I love this song. This was recorded by the HI-LO's (yes, I'm dating myself) and was arranged by Gene Puerling who did most of the arrangements for all the Hi-LO's albums in the 50's and 60's. I grew up listing to that wonderful sound. Puerling was also a founder and member of another great A Capella group called the singers unlimited. Searching for both groups will lead you to some wonderful sounds.
Point of Departure is the ongoing Vocal Jazz group of the Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts. Every singer is either a graduate of, or a student at the Berklee College of Music. My Romance, as arranged by Gene Puerling is their theme song. It is my understanding that each singer was recorded in a dorm room or apartment, Then it was laid down by a very talented engineer. I frequently listen to this piece just before I shut off the computer and head for bed. I discovered this group and this cut while I was surveying TH-cam for music arranged or written by Gene Puerling. I first became aware of this piece as sung by The Singers Unlimited on their Acappela album. Don't tell them, but I like this one better.!
My eyes and ears perked up when I saw that Gene Puerling was involved in this piece. I’m familiar with his name from the Singers Unlimited acapella jazz group from when I lived in Chicago. His harmonies and treatment of this song were immediately recognizable by me from his old group. Great stuff. I own a Singers Unlimited Christmas Album, which is my favorite Christmas album. You would appreciate his treatment on many of the traditional songs on that album. Thanks for bringing him back to me.
Great showcase for the human voice as the most fundamental instrument. When it comes right down to it, it's hard to beat vocal harmony.
WOW! .................................... Wow!
WELL SAID ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️

Zahhh... smooth harmonies... Brings back such nice memories. Good stuff. :)
