I did something similar, but with only 3 players I had them pick 2 critters (2 CR 1/4s or Cr 1/2+CR 1/8). They had a blast saving Littleton from the ginormous undead the lonely Soth had lost control of, as well as recruiting allies from Slice of Heaven, the Slime Sewers, the Fey Mild, and Heck.
Stand out critters were Warden Jordan the Chorden with his battlefield control, Foxy the Kitsune with her varied magic attacks, and Steve the Entomodrake with his breath weapon and maneuverability.
This book rocks, and I cant reccomend running a oneshot from it enough!

I don't have much exposure to One-Shots, shame is, I bet they aren;t as all well-crafted as yours seem to be. This stuff is fascinating, but please make whatever content you desire to!

This needs to be the basis for your characters in a Tall Tales episode. All of you play stibbles characters and pokemon batt...I mean stibble monster fighting.

Can you use Stibbles for a more traditional pokemon rpg? I haven't given Runesmith my money yet so I don't have the book in my hands yet to read it.

If by "traditional pokemon RPG" you mean a campaign, then probably not. The book consists mostly of NPC statblocks; and there really arent that many mechanics for growth unless you are real creative. I just found a way to make NPCs a little more playable. If you are looking for a TTRPG that runs like a person playing a pokemon game, I would suggest PKMN Legacy by KayVox. th-cam.com/users/Theatrefreak7
