It's a matter of "don't do onto others what you don't want to be done to you". They play because they want to enjoy the game. if everyone is playing with god-mode, they could run around holding sticks and scream "bang bang" too... wouldn't be much difference.
In a way, it's saying it makes you happy seeing a sports-team play according to the rules... In the end, they spend their time doing it, so they don't want to waste it.

@@GuenterMies he never actually proclaimed himself as a member of the enemy team. just acted naturally, looking for A player. afaik, you are not allowed to verbally lie about your team affiliation or tamper with your arm band. but Silo didn't rip or concealed it in an inadmissible manner. for this reason there are usually bands on both arms :)
