Joe and Bo | Learning to Pedal Summer 2022

- I filmed Bo over the summer getting out and about on his bike. He started on a small 10" wheel scoot bike when he was 1, then we got him a bigger 12" wheel scoot bike and then, recently, he moved onto his Hope Academy pedal bike at about age 3 and a half.
We have found keeping his old bikes has been great as he still loves riding his tiny scoot bike and gets loads of fun out of each one.
Part 1. This is an impromptu garden session after Nursery.
Part 2. Laggan Trail Centre is perfect for kids and after a tow up the hill, Bo likes the Orange trail. The skills area by the Cafe is also ideal for messing about on.
Part 3. I had a pedal bike saved for when I thought he was big enough and had hidden it in the shed. But, he stumbled across it one day and was chuffed that it was for him. So we headed to the park and got his first ride in. I then got some footage at the pumptrack once Bo had properly got the hang of it.
Part 4. Just some good fun out and about. Small plastic ramps, a bit of pedalling and skids on the grass.

We got a Woom 1 (12"), Woom 2 (14", first pedal bike), Early Rider 16", Supurb Bo 20" (first with gears and disc brakes - what a revelation!) and Naloo Hill Bill (24", hardtail with gears, disc brakes and suspension fork). Gonna show this to my little one (now 3 years old) for inspiration. Keep on shredding!

That is the absolute best hazzard vid yet! Side note; I'm just about to teach my boy pedals... and he'll be going to front and rear brakes for the first time - any OTB moments with the strength of the discs when they grab too much front?
Bo had a rear brake on his balance bike for a while so knew what brake was what before having 2 brakes. That was handy. He uses the rear only 99% the time. And then I asked him to use the front when going in a straight line some times to get used to it. So basically hasn’t had the chance to OTB yet. I was more concerned about front wheel wash out as he is so low already it would be hard to go over the top. 🤷♂️that’s all I got. Havnt witness a otb yet. Good luck 👍
