    My uncle bought a 2001 ws6 my senior year of high school. He got a DWI in it, lost his license and I got to drive him around and man did he let me drive it like he did, pedal to the metal. I'll never forget my time driving that majestic machine while blasting Pantera/Metallica/Megadeth. Thats another thing about those cars, they had a pretty decent factory sound system. Man this brings back all the memories of whipping donuts and getting side ways.

      Monsoon 8 speaker, IIRC. Yeah, light on bass (all cars were back then), but decent stock head unit w/ equalizer. Throw an amp and stealth box in w/ aftermarket head-unit, it'll bump well enough w/o being too heavy or cluttering the trunk area.

    Back before the 2009 financial collapse. I had a small car dealership that specialized in the 98-02 SS Camaro’s Trans Ams, Firehawk’s etc. great vehicles and it was fun while it lasted.

    • @williammc3183
      @williammc3183 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      Firehawks were the best looking, but I prefer the Formula 350 ( less plastic cladding ) and same engine .
      Lighter and quicker 👌 my '89 Formula was the last muscle car bodystyle before the big chassis changes, which the following chicken-nosed 1990 debacle has to be ugliest version ever.
      The 2002 ws6 is hands down the best handling , if not the quickest, and the Hawk version would scream . I got to ride in a brand new one that had a replacement engine done, by the local pontiac dealer , 1st oil change gone wrong ... I will never forget how easy it broke the tires loose at 50mph shifting into 3rd

    I saw a 99 Trans Am back in 2006 sitting at a used dealership. A helicopter mechanic was selling it at the time. Garage kept. Ended up buying it first. A lot of people were trying to get bank approvals. Luckily at the time I had cash to pay. It was 12K total. 40k miles. I ended up putting an Ls6 in it with a Vortech S/C. Had so many good times in it. 6 Speed was awesome.

    I had a 95 Z28 t-top in high school and I had so much fun in that car!! Every Friday after school/work washed it, shined it all up, took the t-tops off and went cruising with the windows down and music up. Only thing I did to it was Flowmaster exhaust, tinted windows, and add more bass to the Bose system. Miss that car but it gave me a lot of lifelong memories.

Got it cheap and had so much fun in it. For the time it was fast and just chewed up mustangs lol. One time.. once I got stupid and had it showing 145. Dunno if accurate but the gauge showed it at least. Many cars are faster but not being rich and having so little in a car that scared me was fun lol.

    I've been daily-driving my 2002 since I bought it in 2004. It's hands down my favorite car, but I wouldn't consider it the best ever made. As endearing as I find the interior to be personally, it's late 90's cheap GM plastic. Dash shattered years ago, door panels are cracked, you know, the usual, but damned if I don't love the car. I'd be buried in it if I could. The LS1 with a nice cam and ported 243 heads with a nice stall, she still keeps up with all the new stuff, so that's a good testament to the LS platform.

No one else could drive a manual so I got to run around in the car for a large portion of the day, picking it up a couple hours away, driving it to the shop, dropping it off at the auction after detail, etc. I will say it's difficult to argue the WS6 isn't one of the best cars ever made after you've driven one, especially when it was current. You couldn't wipe the smile off of Mike's face the whole time he was in the Trans Am! Thanks, Dennis, for saving this beauty by getting her out on the road and honoring this Marine! They really need to bring back our beloved Trans Ams so we can dominate the Camaro once again with our class and style! I have a 2002 TransAm Convertible in Maple Red Metallic,(lowest color code combination of any Firebird in 2002)…My buddy has a 2000 Pontiac TransAm WS6 that he bought new, in black identical to this one…We both entered an Orphan Car Show a couple years ago at Grundy County Fair Grounds in Morris, Illinois…We parked right next to each other….He won a trophy for manufacturer no longer made from 2000 on up, and I won 1st place trophy as well for model no longer manufactured from 2000 on up…It was epic !!! Parked together and we won both classes with 2 Ultimate TransAms!!😎👍

    I love these cars, always have. Bought a 2000 Black on Black Ws6 auto last year. It's fantastic. Looks exactly like this car except it has the better wheels (imo, before they changed them in mid 2001). Even in bone stock automatic form, these cars are fun, exciting to drive, and also really livable. I daily drive mine and take it on trips to the city all the time. Great cars. I just wish GM had given the Trans Am a classier interior. It was like $8,000 more than the Camaro. Leave the plastic for the Camaro, give the T/A more!

    The General Motors of Canada plant in Ste-Thérèse, Quebec produced the firebird trans ams until it's closure in early 2000's. Here's an interesting story, the gm engine plant in St Catherine's Ontario Canada produced the corvette engine during that period . A couple of engineers that worked there managed to get the vette engine installed into the trans am illegally at the plant Quebec. Some how upper brass found out about it afterwards and seized all the cars from there homes and destroyed all of them and all of them lost there jobs. That would of been the ultimate firebird to have of all time. I know this is true since I knew an engeer that worked there and told me the whole thing and how it went down.

      Lol great story..however, isn't that is where the Firehawk was produced, using independent suspension and higher performance parts normally found on the corvette ? So , some employees have been modifying their own cars using 'stock ' aftermarket parts, and they were busted for, what, espionage? Theft or something worse? Rumors that there were several homebuilt TA's cloning the firehawk surrounded that era, bcuz test cars don't always get crushed they get sold and revived...
      And the part about confiscation raises serious doubts ..

    • @markszczepaniak5888
      @markszczepaniak5888 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @williammc3183 it's not a story, it actually happened, I was told by an engineer that worked there that did not want to give to many details in fear of getting introuble. Car manufacturers don't want stuff to get out, it makes them look bad. I don't care if you don't believe, have a very nice day, bye.

    I have a 1994 Pontiac Firebird Formula I have owned since I was 16. I bought it non-running in 2017 as a Junior in High School. I can attest that these cars are underrated regarding the horsepower figures and that they are donut-cutting machines as I discovered myself when I was a teenager. Even now, whenever I am in it and come across an empty parking lot, I absolutely cannot help but cut a donut or two in it. It so effortlessly does donuts and is so easy to control. Even though my LT1 is bone stock, it definitely gets right with it when you put the hammer down. I could never part with the car.
