    That interactive database website looks like a good learning tool. Thanks Jozarov!

    Just what I need to hear. Thanks. I keep playing the Kings Indian and keep getting slaughtered. Now I think it is probably a bad idea at my age. Nice shout out for Chess Tempo which is one of those internet gems run by a true enthusiast for both chess and coding, by the name of Richard.

    I never played e4 even when I started playing chess for the first time. I've always been a d4 player and sometimes c4. As black I used to play almost exclusively Petrov against e4 and now prefer some Sicilian variations. And against d4 the Nimzo-Indian or in the past the Semi-Slav lines. So pretty much the standart stuff :)

      Standard is the best, because the standard openings transpose into other systems

      1.d4 transposes to a lot of different queen pawn openings

    Hi Jozarov!
    As White I play Queen's Gambit, London System, Ruy Lopez, Italian Game and Four Knight Game.
    As Black against 1.e4 I play Petrov Defence, Sicilian Defence Kan Variation, French Defence and 1...e5 if my opponent plays 2.Nf3 then I play 2...Nc6
    As Black against 2.d4 I play King's Indian Defence, Slav Defence, Dutch Defence and Queen's Gambit Declined.
    Do you think I have chosen Good Openings?

    This is video is coming at an important time for me. After many years of absence from chess, I finally have the time and opportunity to play chess. I have joined a chess club, and every Saturday they have a tournament - 3 minute Blitz with no time increments on moves. So my question is - are there any openings (especially for black) that you would recommend for me learning, that might be better for this type of very rapid chess?

      I recommend you the hyper accelereted dragon sicilian, you have the whole concept explained on my channel,

      Any Sicilian, ands against d4 the Nimzo-Indian

    Perfect explanations as always. I‘m glad, that my repertoire matches your recommendations. What would you recommend for black to play against the English and the Bird Opening?

    • @Jozarovschesschannel
      @Jozarovschesschannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Against the Bird opening I think you can go into a closed sicilian setup. Against the English e5 in a reversed sicilian style. The important thing is to battle for the center from move 1

      Jozarov M chess channel thanks for the advice. I think I got your main message: always fight for the center!

    Very helpful. How many lines do you think you need to learn in an opening? I play the French as Susan Polgar recommended it and have learned lines from Ruy Lopez, Slav and others. Is it best to learn a few openings a bit and then apply your principles or learn lots of lines in fewer openings. I am a beginner really and kind of feel that everything kind of helps.

      You should ave two good openings against e4 and d4. As white you should simply decide e4 or d4, and simply play what you feel is correct.

    What do you think about the Old Benoni?

    • @Jozarovschesschannel

      I don't like it so much because of the potential positional trades of pieces

  • @MacAnthony209

    How come nobody plays 1.f4? I feel like there is a lot of unexplored territory here and I would like to research further into this opening since nobody really like d4 and e4 is basically standard. How come f4 isn't a viable option?

    • @Jozarovschesschannel

      Marcus Curtis f4 i play e5 straight forward

    • @MacAnthony209
      @MacAnthony209 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jozarov’s chess channel Yeah the From’s Gambit. Is that the only pitfall I need to overcome? If you didn’t play e5 then what would you play instead?

    • @Jozarovschesschannel
      @Jozarovschesschannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Marcus Curtis c5

    • @MacAnthony209
      @MacAnthony209 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jozarovschesschannel Nice. The Sicilian. To me that eliminates the From's which is the first issue. But c5 allows me to play the King's Gambit. Granted the Sicilian and the King's Gambit are very theoretical lines, but after opening with f4 i would be comfortable playing a line i study as white against a defense i study even more. Which i feel would be beneficial to me because we'd both be familiar with the lines presented; but i would be more familiar with the sequences that arise after subverting the theory. The most common response i've seen is 1. f4 d5. But this i helpful; you've helped me narrow the focus of my study and I appreciate it.
