While I am familiar with this track area, it is from taking AMTRAK along it - not SEPTA. And I have been to Delaware Park (it's a racino that gets its share of customers from Maryland) - before Maryland got casinos of its own, I had been there several times - including two birthday trips. (Their carrot cake is decidedly NOT to be sneezed at; neither is their seafood.)

Its pretty pathetic when an express train STILL takes 23 minutes longer then Amtrak to do the same amount of track mileage. where did NS jump the track at last week?

Commuter rail is ROUTINELY slower; consider MARC's Penn Line from Baltimore north. Not only does AMTRAK operate the trains themselves under contract, like AMTRAK does on the NEC for Acela Regional Service, they use ACS-64 Chargers (from Siemens). Same trains, same track, and same operators; yet commuter rail is slower. Is the same true of Metro North and MBTA? I'm curious.

Well, I don't know if SEPTA is that short. They haven't made any job board postings on their website or with any career help companies.

Believe me; they're short... they're just too cheap to hire off the street; they prefer promoting existing employees.

Wow, I'm sitting here shaking my head.

Which makes no sense in my opinion. You save money by hiring off the street, since starting wage is lower. If you're promoting from within, it typically comes with a pay raise, unless they specifically mention you'd be taking a pay cut to the regular starting rate for an engineer.

Yeah, I don't know what they are trying to get here

The upside to promoting from within is that at least they know who they're getting already.

Is it a local, express, or limited service?
