Svend Noldan (April 25, 1893 - May 1, 1978) was a German painter and documentary filmmaker. Before the start of World War 1, Noldan had studied in Munich. In the 1920s he was part of the artistic avant-garde of the Weimar Republic. He was a Dadaists and close friends with Erwin Piscator.
For film, he came in 1920, when John Heartfield and George Grosz had built the UFA animation department, in protest against the murder of Karl Liebknecht. Noldan created cartoon characters, and worked as a specialist in special effects including for Viking Eggeling and Hans Richter . In addition, however, he soon turned his own films in 1930 and also founded his own film company - the studio Svend Noldan - until 1937 the fourteen industrial and cultural films produced.
It was around this time that Noldan created an animated series using a character named Hein Priembacke, which is reminiscent of the John Randolph Bray Studios character drawn by Wallace Carlson named Goodrich Dirt . Documentation shows that Hein Priembacke's Rides and Adventure (1928) could be the earliest appearance of this character as, Noland served as director, producer for the short. Two others are known to exist Priembacke in Afrika, and Priembacke und der Sägefisch.
Svend Noldan's rise began in 1933, when after the Nazi accession to the throne many of the most talented film artists left the country. In 1926, he led the animation camera for Leo Laskos two-part compilation film "The Great War"1935 and Leni Riefenstahl's film "Triumph of the Will" , and in 1939/40, for Fritz Hippler's propaganda films campaign in "Poland and The Eternal Jew" . In 1940/41, he turned the propaganda war documentary victory in the west . Noldan is considered the inventor of the War-land card tricks and put the "Jews spread" the rats spreading the same. He turned also own long documentaries like "What is the World?" (1933), Alfred Wegener's "Last Ride" (1936) and the propaganda film The Victory in the West (1940/41).
After the end of World War II returned to Noldan film industry. His company, based in West Berlin studio Noldan produced until 1968 commercials for BASF - about pest and weed control.

Nicely drawn and I guess it was meant to be funny (or maybe just humorous--I am sure there were no gag writers), although it is more of a story book tale than a cartoon. Nice, but hard to distinguish, goblin.

I can't remember which song this is, but, the genres is a German tango from the the late 1920s. There was one at the beginning of the video as well but, you tube copyright police muted it.
