MY HIGH SCHOOL JAZZ CHOIR THAT I WAS APART OF SANG THIS EXACT ARRANGEMENT.. IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SOMEONE SUCH AS YOURSELF TO PULL IT OFF AND YOU DID IT SO BEAUTIFULLY. IM IN LOVE.
@thepetworks thanks for sharing my video! I'm glad you like it :) and yeah, I've actually done the lighting thing in future videos… unfortunately I didn't think about it before I did this one
Thanks, that was the first recording of this kind I've heard/seen. I presumed it would sound weird but instead it was really good. I just felt a little dizzy of watching so many identic faces.
Aw dude! This video brings me back to my senior year in high school when I stumbled across this. After a couple years of my own vocal study and development, it’s really astonishing that you were a high school and have such amazing sound in all registers. It’s gems like these that makes me even more excited to teach my own choral program for the students like you :)
Dude, that high note at 3:21-22...unreal! And what an awesome transition from 3:29 onwards to that incredible ending note choice! That's the stuff my musical dreams are made of, since I am a musician. I regret I don't have the time to go through all your videos (impressive), but when it comes to your repertoire what, in your opinion, begins to rival this piece?
This is simply beautiful. The first 30 seconds never grow old (not that the rest does). If I had never heard the group Glad, I would have passed out on this. Fortunately, they prepared me for this sort of elegant and stunning harmony. I've been listening to accapella for years, and primarily jazzy arrangements (Take 6, Glad, Hi-Los). But the fact you pulled this off - all parts - by yourself? What a gift, Dan! Just beautiful.
as you know, this is all completely flawless, but i have to say: your bass/baritone voice is absolutely stunning. STUNNINGGGGGG, it's what i listen for in every video :) i love itttt, subscribed :D and yes, you should try bohemian rhapsody :)
You just got the fastest subscription this world has ever known. You're absolutely incredible, but that, I'm sure, you are very well aware of. Looking forward to hearing more of your beautiful arrangements ^.^
Your singing is amazing. To be consistant like that over so many tracks and make it work, let alone make it sound so good is Really amazing. I somehow doubt (well some may know if they recorded voices or even multiple guitars) people realise how hard this really is. Making it sound awesome and in pitch, in time, every time.
I'm really glad you decided to take it down tempo rather than what was specified, because my group had performed at this speed and it was far more ghostly and effective.
All of the chords....the modulations....man, if your music teacher gives you anything less than a "frakin 'A'".....he or she should retire and turn the class over to you....You're incredible Dan! :)
Thank you soon much. My high school jazz choir is doing this song and our concert is this Thursday. And I was tricked up in the alto line on a few parts. This helped me soo much. :) your voice is amazing and I really appreciate this video.
I have composed 16-track music myself, and used to ponder of going HD recording. But you take 32 track to a whole new level. I am extremely impressed. Must have taking huge preparations, dedication, precision and consistency. Apart from the obvious talent and love for music. Looking forward to check out the rest of your work. A hello from The Netherlands.
Crazy cool - very well done, and nice work on Hide and Seek and Scarborough Fair as well. Your arrangements are very well written, and remind me of Manhattan Transfer or Nando Lauria's vocals. Keep up the good work - very original!
@goodchappy haha yeah.. I keep toying with the idea of trying to use my green screen and make it look like a real choir (on risers, ect) but first, I have no idea how I would go about doing that. and second.. I'm a really lazy person and the prospect of all that work sends me running to what I already know how to do :p
Excellent! That sounds as good as the best choir I have ever heard. Must have taken ages, would have been even better if you used your blue screen. I found myself scanning from left to right to see who was singing the solos, like some sort of eye test.
@ThoseOtherGuysReview I'm getting so many weird looks in chipotle cause I'm grinning like an idiot. I've had a terrible day and you just made me very happy. Thank you :D
@CarlyCarlyW well I had my last AP test yesterday, so to celebrate I'm working on a truly massive project… its actually kind of ridiculous and I think I might be crazy to even try.. but keep your eye out. I'm aiming to release it sometime in mid-july
Dan, I keep coming back to this song over and over again, now over years. I adore your arrangement of it. I've dreamed of doing something like this after hearing Take 6, like every other person who loves accapella jazz. But I find this arrangement hauntingly beautiful just as it is. I'd like to purchase a download of it, if you can tell me how. Then I'll have it with me, listening to it a zillion times over. Like I did Glad's accapella, to which this arrangement sounds most close. Just beautiful.
@Klutz20082008 thats cool! I was almost on the quidditch team, but I commute and I didn't want to drive up to school every sunday. hopefully I'll start dorming there and I can be on the team
@Nowhereman90 no, this is written for SSAATTB with Soprano and Tenor solo and it is not mine. If you look in the info for my videos at the bottom it says who arranged it :)
Incidentally, my high school's jazz choir did this same arrangement. I was not a part of it (I'm not a singer, I'm a percussionist - I played Bohemian Rhapsody with the advanced choir tonight on drumset), but excellent job on this. You have a *very* impressive vocal range. That said... the first soprano in jazz choir can hit some terrifyingly high notes. She nails them - but obviously, she has an advantage for hitting those in comparison to you, since she's female. Good job hitting those notes.
@literateandstylish3 thanks! and no, I wasn't in college when this was recorded, but I am now. I'm a music major as well, and I'm actually in class right now :P
Magical stuff dude! love the dynamics and your range is awesome! Dare ya to have a go at Pink Floyd - goodbye blue sky. They are only short parts but i reckon you could do an awesome job of them! Maybe i could play the guitar part and send it to you to cover?! ;-)
From your former Vocal Majority fan - keep up the fantastic work. While only an amateur vocal musician, I can find nothing in this performance to criticize!
I can't imagine the patience it takes to create something like this. I've done solo multi-track recordings, but never this many tracks. Amazing job!
Agreed.
Sounds like a Beach Boys rendition of that Beatles song!
I like it!

Have you really done 32 fackin' recordings ?
O_o'
Nice
Dan is obviously a genius. Such a grasp of music technology.
I will keep coming back to listen as long as my eardrums are connected directly to my tear ducts. Miss you Dan.

you just blew my mind completely with this, its like beach boys the accapellas meets the beatles! my old mans gonna love it when i show him =)
I think Lennon would have smiled his ass off at this one.
***** He probably would - I believe Paul McCartney wrote it!
Lennon? U dumbass! This was all McCartney!

WONDERFUL arrangement! Done with such grace and class.
as you know, this is all completely flawless, but i have to say: your bass/baritone voice is absolutely stunning. STUNNINGGGGGG, it's what i listen for in every video :) i love itttt, subscribed :D
and yes, you should try bohemian rhapsody :)
how does this only have 39,000 views?? you're absolutely incredible, and I love the arrangement!!
tenors represent! dude we are singing this in a small jazz choir, and this is like the perfect thing to use for practice. very well done :)
Seriously! I just came across you. Very impressive!
You just got the fastest subscription this world has ever known. You're absolutely incredible, but that, I'm sure, you are very well aware of. Looking forward to hearing more of your beautiful arrangements ^.^
This multi tracking stuff facinates the hell out of me! I must learn how to do this! Awesome! Keep up the great work!
BRAVO! Beautiful work, Dan! Just beautiful.
Thank you for recognizing the arranger, too. It's the professional and classy thing to do.
I have reached raving fan status! This is so cool!!! I don't have a single derogatory or critical word to say! It's PERFECT! You're amazing.
2 thumbs up and all 8 fingers for this. Perfect pitch, great timing, wonderful rendition and beautifully done!

You are freakishly good! Wow! I have taught chorus for 35 years, and I think you are amazing!
Thank you soon much. My high school jazz choir is doing this song and our concert is this Thursday. And I was tricked up in the alto line on a few parts. This helped me soo much. :) your voice is amazing and I really appreciate this video.
It was a while ago, but I think it was about a month... I don't really remember though.. Glad you like it!
Fantastic!!!

Your stuff is insane! Love it. Arrangements are stellar

This must have taken a lot of hard work. Congratulations! This is great. Never let self-proclaimed critics put down your efforts. :)
great job Dan!
i absolutely love this song, and your version of it!
A capella version of this song + being performed in A minor + you = PERFECTION!!!!!!
Great ambience that entraps the listeners. don't hate on this young man's talent
Excellent! That sounds as good as the best choir I have ever heard.

This is simply - stunning. Well done. I love it.
Awesome intonation. Loved it.
You have a *stunning* voice and it's well used in this. I love your work!

Beautiful! I'd love to have this arrangments to do with a bunch of bassoons!!!!
You have quite a range, good sir. I'm impressed. Keep it up, you're fantastic.
@spookmineer thank you very much. I get a lot of compliments but it's nice when people really appreciate how much work goes into it
You must have endless patience, I usually don't do more than 4 or 5 layers on my videos... you have to make a bazillion... wow, cheers for that (y)
This puts me in mind of Alan Parsons Project. Your singing voice has that same quality.
Couldn't give you an exact song to compare against though.
Dan, this was amazing. GREAT JOB!

@Harpy36 thanks for the vote of confidence! I've decided that I actually will write a piece. I just need to find a poem to use
@seattletype9 yup! if you look in the info box at the bottom it says that it's a Paris Rutherford arrangement
You're AWESOME. Keep, making videos.
@Jimmyh4455 I use logic pro for audio and final cut for video
As a music major, you inspire me :) Wow, you're not even in college yet?? :-D Kudos! Also kudos on the soprano parts you sing :)
i loved it! wonderful and amazing!
