    Practicing in India since ages..
"Tongue scraping, or Jihwa Prakshalana, has long been an important part of the recommended Ayurvedic daily routine. Have you ever noticed a film or coating (which can range in color from clear to white, yellow, or green) on your tongue in the morning? If so, your body may have a build-up of ama, or digestive impurities (the result of incomplete or inefficient digestion), that can compromise the digestive and immune systems. This simple, yet important, method of cleaning the tongue removes ama, the toxic coating or film, before it gets reabsorbed by the body".
    Use a copper tongue scraper.

Be gentle when scraping because if you cause your tongue to bleed, bacteria could enter your bloodstream.

Thank you, for the very informative video on tongue scraping. Based on these facts tongue scraping is an integral part of dental hygiene, since it can prevent gingivitis and periodontitis as well. Good to know!

I had horrible halitosis until I was in my early 30s and figured out that tongue scraping pretty much fixed it.

Nitric oxide is an important factor, in case of high blood pressure.
Btw, beet root also makes N oxide in our veins.

Is it not better to look at the cause of why there is white coating on the tongue? I live a WFPB diet and have clean breath first thing in the morning. I regularly do yogic cleansing processes and practice yoga daily. We are told scraping tongue destroys taste receptors

    • @skaterkraines2691

Maybe best to just brush tongue. Been doing that already for decades. Was thinking about the scraper but now you have pointed out one possible negative. Maybe scrape only once a week. Likely no harm from that

    • @jessicalowther56

I agree to look at the cause. Can I ask who's saying it destroys tongue receptors please? Seems to be a popular ayurvedic practice.
