  • Yorkshire formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Because of its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.
Yorkshire or the County of York was so named as it is the shire (administrative area or county) of the city of York or York's Shire. "York" comes from the Viking name for the city, Jórvík. The word "Shire" is either from the Old Norse word Skyr or from Old English Scir meaning care or official charge. The "shire" suffix is locally pronounced /-ʃə/ "shuh", or occasionally /-ʃiə/, a homophone of "sheer
Within the borders of the historic county of Yorkshire are vast stretches of unspoiled countryside. This can be found in the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors and with the open aspect of some of the major cities. Yorkshire has also been nicknamed "God's Own County".
Early inhabitants of Yorkshire were Celts, who formed two separate tribes, the Brigantes and the Parisi. The Brigantes controlled territory which later became all of the North Riding of Yorkshire and the West Riding of Yorkshire. The tribe controlled most of Northern England and more territory than any other Celtic tribe in England. That they had the Yorkshire area as their heartland is evident in that Isurium Brigantum (now known as Aldborough) was the capital town of their civitas under Roman rule. Six of the nine Brigantian poleis described by Claudius Ptolemaeus in the Geographia fall within the historic county. The Parisi, who controlled the area that would become the East Riding of Yorkshire, might have been related to the Parisii of Lutetia Parisiorum, Gaul (known today as Paris, France).
The emblem of Yorkshire is the White Rose of the English royal House of York, and the most commonly used flag representative of Yorkshire is the White Rose on a blue background, which after nearly fifty years of use, was recognised by the Flag Institute on 29 July 2008.Yorkshire Day, held annually on 1 August, is a celebration of the general culture of Yorkshire, ranging from its history to its own dialect.

Nice video and ideal backing track.
Think someone has already covered 3 of the locations further down but could you list where the others are please? Specifically the open area with the little tower thing, the water falls and river shots etc.
I've just got into droning for fun and always looking for inspiration and cinematic capture techniques. Thank you.

Hi, as a local and fellow admirer of the area I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your drone footage of the Yorkshire Dales - particularly the shots around the abbeys and castles. I am currently finishing an audio album that combines the natural sounds of the Dales with original orchestral music that I have written and I'll be making a short video to promote the album. I would very much like to include some of your film if that is ok with you? I will of course mention your name in the credits if you are agreeable to this? In the meantime thanks again for sharing these amazing views of Yorkshire with us all - they are spectacular!

Great video! Would you consider uploading this to the AirVuz drone video sharing community? The reason I ask is that we have a curated collection of drone videos from Yorkshire and we’d love to be able to feature your video in the collection. Just let me know via reply if you have any questions or if you would like me to send you a link to the site.

Errmm, why does the video show us places that are more than 30 miles outside the Yorkshire Dales National Park ?
Tower Hill is in Huddersfield, Kirkstall Abbey is in Leeds, and Conisborough Castle is near Rotherham.

No they are in the open countryside 👍🏻👍🏻
