@@WHIKKEDDDD My girlfriend's game has never crashed and performance is fine, albeit frame drops in crowded areas or cities, I guess some people just get the short stick

Yeah... While I don't have either of the 2 newest Pokémon video game titles - _Pokémon Scarlet_ and _Pokémon Violet_ - I've seen about 45 minutes - *_THE_* first 45 minutes - of video game gameplay of Pokémon Scarlet on TH-cam from a TH-camr named 'PizzaMastr'; and I haven't really seen any graphical, object pop-ins/pop-outs or frame rate issues so far there. Therefore, issues probably occur much later on in the video game; but it might depend on the user. 🤷♂
One of the funniest bugs I had was when random pokeballs just started appearing in the overworld or cutscenes. So there'd be an intense cutscene at the end of the game, and all of the sudden there are dozens of pokeballs clipped into the floor.
There is a lot of dialog and it can be annoying, but the story that this game tells is the best we’ve had on a while. The ending is crazy and it wraps up really nice. Nemona is a really good rival and I was so hyped when you fight her towards the end.
@@CharmedReally7 Your money still going to the people who are making the decisions. If you really want to play the game the best way to do it is to buy it off someone locally after the games have been out a couple weeks. That way the money goes to them instead of the developer/publishers so you get to play the game and not make yourself a part of the problem.
You guys need to figure out what you're doing with your friends that contribute to the conversations. Either not let them speak unless spoken to (ie Jamie on JRE), or have everyone on the camera at once or regular cuts to them when they speak. It feels so awkward and uncomfortable when you're telling them off for saying stuff, whispering, etc, and then tell them they aren't the "ones on the banner", but still encouraging them to add their input. Comes across very rude tbh.
I think if they're just whispering in the background then it just becomes distracting and Wood/Bob are right to tell them off. But I do enjoy hearing their inputs and the nerdy debates they'll sometimes get into. I think they're also all friends and care about each other's views so it's hard for them to balance the professional side with their interests. And I think they also have a humorous dynamic where it's okay for them to be 'mean' because they're friends.
I’m in 2 minds about the game honestly. On one hand, I really like the game and am having a great time with it. On the other, it's hard not to be frustrated by the lack of time and care taken to ensure it ran smoothly for everyone on release (but also trying to keep in mind that it has only been a week since it came out). I haven't really experienced anything as bad as what has been described but I agree that it just straight up looks bad, in some areas more than others. That being said, I’m still genuinely enjoying the game and think it's probably one of the best we've gotten in a while. I like the story and the fact that I can jump between the 3 storylines whenever I want and at my own pace, I like the setting and the designs of the NPCs too. It’s a really fun game, just tainted by those performance issues. I heard some people are requesting refunds for their copies of the game which I think is understandable if you seriously aren't happy with it. I’m someone that enjoyed cyberpunk 2077 at release, bugs and all, so I guess I have a higher tolerance for this sorta stuff.
I was one of the people who asked for a refund. I really hate that I couldn't enjoy it I really tried to force myself, but aside from the glitches, I had other expectations of the game that didn't deliver. 🥲
TLDR; Graphics don’t matter, game runs fine for me. Loving the games, probs my favs in the franchise. Huge progress. (Context if you want the rest: I’m a PC player who is used to 144 Hz. 30 looks choppy, so I don’t notice the frame dips, if they’re happening. I play ENTIRELY in handheld. This effects my opinion of the graphics and it effects how many glitches I get. My current favourite Pokémon games are B2&W2, but these are a hard contender. I am an esports player, so I don’t care about the look at all. It’s about the fun for me. Thanks for reading the context)
@@sullieskye its clearly a meme from somewhere because people in wow were saying it like a month ago. Always took me back like....ok? I'm a king now. cool. I dunno...its dork speak that caught on.
I asked my 15 year old coworker what her favorite pokemon is, the other day, and for the first time in my life, I heard someone younger than me mutter the phrase, "what's a pokemon" and I knew, times have indeed changed.
The issues in Pokemon SV absolutely IS a hardware problem. Austin John Plays did a test with an overclocked Switch. Apparently, Nintendo really underclocks the SOC. The Tegra in the Switch is underclocked to 57% of it's normal clock speed. That doesn't include possibly overclocking beyond its rating. Using an exploitable Switch, he was able to use the standard clocks of the Tegra, and that, on its own, drastically increased performance. Could GameFreak have done more optimizations? Probably. Is the Switch hardware a problem? Absolutely. There is no reason for the SOC to be underclocked. There's no reason why Nintendo can't push a firmware update to allow certain games to use higher clock speeds. But they won't, so this issue will only get worse until we get the next console.
Sword/Shield was the absolute last straw for me, and to see scarlet/violet function WORSE just makes me believe that gamefreak just doesn't have it anymore.
18:29 to clarify. You can join someone regardless of which version you have and the host determines what Pokemon you can catch. If you have Scarlet and join someone who has violet hosting a lobby. You can catch the exclusives that are on violet and vice versa.
You can use ZL “to aim” while crouched or rotating the camera to focus on a Pokémon. If you’ve never encountered it it shows their name as “???”. Also, useful when identifying ditto it will show Ditto’s name while it’s disguised as another Pokémon, same with Zorua.
Performance and graphics aside, I feel like in terms of mechanics, Game Freak nailed it with Arceus, and these games aren't too far behind. But I do think its a shame that they didn't allow the player to go inside buildings or wander around the school. And on top of that, the lack of voice acting is really starting to show in these games. I just wish Game Freak didn't focus on improving things one at a time for each game and actually took the time to improve the games all around.
Agreed but also they're pushed to release new game every year. Next year it'll be DLC for this one and they probably started for the BW remakes too. It's frustrating how we can tell they're producing this one with so much love but so little time. The improvement to the game is amazing, but it's also shows just how good it would be if they had time to polish it all. I'd say open up game freak and make them bigger if they're this bad when they launch new gen.
@@HydroniteTB On the contrary, bad voice acting only pulls you further and further out of any possible immersion you could hope to gain - we don't get good voice acting in EN localizations of JP games, unfortunately. I'm guessing you haven't played New Pokemon Snap? Even BOTW had awful voice acting. It was slightly mitigated when the game was updated to allow switching to JP voices which had a really good cast, but we were lucky to get that option.
@@HydroniteTB As others have said, I don’t trust them to do it correctly and they would just use if as an excuse to slack on more key elements of the game. We already live in a world where you only get around 400 Pokémon, but, for some reason, they have the resources to make all these food mechanics.
My theory/excuse on why you can't fight a gym leader in duo is as simple as your goal is to go through the Champion's road and prove your worth. It doesn't prove you worth to double team a gym leader. But it would've been amazing to actually be able to see the battle between your friend and the gym leader has if you were a spectator on the sideline. Anyways, love that game and once you get past the graphical issues, it gets amazing.
Know the feel, I have almost never experienced a single glitch in Fallout 3, Oblivion or Skyrim. Only like a handful maybe and only minor things like the spinning spider etc.
I literally played like 5 hours and got absolutely bombarded with bugs, terrible performance, terrible pop ins, it completely took me out of the game i couldnt keep going
Both sides have good arguements, but I lean towards Bob on this one. I've been saying for years "yes, your doing well. Your making a lot of money. But you can make even more, if you give the fans what they want; like quality control". I've seen plenty of big franchises waste even bigger opportunities to be even bigger than they could have dreamed of. But they wont, and they never will. Companies love to play it safe when they have a working formula. They dont want to go outside their comfort zone or alter the formula in any way.
Yes, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has a lot of bugs. It also has a lot of other Pokémon types too. Water, fire, electric. You just gotta look around more 😂
The thing is people keep saying they're made for kids but that's not *entirely* true; it bothers me when I hear that x3 There are mechanics and competitive play that kids don't usually care about, and adults have been enjoying Pokémon games for years now.
I still wish they would have added voice acting instead of having Ed Sheeran music. Feels like they had all the stuff in place for the cutscenes to be voiced but then they just dropped the ball entirely. Even the opening sequence feels like it should have had the anime narrator doing the intro. That would have hit the nostalgia super hard to hear that voice starting out the game and then leading into a few voiced scenes. They don't even have to do the entire game. They just need to do the major plot points and the rest could be just dialog boxes if it was that big of a deal but even just a few minor scenes would make this so much better. After beating the store for Violet and then starting on Scarlet it is baffling how silent the cutscenes are...
52:42 I will always defend random encounters. I find it *A LOT* more fun to have a battle start and not know what it'll be until it begins. Like a nice little surprise and "what it'll be this time" excitement, or fun curiosity. It's fine to have them also appear in the overworld, but I thing a mix of both is the best option. Maybe if they made an option to turn off the random encounters for those who don't want them.
I bought this for my kid. I heard it was bad but knew they would love it no matter what. And whilst I agree the visuals are not good. I am really enjoying it
I feel like I might have gotten lucky here. Admittedly I am not very far through the game yet (I have defeated one gym and one titan) but so far the only bugs I have found so far are the very rare camera dip into the ground that is easily fixed and the occasional teleporting into an awkward position on a cliff when entering a battle scene.
3:11 “A little bit of wiggle room.” Let me tell you something not even I could believe until I tried it. After the catching tutorial and before the second Nemona fight (the one before the central city), you can get to around 80-90% of the map. How? On the western hill, there is a gap that they never intended you to jump. Here’s the trick: When you enter battle, you warp into the traditional battle positions. This warping can allow you to jump the gap. This works for land gaps, crossing rivers, and, yes, it can even be used to warp to the top of the highest snow mountain in the game, all on foot. With enough Poké Dolls, you can make a full circle around the world and set up most of the fast travel points prior to entering the central city. The only place I couldn’t access on foot was the South East section. You likely have to be able to either rock climb or beat the team star base there to gain access. It was my second play through to complete the dex, so I felt like messing around. In all, it takes about four hours on foot and requires careful reading of the map and avoiding high level Pokémon to preserve your Poké Dolls. It was the closest I’ve come to replicating the exploration found in PLA.
I don't know that guy next to skootish, but when he brought up voice acting I really expected him to say "you know what would fix that problem? Take out that ed Sheeran song"
I think the biggest question is. Do we want something more than the SWITCH can offer, no Game Freak. The base game is amazing. They gave us everything we asked for. I have been having tons of fun with it, I think it’s amazing and I enjoyed a more traditional Pokémon game with more to offer than any other installment. I see a lot of people comparing it to BOTW, but it’s not even comparable. There are hundreds of different monsters, not like 8 different monsters. They are constantly being rendered and popping up randomly everywhere on the map. Enjoy it for what it is. Some people do not like the Pokémon gameplay loop and that’s fine. It is a slow turn based strategy game
Lost pokemon game I played was X and Y (been doing Pokemon GO long term). I haven't been seeing as many glitches as other people I guess. My pros and cons. Pros: 1. Like the gym leaders and elite four designs. 2. If you look at all the typing for Gym, Star, and Titian. There's 18... you get to do all types. 3. When battling I can move the cam a see other pokemon walking near me. I choose my next target and go after them quick. 4. *spoiler* Like the story. It;s a serious heart break later on if you read between the lines. Cons: 1. I don't get to spend time with the gym leaders. You had a 20mins cut sense for the school. I couldn't get something for the gym leaders? *spoiler* two elite members..... scroll down if you don't care about spoilers. 2. Glide for riding pokemon. When I got Glide I thought it could fly... nope. There's no up-draft so you're just falling. I could do so much more when I could double jump. It does the glide wings when I hit B-button twice. Gliding doesn't go as far as speed running. 3. Friend got the fancy hair and you can't wear hats. There's so little you can do with the outfit, why would you not make all hair have option of hats? Even if it covers the hair! The uniforms make sense... it's a school setting. But at the end of the day I'm not wearing the pink shoes because it don't go well with orange or blue/purple. 4. Characters being teacher's who are also gym leaders and have a four other jobs along side taking care of their sick grandma. How do these people find the time? *spoiler don't read-* I thought we had a rule in this world that a person couldn't be an elite without giving up their gym status? Coolest surprise twist of an ending! But felt wrong. Also the little girl. She just felt younger then 10 years old. So she's god tier compared to me? She shouldn't even be there if she's not 10 years old.
Not a pokemon fan but still a great podcast. Voice acting would encourage developers to keep dialogues quick, simple, and to the point. It could avoid a lot of the text based dialogue issues mentioned on this episode. Let's hope that future Pokemon games will feature more streamlined and substantial voice acting.
I get there point also it seems like to me theses guys don't care much for story in games or just Pokemon has this identity of story isn't important or up the higher standards it should be.
A lot of people have been saying that many of the glitches (like the noodle man glitch) only appear in multiplayer, so that may be a reason as to why Wood’s and Wulff’s experiences were so different.
I play in handheld and haven’t played multiplayer at all and turns out handheld and no friends gets rid of most issues. I hope they fix multiplayer because the fact that if I have a friend with the other game we can catch eachothers exclusives by world sharing is just an amazing concept.
@@nagolloop935 yeah I heard handheld also helped a lot with the performance. Pretty sure it runs at a much lower resolution on handheld so that would probably be why I’d imagine.
I don’t want to hurt his feelings in any way but please no more Snoot on the podcast. The other guy made some really good comments during the latter half of the episode. Definitely worth having on again here and there.
So I'm going to put on my conspiricy theory hat for a moment and say the reason why backwards compatibility doesnt exist for any consoles these days. It's because companies dont want people to know what quality was back then. People of today look at these games and go "wow this looks great" without the context of the past to compare to. People born in the last 10 to 15 years or so think that all the games us older crowd give flak for like Cyberpunk, still look and play amazing to them because to them this is their first generation to them. They dont know that this is the 8th or 9th generation of games. So they have nothing to play or compare to past generations and truly see how "far" gaming has come.
10:35 i know what you mean about the camera angle on battle animations. Wanna know how you fix it? Click the right thumb stick. It snaps the camera to the old, traditional battle postions
I don't think we should be saying there's a good game underneath all the issues... 1. It will encourage people to continue buying half assed games amd sending a message to gamefreak that being lazy is acceptable 2. From what ive heard, arceus made a lot of improvements to the franchise thar this game completely backtracks on. They seem afraid of genuine change and it's nothing more than baby steps. They know what fans want but just refuse (or don't know how) to do so
This one needed voice acting. HOWEVER I think the story in this game is the best Pokemon's ever written. Hands down. It runs absolutely horrifically, but the writing was great lol.
@@yeepsleep I'll gladly have Japanese voice acting for all versions. The Japanese take their voice acting seriously so I'm not concerned about the quality. For us westeners it would be no different than watching subbed anime which we have been doing for decades now.
@@luchotenks2310 I actually agree with this 100%. This was how I felt with BOTW, the EN voice cast felt amateurish and like a last minute addition, but when they allowed switching to JP with the much better cast it sounded great and less like an afterthought. I feel like we were lucky to get that option though...
@@luchotenks2310 what a weeb comment. 99% of people who don't watch anime would be super turned off by japanese only subtitles. Pokemon doesn't cater to that audience. They cater to the general public of dozens of enormous countries. They need and can afford voice acting in a multitude of languages.
Its just really hard as a long term fan, old gamers like us 30 and 40 somethings, to see a franchise that has so much potential and yet keep disapointing us. Pokemon games could be amazing if only they would finally care to do the best job they can. Sadly they care more about the $$$ made. But I know they would make even more money if they finally perfect their formula as it would unite every gamers since gen 1
totally agree, they should just hand development over to other teams going forward. i feel like what gamefreak SHOULD do, is develop a "colosseum mode" right into HOME. it actually justifies a subscription for the service instead of just being storage, plus it lets GF continue to have complete control over official tournaments and keeping the formula streamlined overall, while other games can take some chances with the knowledge that it needs to be compatible with home.
the coop works like you play your individual games together. so you spawn pokemon individually but you can see each other spawns and pokemon spawned by the other will despawn if they move far away. but the outbreaks is only for the host of the world.
It doesn't need to. Pokemon hamsters will buy all editions, custom switch, all merch and whatever else Nintendo or Pokemon specifically throws at them. That hole generation of 30ish year old ppl with their ultimate bs tolerance makes Nintendo lazy both with software and hardware
You guys really should give the story a chance. The champion path is you're typical go become champion blahness but the other two have real hitting points to them for a pokemon game.
As someone who mostly skipped out on Sword and Shield and Arceus I honestly have to say this is my favorite Pokémon game in years! I love the open world a lot especially after you get the miraidon upgrades which makes movement so enjoyable. But I’m not afraid to admit that this game has issues and that for an open world game of this scale, and with for the first time ever three different storylines they NEEDED to take an extra year of development for polish and optimization. Even if you are thinking about sales it makes absolutely no sense to release Scarlet and Violet the same year as Arceus. That’s going to do nothing but hurt the sales of your previous game.
Fans were moaning before that the series was flat, spoon-fed and too easy. This is the biggest change since the franchise started, yes there are some bugs but overall this game is actually challenging now, has a better post game and is genuinely fun to explore. I actually love the game and a giant step forward. Next game I’m sure will be more streamlined as they would learn for this plus I hope we finally do get voice acting in the game!
I think Gamefreak needs to hire more people and then split the team into idk, GF Red, GF Blue, etc....so that way one team can work on a pokemon game and the other team works on another one and they have at least 2 years to develope a pokemon game. One year is not enough in they plan on keeping expanding the games. They either put their sh*t together or go back to 2D
@@Etheremy true, but thats basically them cutting an already average sized team in half to make these games. They should expand to have at least over 100 devs on each team
As they said, they have a timeline. Everything has to coincide with each other. TCG, anime, game, other merchandise. So they still has to do it in 1 year.
They really needed more workers. Gamefreak currently only has about 300 employees in total because the current CEO wants to keep it a small company to keep their organization easy to handle, but their products also suffers from this and has to cut corners in quality. And besides of this, they split their developer team and develop two games at the same time, Legend Arceus and Gen9, so they had even fewer workers available for Scarlet and Violet. Another thing is that how many of them have professional and high level experience in developing games like this when before Switch they make games for DS and 3DS. But Switch is not a DS or 3DS for which you could make a cartoon-like design, but Switch is a hardcore console and players want at least Horizon Forbidden West quality graphics and textures. So Gamefreak should change, grow and evolve over time to be alive.
@@Etheremy Yep, they have about 300 employees in total and their development team was split in two. This is too little if you want to be a good game company and make high-quality games. For example, Guerrilla Games had 250 employees for their Forbidden West and now they have 360 employees to keep it going, while Gamefreak only had about 150 employees for their two version of Gen9.
What I wish is that you guys could give feedback to the Satisfy guys. The ONLY reason I don't use their grip and instead use the Skull and co grip is because I can't leave it on when docking and because it blocks access to the stand which I like using on my OLED switch. Otherwise I prefer how theirs feels - as in the material it's made out of.
The situation with Brilliant diamond and Shining pearl is that they actually made a great re make, but they remade the wrong game, people actually wanted and remember platinum and HGSS as generation 4.
Prob the only dude that thinks Legends of Arceus is overrated. It really wasn’t that great of a game. This game is better than that one. It just runs like straight trash.
Reminder, people's biggest problem with the lack of the national Dex is game freak lied about it. People where bumbed about having no national Dex but then pokemon co lied about why.
Hey guys, on the screen it said with code 'NONTENDO' you get 50% off and free shipping. I priced out the Diablo red slim bundle and it came up at 5% off and $32 dollar shipping, totaling $109.90. this is definitely not giving it away! and way too much for a grip. Am I missing something?
Why are people still praising and buying Pokemon games? I don't get it at all. Any other franchise releasing in this sorry state would incite a shitstorm. Wolf pissing on Cyberpunk (which I can understand) and then saying this Pokemon game is good, because you can skip the dialogue easier makes no sense to me, especially for an RPG. That's like buying a book and being content with only reading the blurb. How about making the story interesting and actually wanting to read dialogue? Since I got my Switch I wanted to get back into Pokemon, but none of the games so far have been appealing to me.
Diablo red is inspired by the car Lamborghini Diablo. Also about the megaman pokemon, it doesn't matter what version you caught it. It matters in what version you evolve it.
Edit: I was incorrect, I have fixed it now. Regardless if you caught the Charcadet (Megaman pre evolution) in Skoot’s Violet game, that doesn’t matter. What matters is what item it is holding when it evolves. There is a special item for each form; one you can only get in Scarlet and one you can only get in Violet. That’s how they did that Pokémon’s version exclusivity. Theoretically, you could have someone give a random Pokémon the Violet item, trade that random pokemon to you in Scarlet - and then you can give the item to your Charcadet and when it evolves, you’ll get the Violet version even tho you’re in Scarlet. Hope that helps!
Not necessarily for Charcadet. It matters which item it is given (1 exclusive to Scarlet and 1 for Violet). You would need to be traded the other version item to change similar to Flapple and Appletun
I think pokemon could try planning a release schedule where a movie and anime starts off a new generation, merchandise and TCG sets follow, and the new game actually caps off the new generation. I know that sounds crazy but people would build hype for the game and the merchandise could be advertised rather late in order to hype up the game. All of these releases need to be close together but I don't think the game needs to be the first thing out before any other media.
See the games actually don’t make that much money comparatively but they’ve always been what allows the rest of the franchise to sell, it would be so interesting to do the anime and merch first for a change.
"I think pokemon could try planning a release schedule where a movie and anime starts off a new generation, merchandise and TCG sets follow, and the new game actually caps off the new generation" You mean literally what they've been doing since Generation 2?
@@DiscordedHaru I could be wrong but to be clear I am saying they leave off all video games related to the new generation until the end, not that they release a spin off game or a remaster.
All i know is that game freak itself is split into 2 teams and they alternate every other release, so team a did swsh base, team b did the dlc, team a did arceus and team b did scarlet and violet. Suposedly team A ( the one that worked on Arceus) is the more experienced one, which might somewhat explain the more polished looking game. But yeah they do need someone else to help make the games
5:40 .. yes you have freedom to do every gym on a diffirent order.. but levels of pkmn of the gymleader are always the same.. :P I did lv 40 ICE before I beat the lv 30-35 Water gymleader.
The co-op would be way more fun if there were a competitive/co-operative element like Super Mario 3D World. Like whoever gets the final blow on a Pokemon gets all the spoils.
I don't mind how scarlet and violet look, but I'm also the type of person who loves how ps1 and n64 games look. I do wish it ran smoothly as that's what tends to ruin the immersion
Wood GameFreak made Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee 😭 GameFreak have two teams and A team and a B team. Their B team is comprised of mostly new talent and usually works on the filler games like 3rd editions, remakes, etc. The B team made Pokémon Let’s Go and Legends Arceus. While the A team is comprised of GameFreak’s veterans and are dedicated to the new Pokémon generation, Sword and Shield, Scarlet and Violet, etc. That’s how they’re able to pump them out so quickly, each team is given roughly 3 years to complete each game from their last.
I've heard it was the reverse. Team B with new talents would make the Pokemon games then Team A with the veterans would make their own game ie: Little Town Hero. GF want their own hit game so that they wouldn't completely rely on Pokemon which they don't own completely.
@@rovidelarosa They had a program back in the day where anyone in GameFreak would be allowed to work on their own personal project and if they came up with a good concept then they would allocate a smaller team of a few members to help them flesh it out into a whole game. It was an idea to help keep the creativity fresh in the studio and keep everyone interested, but it sounds like they’ve shut that program down now after all their games outside of Pokémon flopped.
Such good vibes on this podcast. Thanks for the episodes. The situation with the Pokemon is a bit ridiculous, but also funny with ppl collecting glitchy videos. The next one... right? By the time they get it right I'll be waay too old for it. But if it's good then there's no such thing!😉
I hope gamefreak will make a HD2D pokemon (Octopath Traveler style) just a little hint of nostalgia. And bring back the trumpets from Ruby and Sapphire. That would be Epic.
I’ve been wanting this as well. As soon as I saw octopath for the first time I was like “wow I need a Pokémon remake like this”. There’s something so endearing and new, yet so nostalgic about it
So, I am only a few minutes in to the podcast, but I have to say I don’t know why the community would expect them to drop the dialog that’s been in every single Pokémon game. Lol. I think the co-op is AWESOME for children. You can literally lead younger kids around where they’re supposed to go, especially in an open world game that might be overwhelming for kids. Yeah, the game glitches but being a long time pokemon simp - I don’t care, I still love it. 🤣
The flying taxi thing makes no sence since Sword and Sheild that it was just a fade to black. In the Sun and Moon games you would call Charizard to fly you places, and everytime you would get a cut scene of a Charizard with a seat on his back come fly down to get you. I don't understand why these games didn't have something as simple as that, just have a cut scene at the very least
What’s interesting is that is what gamefreak do, they have two groups that work on the games separately, that’s partly how they are able to release games so often. I think an issue is the amount of people working at gamefreak overall, I believe it’s about 170. If you look at Monolisoft they have about 250. Pokemon released earlier in the year how they work the time schedule and how they do Pokémon models, and both SV and Arceus had 3 years development. I think Arceus runs better as not just because of what Jordan said about having to get the whole world into the game, but the amount of Pokémon (400) compared to Arceus (242) and how the battles are FULL on battles. Battling in legends Arceus was very simple, and only had a handful of trainer battles anyway. They even got rid of moves like surf in legends. SV has a ton of moves, and a ton of trainers, as well as online and competitive play. Trying to fit that all in in just 3 years is pretty tough, and I actually think gamefreak are very capable of making a good game. And they DID do the beautiful thing that is let’s go! Another thing I think they may be hesitant to get help with it is because when ILCA did BDSP they found it very difficult to transfer Pokémon to and from Home due to different coding. And it’s VERY important to Gamefreak and Pokémon fans that you are able to transfer Pokémon to your favourite game. People also like to compare to Xenoblade, Monster hunter etc but these games had more time, more people and less monsters and battling mechanics to put in the game. I’m not excusing it, but people love to jump on ‘gamefreak is lazy’ and that couldn’t be further from the truth, as wood said these people are probably on overtime 7 days a week.
I must be fortunate because I've only had the game crash once, and only very minor issues other than that. There's definitely a lack of polish on the game, but it's hands down the most fun I've had playing pokemon since I was a kid playing yellow/silver.

First impressions on a glitchy multinational release will attract anyone's attention.
One of the funniest bugs I had was when random pokeballs just started appearing in the overworld or cutscenes. So there'd be an intense cutscene at the end of the game, and all of the sudden there are dozens of pokeballs clipped into the floor.
Bob just playing with the Snorlax plushie at the end of the episode is so wholesome
There is a lot of dialog and it can be annoying, but the story that this game tells is the best we’ve had on a while. The ending is crazy and it wraps up really nice. Nemona is a really good rival and I was so hyped when you fight her towards the end.
agreed, best story we've ever had
Honestly I don't really care how good it is. It doesn't make it ok for them to put a game out in such a obviously unfinished state.
@@ChrisS-nq1ke yeah but i don't think it's the developers who decided they want to do yearly releases
@@ChrisS-nq1ke i didnt buy the game, im getting arceus which i actually like
"If you want me to listen and pay attention give me voice acting" YES. THIS.
So true

Ooooo I've been trying to wait to see if they fix the bugs before deciding which one I want to get, but this makes it a lot easier!
You can use ZL “to aim” while crouched or rotating the camera to focus on a Pokémon. If you’ve never encountered it it shows their name as “???”. Also, useful when identifying ditto it will show Ditto’s name while it’s disguised as another Pokémon, same with Zorua.
iirc this is one of the tips (not the ditto bit, but the ZL to aim bit) when you heal your pokes at the stop
the ZL identifies a pokemon and shows if you already caught it or not
Yeah super helpful for finding a ditto
On top of locking the camera
PLEASE no voice acting, no need to ruin another aspect of Pokemon games
@@yeepsleep how would voice acting be a bad thing? it would just make the game way more immersive

Wood not realising Bob is joking about something will never not be funny to me
Both sides have good arguements, but I lean towards Bob on this one.

No one who works a regular job and spends 60-70 $ on a game would turbo through the dialog. That's definitely a well-off Gaming-TH-camr-Thing. 😂😂
2:33 "I actually don't hate it" well, I wasn't expecting to hear that today.
Happy thanksgiving
Lost pokemon game I played was X and Y (been doing Pokemon GO long term). I haven't been seeing as many glitches as other people I guess. My pros and cons.
Pros:
Cons:
*spoiler don't read-*
I thought we had a rule in this world that a person couldn't be an elite without giving up their gym status? Coolest surprise twist of an ending! But felt wrong. Also the little girl. She just felt younger then 10 years old. So she's god tier compared to me? She shouldn't even be there if she's not 10 years old.
Not a pokemon fan but still a great podcast.
Voice acting would encourage developers to keep dialogues quick, simple, and to the point. It could avoid a lot of the text based dialogue issues mentioned on this episode. Let's hope that future Pokemon games will feature more streamlined and substantial voice acting.
Please dont rush through the story and lines. the story in this game is amazing to say the least. Best story we've ever gotten
I get there point also it seems like to me theses guys don't care much for story in games or just Pokemon has this identity of story isn't important or up the higher standards it should be.
the cool thing about coop is you can actually catch version exclusive pokemons you let your friend spawn it then you encounter it
A lot of people have been saying that many of the glitches (like the noodle man glitch) only appear in multiplayer, so that may be a reason as to why Wood’s and Wulff’s experiences were so different.
I play in handheld and haven’t played multiplayer at all and turns out handheld and no friends gets rid of most issues. I hope they fix multiplayer because the fact that if I have a friend with the other game we can catch eachothers exclusives by world sharing is just an amazing concept.

1. It will encourage people to continue buying half assed games amd sending a message to gamefreak that being lazy is acceptable

They can't handle it off to other developers. The Pokemon Company is equal parts Creatures Inc, Nintendo and Gamefreak. They own it equally.
the coop works like you play your individual games together. so you spawn pokemon individually but you can see each other spawns and pokemon spawned by the other will despawn if they move far away. but the outbreaks is only for the host of the world.
only just finished the tutorial and skipped all story dialogue, why would you like the game at that point?
You would think the whole Cyberpunk 2077 fiasco taught a lesson to all devs. But I guess Game Freak wasn't paying attention even to that!
Nintendo gamers are a different breed. “Why do developers keep launching broken games?!”

@@yeepsleep I can't take their bullshit takes anymore, honestly. Latest episode pushed my buttons too much.
If I'm not mistaken they already had a separate team work on legends arceus
We wouldn’t see a loss in pokemon sales unless in 3 or 4 generations, these games don’t improve enough.
I dunno.. I’ve had enough of beyond average Pokémon games. I lovvvee Pokémon but I’m out until I hear a decent review. Been a while…

The thing about co-op is that Wood didn't want to co-op the co-op talk. 😀
@@GutInst1nct oh wait you’re right, my bad I’m thinking of one of the other version exclusives
Sick episode with different perspectives and interesting discussions.
agree, Pokemon s/v is more fun than Cyberpunk (glitches aside)
I think pokemon could try planning a release schedule where a movie and anime starts off a new generation, merchandise and TCG sets follow, and the new game actually caps off the new generation. I know that sounds crazy but people would build hype for the game and the merchandise could be advertised rather late in order to hype up the game. All of these releases need to be close together but I don't think the game needs to be the first thing out before any other media.
See the games actually don’t make that much money comparatively but they’ve always been what allows the rest of the franchise to sell, it would be so interesting to do the anime and merch first for a change.
Franchise is big enough that this would probs work. 📞 Nintendo marketing team ☎️
"I think pokemon could try planning a release schedule where a movie and anime starts off a new generation, merchandise and TCG sets follow, and the new game actually caps off the new generation"
You mean literally what they've been doing since Generation 2?
@@DiscordedHaru I could be wrong but to be clear I am saying they leave off all video games related to the new generation until the end, not that they release a spin off game or a remaster.
All i know is that game freak itself is split into 2 teams and they alternate every other release, so team a did swsh base, team b did the dlc, team a did arceus and team b did scarlet and violet. Suposedly team A ( the one that worked on Arceus) is the more experienced one, which might somewhat explain the more polished looking game. But yeah they do need someone else to help make the games
You have that backwards. The B Team built Arceus and Arceus and These games were built alongside each other.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is amazing!! Just need fix the online battling.
Happy Thanksgiving🦃
I fell off after Sun and Moon. Wish others stopped buying them when they no longer like the games.
By the way, wood, to evolve charcadet (“mega man”) you need to do a quest to get an item to evolve it.
The only voice in the whole game is in the end credits where it’s just a song lmao
"me either king" I LOVE
I need to see a recap podcast on your full thoughts if you guys actually play through the entire game
1:03:29 not to mention at that part it made the game slow down so much because they were all moving around
5:40 .. yes you have freedom to do every gym on a diffirent order.. but levels of pkmn of the gymleader are always the same..
Wood GameFreak made Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee 😭
GameFreak have two teams and A team and a B team.
There’s something so endearing and new, yet so nostalgic about it
Dude yes, that’s what I’ve been saying for a minute!!!
Bring back 2D! And the HD2D would be so bomb
It would be cool to have a Pokémon Black and White HD-2D remake.
@@icemaster54isaac86 or anything else lol
The only thing I wonder is how much of this can even be remedied with a patch.
This!
I'm sure most of the bugs and performance issues can be patched. The question is if they'll patch it.
Are the sweaters a one-of thing or are they going to get restocked often? I really want one but money is tight these days so I've been wondering.
Usually they are one of thing
I love the couch guys, no hate.
This long blond hair guy is so vain. "I want to talk first. You interrupted me. I'm gonna cry buááá".
I must be fortunate because I've only had the game crash once, and only very minor issues other than that. There's definitely a lack of polish on the game, but it's hands down the most fun I've had playing pokemon since I was a kid playing yellow/silver.
Most farmed pokemon for the sandwiches... Miltank, Torchic, and Tepig... brutal.
