they come of pretty cleanly and in tact. it's kind of like you could use them after as a nail wrap or something!
Usually, the parts of the polish that are directly on the nail come off as well anyway, because I use Seche Vite, and if they don't, it's still so very little cleanup it takes a few minutes to wipe the rest off with acetone.
wow this was a great idea to do.I was bored and I just watched this video and i tried it out!!
When I first thought someone do I peel off base coat tutorial you were the first person I thought about and said to myself wow she could use this for all her water marbling. Have you done a tutorial with your water marbling and the peel off base coat.?
How long will it stay on for before it starts comming off?:)
+Millie WillieBillie I got some Simply Peel during the sale - I can't wait to use that phrase =)
+My Simple Little Pleasures cool😁🤗
The third attempt was great, this would so make getting glitter off of the nails easy,as it is a real pain to get off with ordinary remover. TFS. x
You are always too hard on yourself
i'll most certainly b trying this its a pain in the bejezus taking glitter polish off,i always end up picking it off(horrible i know but oh so satisfying)tfs awesome vid xx
I really like your videos because your so nice and you make the best nail tutorials ever
thats awsome
Ikr
2 coats of the Sinful Polish Basecoat under any polish does this for me. I love it
How well would this work for gel on natural nails?
My Simple Little Pleasures what do you use to make your nails grow im trying to get mine to grow back from breaking them from workin in the warehouse
This looks excellent for glitter yes I will be trying this. thank you
I love your videos....you just ramble a lot and I was wondering is there anyway to clean out a nail polish bottle without nail polish remover or acetone?
For the second and third attempt, did you change the ratio of water to glue? Also, I have tried this method as well. My nail polish brush seems to have become inflexible. Any tips?
No, I was going to mix up a new batch but once I figured out it was the acetone prep causing most of the problems, I just used my first batch. I still may mix another with slightly less water though
This was helpful. I tried the peel off base coat on my last manicure and only the cuticle area popped off and only when i applied a lot of force. I'm trying it again this time with a thicker coat in hopes it will work this time
Great video very helpful thanks for sharing and showing luv xoxo 💅💕💕💕
I was going to ask you if it would help with 2 coats. Looks like it worked better.
Thx
Oh & room the host thx 4 a good through video.
This may be a dumb question but I was just wondering, do you think this peel off base coat will work on acrylics?
I was actually wondering the same but about gel overlays :-)
crysc90 TalyaP100 I'm not sure, it may be OK or may react like the patches did
My Simple Little Pleasures Thanks Colette! I guess we'll have to give it a go... I'll report back afterwards :-)
You have a wonderful personality...you must have loads of friends.
Absolutely helpful!! I was wondering if someone had made their own peel off basecoat b/c it's really expensive and so are those nail strips
I think I will try this with my Glow In The Dark Mod Podge glue, And use either a really sheer color polish, or a couple layers of a thin glitter polish... Even if it doesn't work out because it won't peel off, the glowing effect will make worthwhile.
she talked for 4:41 minutes that ill never get back
At least u did something for 4 mins and 41 seconds
yup lol
Do you happen to know if clear glue would work too? Just because I have very little white glue left. Hope you respond! 😊
