Ignore this its just for the algo
I really enjoy playing the pokemon tcg nothing is better then a good pokemon card pack opening if the pokemon cards are worth money its even better. getting into a pokemon card battle is also fun. Of course playing the pokemon tcg is my forte! like how to build a pokemon deck and playing the pokemon tcg online is how I spend most of my evenings. Pokemon tcg tournament are also great and if you even need any help on how to play the pokemon tcg then let me know! Dont forget you can also open pokemon tcg pack online too! Ive never got to open packs with leonhart or randolph but hopefully will soon! Not pokemon vgc pokemon vgc online or pokemon tcg world championships. Building pokemon decks is very fun! watching other deck profiles and deck lists is very helpful
I’d say that the biggest shift had to be the introduction of the TAG TEAMS.
I will have convinced you by the end of this video 👀
They follow the same design philosophy. It’s just the same thing but ramped up.
Tag teams didn’t even change anything
Lol sure
@@TheWillrocks51what are you smoking?? Tag teams changed everything. GX were not worth playing anymore. Even when v and Vmax were released AFTER tag teams, were still WEAKER than tag teams. Tag teams destroyed the TCG for a long time.
This is the era I got into the game. I heard a lot about how good the game was from DPP era and started to follow the scene and learn the meta right as the rule change was happening. I still think about the prime decks of that format or even later decks like colbalion piles with electrode prime. Shoutout to the truest OG, jwitz the pokeprof who’s content was seriously a decade ahead of the game.
You want a mesprit? I suggest you drop it
@11:00 yup this video is the exact one that got me the info i needed. The goat
Aww wow we got started around the same time then! Massive shout out to the OG 🙏
@@BurtsPTCG i played yugioh and pramawat entered a yugioh event, got a feature match, and the rabbit hole led me to pooka’s podcast with him and crim. I thought hey let me try to do the reverse and at least learn pokemon
Funny since like a year+ ago, on twitter pram was complaining about the format, and I told him to get into one piece, with an actual friend of his +1ing my sentiment. He later would go on to outplace me in one piece events we both happened to enter.
Card games are weird
Same for me but slightly earlier my first deck was sabeleye donk.
As an old Man, I'd say that flipping coins for Energy removal was a huge change. Decks changed completely. Let's not even talk about Super Energy Removal
Energy removal and super energy removal jsut couldn't carry on 🤣😭
@BurtsPTCG why not, we lived in it, we were molded by it. We didn't see a coin being flipped until we were already men.
Also Poke Powers and Poke Bodies being kind of fused to have Abilities instead helped to make the game simpler. I think the developers' vision about kids having chance to win is represented by Charizard ex, it gets its own energies by itself. Not complaining, this is the TCG with the biggest variety of players, age wise.
That is a fantastic point that I was meant to have mentioned but forgot 😂😭
Quick suggestion, maybe go back to the older thumbnails that have a card you can see, with the newer videos I find myself thinking I already watched it or find it less interesting or unique and wanting to click less. The videos themselves are great just an idea.
Thanks for the feedback!
Biggest mistake in design if you ask me. RS and DP were when design was at its peak.
Both were top tier eras for sure 🙏🙏
Yes and no. From a player who was active in 2008 - I simply quit playing for 10 years due to these changes... but instead of me the game got 10 kids who probably wouldn't have been able to grasp the complexity of DP Era. You could argue it wasn't really a mistake, since it resulted in the game blooming at the end of the day, even if we both hated it.
I think the problem with this change is they used to would change the game evey time a core set came out now i feel like I'm still playing black and white all this time later
Sun and moon was a bit a refresher, until tag teams of course 😭
@BurtsPTCG I had hope during sun and moon maybe someday we'll have new designers with new ideas until then I'll play control as long as I can
@@BurtsPTCGthis current formats pretty fun tho, we have pretty good variety right now
I don't see how introducing more intentional, active power creep is supposed make the game an even playing field for new players vs returning players. That's what card rotations are for.
I've also heard it argued that Pokemon favors big basics over evolution because they think evolution is too complex for kids...
What I don't like most about modern Pokemon though, and honestly the reason I have largely stopped playing is because games are only 3-5 turns and most turns we're burning through a TON of resources and then taking a KO. There's so much more emphasis on 1HKOing 2 prize Pokemon to end the game in 3 attacks.
And that's not what I enjoy. I like games where we trade back and forth, where comebacks are actually possible. I thought with Iono that maybe the format would change - but it's way too easy to recover from an Iono right now. It's not like N back in the day where it could turn a game around. Rarely does Iono seem as impactful as N ever did - and I think that's just cause there are so many way to draw constantly. What in the format right now lets you really come back if your opponent gets an early lead? What successfully punishes overly aggressive play? Nothing.
The best way to play Pokemon cards anymore is GLC - no multi-prize cards allowed and singleton format BW on. It's just very hard to play that unless you know other people irl who also play it, since it's not supported officially in any capacity...
What makes the difference in GLC is that you have to plan out turns, manage resources, set up your board with a strategy. The game isn't already decided on turn 2 or 3.
Glc is fun for sure! 🙏
Indeed, it turned into big basics as attackers and evolved into support.
Yeah seems that way! 👀
I started playing at the tail end of 2009 but didn't really get competitive until black and white. I often think that I didn't know how good things were when I started and didn't have the chance to appreciate some of the best formats.
Aww yeah u just missed it 😭
man, i just love ur videos. U can feel the effort u put into every single one if them.
Thank you so much 😭 I pour my heart and soul into each upload. So glad it's noticeable ♥️
I only played Pokemon TCG for 1 year.
And that was 2010.
I played Sablelock (Sableye with LuxChomp) and did well, winning all tournaments locally.
Then this change came with Black and White, and I stopped playing till Pokemon TCG Pocket came out recently.
I love the Poke Powers and Poke Body as well as the SP Pokemon and their Lv.X style.
Hopefully I’ll get to play something similar in a later version of Pokemon TCG Pocket hahaha
Btw, great video, and it brings back so many memories, and the cards I used to love. Luxray Lv.X was so expensive back then, it took me a while to get that card.
Most expensive card of the format and my deck required two of it hahah damn.
Oh snap fun to hear from someone who went through it all! Glad ur playing pocket now! :)
I still have my Stormfront Gyarados deck. Good times.
My buddy and I would go back and forth with the tyranitar and his gyarados Stormfront deck. Indeed Good Times.
Sounds like fun times! Gyarados is probably my favourite deck from that era!
We really had to get creative when they anounced HGSS up in the 2012 rotation. We thought it would at least be Platinum up. Pachirisu 18/95 Call of Legends went from a $1.50 card to a $45.00 card overnight. Things got real SLOW until nEXt Destinies came out.
45?! No way!
I actually remember trying to play Pokemon when I was 6, and I only had the older Diamond and pearl cards, it was so annoying to play at school against kids with reshiram+zekrom with my SP and prime cards 😭
Bet that didn't go well 😭
I played competitively in that era and won a regional with SF Gengar, quit after noble victories because i couldn't recognize the game anymore.
Exactly this, you lived through it!
Okay this video has normal audio again! Still don't understand why your last one was so quiet, apparently only for me.
Strange times 🤣😭
Why did you have to play "Fight with Cynthia" concurrent to Garchomp on screen 😂 PTSD simulator
*bee-doo, bee-doo, bee-doo, bee-doo*
3/174
Fight
Pokemon
Bag
-Run-
Would be rude not to introduce Garchomp with Cynthia 👀😉
that fucking reshiram/zekrom made me quit the game as a casual kid player. had a cool collection of cards from years of collecting (nothing competitive) and all of it was made redundant from my friend who was a divorced doctors kid opening up a bunch of black and white and pulling those boring ass cards. that easily beat pokemon prime, level x, older ex. power creep was always in pokemon but that shift was just bullshit. from one set to another they suddenly slapped down basics with the stats of stage 2s...
now i understand how they got to that dumb decission and im even more outraged.
The stats were just mental 😭
Bench protection definitely existed in this era (Bench Shield came out in the same set as Spiritomb, AR), but it was nowhere near worth running.
That's my bad 😭🙏
“More on that later”
🤣👌
@19:36 is that a wild baby Ian Robb?
It is yeah!
Im a simpler man from a simpler time. I prefered the cards from gens 1 and 2. Basically, Base set through E-card. After that, i lost interest in the game.
You will like next week's video then!👀
Your accent is very strong and hard to understand.
Thanks for the feedback!
