The man who never failed never actually tried! At least you have the guts to put yourself out there and do all your work in the full glare of the public eye. That's not easy! Big respect for that! For what it's worth, I like it. Yes, the wheel colour is an issue and maybe it needed a contrasting colour on the shell but it's still a great looking buggy. Keep it up!
just starting to watch youtube again after being on and off rc for a while due to health , but Glenn I AM Loving This Build especially this Body , its absolutely Gorgeous, its just not used to being only two colors and now for you to have pulled this off whit the decals and body in only two colors just goes to show how well you actually do these cars 10/10 seriously top notch and its 100% 1 off - she's a thing of beauty all round my friend , thanks for sharing your inspirations 🙂
As soon as I saw the shell on there I thought the wheels need to go. It sucks as they are really nice looking but in the video the chassis and body look good together but the wheels stick out as completely different. I do think think the white wheels on there would tie it all together much better. I know it is a disappointment about the wheels but I think they gotta go to make it all work. Maybe you can strip the gold off of them and run them on something else as the raw aluminum??
Yeah, In think the problem is not enough contrast between the colours. So black highlights (?) here and there might help. Too many light colours for me.
I respect that you show every aspect of your build….even when it isn’t as spectacular as the rest of them. Btw thanks for the inspiration on the rothmans tribute, followed your steps to a T and it’s awesome. And long winded !
Not a fail IMO as I do quite like it as it is. I do totally get your point about the different golds. I think it would look better with some black decals to break up the gold a bit. The window nets and side vents are not working in the gold for me so I’d have to change those to the kit decals (including the rear window louvres). With some additional black decals I think then you get away a bit better with the gold wheels but I think black wheels could look better so you could dye the originals? 😮
I was going to say the same thing, to bring in some different decal colors starting with the black window netting. It wouldn't need much I don't think.
Hey Glen I like the look, why don’t you try the white wheels with the kit tyres just to see if they work. (Saved destroying the tyre writing ) and I would put the kit window / netting decals on to add the contrast.
I sit and stare at them for ages too. Once I paint them I then sit decals on it or use a little masking to hold them in place so I know they are in the right place. You know what, this is the first shell you have done I am not sure about. I may have to screen shot it and look at it for a while. My initial thought is the shell should have two colours but I agree, the wheels throw me off too. I have seen you change the look of before with a simple wheel change and it transforms. The way you fitted the stipes is awesome and look perfectly placed. The angled Optima at the front throws me a bit, I would have a decal so you see it straight from the front. I am always about lines though, just the way I am. I am no shell artists myself so I don't really have any ground to criticize but just my thoughts as requested 👍🏼
Would be interesting to see the Car with a set of gold wheels like you have on the Hotshot int he cabinet on there just for looks. The body and the chassis seem to work but the orange gold seem to throw everything out. Which is why a yellow gold wheel may bring it all together looks wise. Try them for looks (obviously wont fit correctly) but give you a good idea on if it is the wheels or not. But apart from the wheels it looks great....also wonder if black shell with the gold stickers (JPS style) would look good?
I think it came out awesome looking, the stickers match the chassis well enough... put white wheels and it's good to go... Hope to start my Turbo Optima build soon...maybe this weekend... have all the electronics now, a set of 2.2 wheels for running, and a runner body to paint up...
I love the white and gold, decals look amazing too. I think if those wheels were the same gold things would look different. That said, i would definitely try white or maybe chrome wheels tone things down. Get another set of tyres too, run the wheels that will not go in the cabinet. All that said, I would not be disappointed, this is my favourite car and it looks amazing
Hi Glenn, I think the different colors of gold look good. I do think the body has too much gold. Maybe, change a few of your decals might be a good option. Thoughts?
Unbelievable awesome job as always With that have to say on the table it looks great but outside with a different background look absolutely unreal! White car with background doesn’t help
Individually mint. Together I’m sat on the fence. I see what you’re getting at with the different gold contrast. Wheels just a bit to much. Decals don’t look far off champagne gold colour? Maybe spray kit wheels to tone it down if you want to keep the look ? White could work with couple of decals to break them up a bit ?
I think it looks great. I’d be proud of it. Just for fun, I’d try the white wheels with the kit tires just to see what the difference would be like. I’m betting it will help with figuring out what look you’re truly after. 👍
Great job. I like it. George Jenson a famous jewellery designer is iconic for using three different golds in there designs.👍 The only thing for me I prefer the black window net instead of gold. Thanks another great video.
I agree, it doesn't look right, the wheels are too dark. You'd think the guy making the wheels would get a closer colour match, and yes I realize different annodisers use different colours but still... I wonder if you painted the white wheels gold would it match the chassis better? I think the body might look better with some black, maybe the window netting, rear louvers, side scoop vents and maybe leave off some of the sponsor decals for the less is more effect. The gold of the decals to me doesn't quite look bright enough, maybe it's just the way it shows up on camera. Also, I reckon put the right front bumper on and have the long gold decal along the front of it. Or there's always box art. :P
You said it before I typed it but my choice would be white wheels and find a black car to put the gold wheels on. That said once you put it in the cabinet it looked totally different and spot on. I'd be very happy with it personally Glenn, great work 👍
Black wheels, black '210' race number on the sides, black rear window louvres and side vent stickers, and black small sponsor logos (like the ngk etc) on the nose. Maybe a 1mm black pinstripe around the windows as well. The gold graphics on the white do look really nice, and the gold shocks are pretty close to the sticker colour when you consider they are totally different materials. The gold wheels are ick though for sure, However they would look quite nice alongside a black JPS paint scheme. I give it a solid 8.5 out of 10. Close to looking amazing, just needs a little fine tuning.👍
Wasn’t crazy about the shell till you put the writing decals on it that worked great. I think either white, chrome or even black wheels would work. All in all great job!
The idea is epic but I feel it just needs a darker contrast to make the gold decals pop. If it were mine I would put the. black louver decals on the rear. The black turbo optima nose strip and the black 210 numbers. Some of the turbo optima writing in black would also go on. I would be tempted to get a new set of gold turbo optima mid decals with the black outline still in place. As a finishing touch see if you could get the black turbo optima wheels and redo the tyre writing in gold. Still nice to see something other than box art on that awesome chassis.
Hi Glenn I love the colours. Im saving up for one of these and have already decided on the colour scheme when I get round to building it. Mine will be white and gold but will stick with the white wheels. I think maybe a splash of a another colour or to could bring it alive. E.g the numbers in black to match the tyres. It’s so frustrating at times when we have an idea in our heads and trying to translate the into reality. Anyway we’ll done on the build it’s a stunning car, best wishes and take care
I think if you had silver and black stripes to go with the gold it would look awesome. Looks good the way it is but I think i would have used either the satin silver or white wheels too.
If you use the white wheels, maybe keep the gold wheel nuts. This is a master show piece, mate. To show off the chassis with the body on, put a mirror under the car.
G'day Glenn great job on the Turbo Optima but maybe a perl white but I would of gone black or gun metal for the shell. Looks bloody awesome any way mate👍👍
16:35.... I was thinking before that there was a chocolate block wrapper style to it.... But then it hit me... You created a cross between a crocodile and an alligator...
I think the white shell against the back chassis and gold is messing you up a bit. Don't think you would have had the same doubts if you'd gone black body.
I just did a custom graphic skateboard build and it didn't go as planned either . I know the feeling when the build ends up different than expected. But put on black wheels and it's going to look really good . Put the gold wheels back in your stock for future builds . The gold wheels are awesome just not a perfect fit . Thanks for your videos!
Maybe swap the decals for black ones and add some gold and maybe red highlights. I think the gold wheels look really good, they just clash bad with the decals.
I'm with you, it's not quite working. For me, the three shades of gold are over emphasised by the use of neutral white, especially the wheels. I think a metallic undercoat with white, with less gold decals, or a metallic black, or box art ;-) would work. Defo some opportunity to experiment further!
I kinda like it if you ask. But I understand that if you had an image in your head and then the result is not like that image or close... you don't like it. But, in mistake lies opportunity sometimes. Maybe you can build another special unit using the bodyshell as base for the rest. And for the chassis, a new bodyshell with a color scheme that fits you better. I know it may be too much but... 2 super special units with the magic Glenn touch... Sounds great don't you think🤔🤔
It looks great mate, how ever I would have gone with black or red instead of white, also maybe take off a couple of decals maybe? also perhaps some dark tint for the windows could help a bit, thats what I would mate, any way cheers and keep the good stuff coming!! 👍
@@RCLegends2022 i realized I unsubbed to the Tamiya one. Videos were getting too long and not to the point. May I suggest filming the build vids and then FFwding the view of it and slowing down to certain sections? I like the RC legends better since it's not all Tamiya.
I think that she's a stunner. Try looking at her with a black background. The white background and table doesn't help, just too much white. Try it and you will see that the car pops even more.
Well Glenn as I thought it's not as bad as u think,I'm not a big fan of the turbo optima body but this colour scheme changes my mind, usually black and gold go together but your choice with white and gold is fantastic and I would never of thought of that, but yes I do agree it's the wheels that are a little different shade, but I don't think it makes a massive difference to the overall look, I was thinking either white or black wheels, or find someone to strip off the anodising and have them re-dyed closer to your chassis colour, but like I say I think she looks lovely, nicest turbo optima I've seen 👌🇬🇧
Hi Glenn, definitely not a fail. I’d go with your original idea of using some black decals. Maybe some line tape around the windows and some of the body features.
Car looks great Glenn. I think white wheels would be better. Just grab some white wheels off another car and stick them on to get an idea of what it would look like and if the white works order some tyres for the white kit wheels and just keep the gold wheels with tyres for a future build. I think those Gold wheels would look awesome on another car with a black body.
Great video amd design Glenn. The gold of the stickers is not such different to the car's. For me only the rims have another colour, that's okay too, because the wheels are sticking out.. But this might be a camera thing. If I would rebuild this car, my coise wpuld be black instead of white, but that's personal taste.
I agree with other posts all gold stickers is a little too much. Use original option house and black numbers and a few regular stickers. ( It's is a buggy Bond Gold finger would own) ..
Yeah white wheels for sure. Only thing I think is wrong with those wheels is they are so much darker than all of the other gold on the car. They just don't fit it for me.. I think if they matched the other anodizing on the car it would be totally sweet. But like everything it's all personal preference!
Great idea but the 3 shades of gold did pull it down. But the white wheel idea sounds like it'll work. Maybe use white plastidip paint? That way, if it doesn't work, you can just peel it off! Great effort as always!
I see the (Days of thunder) transport up on the shelf. I had my Hi Lux the king cab version same truck different body. Love the turbo optima . My favorite of all you did a fantastic job on yours well done 👍🏼.
I really like it! But maybe swap out the text based decals to all black. I think you’re just missing some contrast in the body. So all the comparison is between to the 2 shades of gold which isn’t sitting right with you. Beautiful job though, love the sticker combos.
Hi Glenn, great vid as always. Why don't you try the black Egress wheels up against it. I think the current gold wheels overpower it a bit. Black wheels might just help to draw your eye to the body instead. Keep up the good work... Phil. 👍
Dude I actually dig it! Have you looked at it with a driver figure in there? Also, and I know some optima lovers will hate this idea, how about a fat clear wing maybe?!? Thanks for sharing brother loving the new studio - you seem so much more comfortable in there!!
Looks fine to me👍 but I know exactly what you mean I've done paint schemes that other people have thought are brilliant but I just couldn't get on with! But that does look very cool do try the white wheels and maybe more stock sponsor decals helps break up the white and gold?😁
That body might have looked better with decals on but with no paint ! Actually, that would have been possible to check, if the decals would have been applied 1st. I have a never run Schumacher Cougar SV2 Buggy as a Shelfie with clear body and just a few tiny original decals because the chassis looks so awesome. I put a nice vintage motor in it (GM Dr. Speed) with which I had A LOT of fun some 20 years ago...I guess that shell will stay that way.
That looks awesome I can't believe you're pondering about how it looks 😂👌🏻
Haha hopefully you’ll see it in the follow up video, way better now with a few changes 😅👊🏻
I’d definitely give the white wheels a go. Chassis is awesome.
Thanks Steve 😊👊🏻
your room is fantastic, YOU DID A GREAT JOB ! VERY COOL
Thank you 🤩🤩🤩

I was sold on the clear body shell. The differences in the gold colors didn’t even bother me, but the white body for some reason makes it stick out.
Hey thanks for watching and leaving a comment 😊👊🏻
Really looks good. Reminds me of a special edition kit. And it is actually. Yours. Awesome!
Thanks Kash 😊😊😊
She's beautiful!! I think black wheels would make the gold POP!!

Don't over think it. The Kyosho looks great Glenn!
Cheers Adam 🤩👊🏻
Looks nice but I think if the body was painted black the gold stripe will be more contrast. Aniway, great build ! 👍🙂
Thanks Patrick 🤩👊🏻
Don't beat yourself up Glenn, I think it looks fantastic!

I agree with you about the white wheels mate 👍 that gold on the wheels looks a bit orange on screen.
Thanks for another great video my friend 👌

Looks stunning, Love the deeper gold of the wheels. Would look awesome in motion.
Thanks buddy 😅👊🏻
Yeah, In think the problem is not enough contrast between the colours. So black highlights (?) here and there might help. Too many light colours for me.

You set the bar very high Glenn, still looks stunning and well above anything I raced back in the 80s

Oh wow that’s fantastic my friend 🤩👊🏻
I liked it with the clear shell being able to see everything underneath. It came out brilliant though, you did a great job!
Thank you 😊
Absolutely gorgeous truly resembles what would be a very limited special edition from Kyosho straight from the 80’s
Hey thanks for the great comment 🤩👊🏻
White wheels for the win! ...With the gold wheel nuts.
I love it .I might be biased cause I'm building one now 😁
Haha excellent enjoy the build my friend 🤩👊🏻

Black wheels, black '210' race number on the sides, black rear window louvres and side vent stickers, and black small sponsor logos (like the ngk etc) on the nose. Maybe a 1mm black pinstripe around the windows as well. Great job on the studio ✨. Wouldn't mind owning that car :-)
Thank you 😊
I think some black on the shell would create some contrast. Looks great though. I like it!
Thanks Chad 🤩👊🏻
I like it! Defiantly more of a shelf Queen, show piece car but I think it’s smart
Thank you 😊
Wasn’t crazy about the shell till you put the writing decals on it that worked great. I think either white, chrome or even black wheels would work. All in all great job!
Thank you my friend 🤩👊🏻
I’d love if you did time lapse video of the decal application. I’m sure I would learn. PS LOVE IT!
Not a fail whatsoever. I like it. Very classy. Reminds me of the Victorian Age. You could display this on a piece of red velvet.
The idea is epic but I feel it just needs a darker contrast to make the gold decals pop. If it were mine I would put the. black louver decals on the rear. How about Try Gold and Black like the 1978 Lotus F1, and then a small Canadian flag to make it pop?
Haha cool idea 😎👊🏻

I think if you had silver and black stripes to go with the gold it would look awesome. Looks good the way it is but I think i would have used either the satin silver or white wheels too.
I think it’s absolutely perfect. It would look nice if the white was black too, like JPS.
Thank you 😊
Looks nice! Black would have been nice too.
Thanks buddy 😊👊🏻
If you use the white wheels, maybe keep the gold wheel nuts. This is a master show piece, mate. To show off the chassis with the body on, put a mirror under the car.
Thanks Bradley 🤩👊🏻
Kyosho's 240 Gold brushless Le Mans motor would go great with this kit setup. Looking good man!
G'day Glenn great job on the Turbo Optima but maybe a perl white but I would of gone black or gun metal for the shell. Looks bloody awesome any way mate👍👍
White & Gold Persian style Optima. Definitely unique.
Haha thanks Steve 🤩👊🏻

I like it.its different. Maybe the bright gold wheels r killing it.put it in the shelf and don't worry about it..
Thanks buddy 😅👊🏻
Dude I now need some of those gold stickers can you tell me where I can get them please
I love it.reminds me of an 89 turbo trans am
Haha thanks buddy 😅👊🏻
Put any tyres on the white wheels and see how it looks. Gold decals don't look too bad on screen, but obviously you can see the difference in shade.
Thanks buddy 😎👊🏻
I think the white wheels will make it look a bit better, keep the gold wheel nuts though 😎
Thanks buddy 😎👊🏻
I love the gold stickers but definitely white wheels I really want one of these..just like how you've done yours. Will you sell it to me
I think the white shell against the back chassis and gold is messing you up a bit. Don't think you would have had the same doubts if you'd gone black body.
Still nice but yes needs more contrast, should maybe use a few box stickers that are dark

Thanks buddy 😎👊🏻
Maybe using a black and gold scheme, like the old JPS Formula 1 car would make more impact ?
Looks nice and better than I could do! Need to loose the gold wheels tho and slip the standard white one on and boom.....perfect!
I just love the gold! One bad ass car!
Thank you 😊
I agree with other posts all gold stickers is a little too much. Use original option house and black numbers and a few regular stickers. ( It's is a buggy Bond Gold finger would own) ..
Haha love it 😊👊🏻
Yeah white wheels for sure. Only thing I think is wrong with those wheels is they are so much darker than all of the other gold on the car. They just don't fit it for me.. I think if they matched the other anodizing on the car it would be totally sweet. But like everything it's all personal preference!
Thanks for the feedback my friend 😊👊🏻
Great idea but the 3 shades of gold did pull it down. But the white wheel idea sounds like it'll work. Maybe use white plastidip paint? That way, if it doesn't work, you can just peel it off! Great effort as always!
Sweet Leave the wheels gold they look awesome
I think it looks brilliant mate.Wouldn't change a thing ;)
Wow really 😅👊🏻
I see the (Days of thunder) transport up on the shelf. I had my Hi Lux the king cab version same truck different body. Love the turbo optima . My favorite of all you did a fantastic job on yours well done 👍🏼.
I really like it! But maybe swap out the text based decals to all black. I think you’re just missing some contrast in the body. So all the comparison is between to the 2 shades of gold which isn’t sitting right with you. Beautiful job though, love the sticker combos.
Thanks buddy 🤩👊🏻
Hi Glenn, great vid as always. Why don't you try the black Egress wheels up against it. I think the current gold wheels overpower it a bit. Black wheels might just help to draw your eye to the body instead. Keep up the good work... Phil. 👍
Dude I actually dig it! Have you looked at it with a driver figure in there? Also, and I know some optima lovers will hate this idea, how about a fat clear wing maybe?!?
Thanks for sharing brother loving the new studio - you seem so much more comfortable in there!!
Thanks Wade yeah I’m definitely enjoying the new space my friend 😅👊🏻
Looks fine to me👍 but I know exactly what you mean I've done paint schemes that other people have thought are brilliant but I just couldn't get on with! But that does look very cool do try the white wheels and maybe more stock sponsor decals helps break up the white and gold?😁
Thanks Phil 😎👊🏻
That body might have looked better with decals on but with no paint ! Actually, that would have been possible to check, if the decals would have been applied 1st. I have a never run Schumacher Cougar SV2 Buggy as a Shelfie with clear body and just a few tiny original decals because the chassis looks so awesome. I put a nice vintage motor in it (GM Dr. Speed) with which I had A LOT of fun some 20 years ago...I guess that shell will stay that way.
That’s awesome 😎
I always thought that on one of the gold chassis anniversary cars leaving a clear body but still adding the decals might make an interesting display.
Think it looks great!
I did one in Tamiya gun metal with bright gun metal wheels. It made the gold chassis and shocks stand out nicely👌
Looks amazing but I do have to agree, the differences in the golds would annoy me as well. Definitely try the kit white wheels :)
Thanks buddy 😎👊🏻
