I love that Camila Mendez is transitioning onto more adult roles, and is getting steady work post Riverdale. It's also neat to see Saoirse Monica Jackson from Derry Girls pop up.

one thing i appreciate about this movie is how they sprinkled in current culture and slang without being overly “hallmark”-y or cringey about it, and it was realistic especially when William reacted to her on the soccer field.
yesss one thing i noticed after i finished is that i really didn’t cringe once while watching. like it was corny and unserious, but not cringe at all!!
It wasn't realistic, as Brits don't use Americanisms like "Gotten."
Also, it's a football pitch, not a soccer field.

I think what made this movie so enjoyable is that it felt like real people made it. So many movies and shows nowadays feel like they were created in a lab to maximize profits instead of making a story that is actually compelling, with a heart and soul. It wasn't just a buffet of worn-out tropes and cliches. It was funny, with fun characters and good dialogue, and a main couple with actual chemistry! And Cami Mendes was simply glowing. She owns the screen whenever she's on it, no competition.

I really enjoyed this movie, the characters and plot shows that you can have cliché tropes but still make characters sensible and make them make logical choices. Archie's character was refreshing to see. also seeing Anthony Head and yelping MERLIN! 😂😂😂

However only *Emily Head* has filmed in the same building as *Upgraded* (2024)'s main location, which is *Bradford City Hall,* the place where I'm stood in my profile picture, and where *Emmerdale* (1972-present) films multiple times a year.
Obviously Emily's scenes were mainly for court and prison scenes in *Emmerdale,* however she also filmed some scenes just 5 minutes walk away in *Little Germany* too.
