The first person who spoke, bravo. The fact they were told to terminate by a specialist before going to CHOP really breaks my heart. Love that CHOP gave all the education possible and empowered them to make a decision! My hope is as a culture we can evolve away from the recommendation of terminating first with all the advances we’re making in healthcare.

indeed but somewhat understandable maybe those doctors never dealt with this before it is so rare doctors are only as good as their training and experiences.

Thank you for sharing this video! I am so happy for Amari, Javar and their family/friends. I'm not at all surprised everything went well. CHOP is an incredible hospital. 20 years ago, 18 specialists couldn't figure out what was wrong with my then 14 year old daughter. 30 minutes after our initial appointment at CHOP, she had a diagnosis, medication and help. She treated at CHOP on a regular basis for 2 years until her illness finally ended and is perfectly healthy now thanks to the wonderful doctors and nurses at CHOP. Congrats again Amari and Javar! Best wishes to you both

Maternal fetal medicine physicians are so amazing to work with. What they do for patients facing difficult conditions gives them a pathway to understand what is going to happen in best case and worst case scenario. Really heroes in my eyes.

These beautiful boys look at their mum like they’ve been here before, they’ve got wise eyes. I’m sure her brothers had something to do with sending these boys to their family. I had to laugh when after separation, the female surgeon said, "Just cradling him in your arms like this Matt- like you are holding a football." Still seeing them separated was bittersweet. I have never seen a creature look more lost than Amari and Javar waking up after surgery all alone in their skin after their little lifetime conjoined. It was sad and completely wonderful at the same time. I love watching these CHOPs modern miracle videos.

My heart goes out to this family ❤
I didn't have conjoined twins but i did have my first born 5½ weeks premature weighing 5 pounds 5 ounces. He was tiny and he was just one tiny human - i can't imagine how tiny the twins would've been with a COMBINED weight of 3 pounds?? Gosh... ❤
Given that my baby was premature, i too left the hospital without my baby and it's a very difficult thing to do! Every cell in your being is telling you that you just want your baby that just gave birth to, to take home WITH you but you just can't. He had a little tube in his nose to help with feeding because their sucking ability is under developed and takes time to learn but babies adapt and soon he was having all suck feeds and just before he was discharged from the special care baby unit, he had it removed for good. We were able to take him home after 3½ weeks but before that, i struggled e v e r y d a y with having to leave him behind 😔💔 ...i got some comfort in knowing he was where he needed to be and was in good hands but it's still so hard to leave your baby behind!! My second born was term but ended up being by emergency cesearean!! It's crazy how life goes.. My first baby, he is 13 years old now is doing well ❤
Edit- i wanted to mention aswell, that i also struggled with some postpartum depression whilst i was having to leave my baby behind everyday and even after he came home i was slowly getting better but there's no on/off switch, it's a whole process that takes time and understanding but in no way means there's anything 'wrong' with you- your body needs time to heal and time for all of the hormones to stabilise, hormones are very powerful, but we really are strong!! ❤

I am so excited that the conjoined twins were successfully separated. I am also happy that any advice given to them to terminate the pregnancy was ignored and they decided to give themselves time to make an informed decision before termination of the pregnancy. I am sure they were glad they waited because there was no attachment of vital organs and the babies were separated successful! Be happy as you raise your boys and hopefully their presence will alay your thoughts about your brothers and you can move forward happily.❤
