During the time of those trips, the owner of the ATSF 6 was being somewhat of a pest, constantly asking for cab rides, so, somewhere in 1977, Doyle took out the whistle, with the crowd booing the owner for constantly bugging the team. That's why it wasn't kept, because the owner was being annoying.

The 6 chime at 1:00 sounds exactly like the one on Santa Fe 2926 when she was going back home after finishing her test run.
