@@RoyPage1970 well yes. It is one of my favorites. But I believe it is so something Hendrix would not have released it he had lived. He was super picky about that stuff.
Also check/source out the COMPLETE versions of the other "Universe" session tunes like Easy Blues (over 10 min) Jimi/Jimmy Jam, Young Hendrix, Young Hendrix 2 (all about 20 min long) and Drone Blues (0ver 8 min) These unedited jams are amazing. The Jimi/Jimmy jam features guitar great Jim McCarty formerly of The Detroit Wheels and Cactus, he joined Jimi for this session in the spring of 1969 months before forming Cactus.
Wow, I notice some material that would eventually become songs on Band of Gypsys! So cool. The whole vibe really His soloing follows the rhythm more instead of soaring over it completely. Great stuff. Thanks!
Rare version of message from nine to the universe. This is a rougher ruder take that is so in the pocket as a rocket, that it rocks harder than the cleaner in studio groove without Devon, his partner behind him. He's also expressive in the vocals. The drums are a abit off on the solo tho.Bass line remains the same solid repetition all the way through. But it just explains how jimi's so quick to carry on spinning all around thru up-n- over, down & all thru the bass bottom, carryin' evrybody in the band thats tryin to keep up on his own groove.
H.H He is the best getarest player that ever lived, Every musician gave him propers, I saw him at 9 years old and he shape my world. He is grooving with alieans in a different universe and blowing there minds. New message from outter space, send me a message from whatever planet you are on, Much Love H.H.
Viva Jimi Hendrix. Um abraço de São Paulo, Brasil.
Best of the jazz/ blues fusion lps anyway and none of this was released in his lifetime. This come out in 1980, almost bought this for a few bucks a long time ago, darn!
With all of this material and him planning a new album. Just to think. They thought he ODed on drugs or maybe even a suicide. Really too bad. From fame to flop. Stupid manager ruined it all. :(
I used to have cassettes of Jimi out takes ect .Amazing jams we may never see again.Dont know if the family of Jimi is hoarding it for profit or what but you hardly see any jimi on TH-cam. The family should just release the music for the world.
This is a jam off of Message of Love/Earth Blues, with Billy Cox and you can tell Buddy Miles from miles away. It originally had lead and backing vocals, but Alan Douglas (thankfully) removed them from the mix. Also, I'll give credit where it's due, this is one of Alan Douglas' better releases, where he was pretty much 'straight ahead' with the music. The names of the tracks are his, though. _"None of that stuff was ever intended to be released ... To me it was embarrassing. I'm sure that Jimi would have said, 'You're out of your fvcking mind!' and never let it happen. It was all about people trying to make a buck out off of Jimi Hendrix."_ ~ One of Detroit's finest, Jimmy McCarty (played on 'Jimi/Jimmy Jam')
This album shows that Hendrix would make the same Magic Road of Mahavishnu, Santana, Eleventh House, Zappa and other giants of jazz rock. Instrumental virtuosism with the energy of heavy rock.
Without question , when I stumbled upon the cassette in the early 80s I was amazed . Fast forward, many yrs II picked up the C D , which is Message from 9 to the universe . It's my favorite C D ever. Mount Rushmore worthy . Along with , Dark side. Strawberry fields , and ? ........ I change the 4th choice frequently . I met Billy Cox at a backstage show in CT yrs ago and mentioned it was my favorite Jimi stuff . He said " We had a lot of fun making it " . Shook his hand , that's as close as I'll ever get to the main man .This version is not on my 9 to the universe cassette purchased early 80s . If memory serves . I haven't heard it in a long long time . So I could be wrong, but I don't think so .
Mimi didn’t always play gold. I picked up a record once of him and his ‘ Gypsies ‘ conga drum player at that guy’s house I think recorded right before they were at Woodstock and it was so much nothing but noise I took it out and set it on fire because I was embarrassed my friends might hear this horrible piece of crap I bought.

I like that!!!
Great statement he truly was the greatest on guitar just by listening to his staccato playing on this tune, another level, another universe 👍🏻❤️

Jimi Hendrix (voc/g), Billy Cox (b), Buddy Miles (d) and Devon Wilson (voc) circa 1969-70.
That’s what you get from Billy cox n buddy miles.
Fkn amazing forever
Jimi Hendrix. His outtakes are better than some people's whole careers.
Amen to that ,Brahh!!!
9 to the universe is no outtake

eso solo se consigue cuando eres un genio...pero el arte no es competencia es una expresión del ser...no se trata de ver que perro ladra mas fuerte...

I listen to a lot of his songs, but this is the purest form of him, it's mind-blowing.

Me da la impresión de que la familia de Jimi está muy necesitada

Hendrix was a mile down the road from any of those u mention
.....Many miles brother!!! Its another unknown for us World from Universe
Bought this album in 1981, I just found out it's rare and has been deleted from his official catalog
I've still got my copy on 8- track. And one with "Dorothy " too....
I have this on vinyl. I don't know if they ever put it out as a C.D.
yes it is , i have it.
Enjoy the C.D. because the music is very good.
UNIVERSAL***WORD!!!
I notice that this is a longer version that is on the vinyl. Never realized that they sliced it up. Figures...
Alan Douglas reworked it.
Until we hear it.
