  • Jackson is reissuing a boutique, USA made version of one of the most legendary 'shred' guitars ever created: The Soloist. But can the new Soloist do more than shred? We invited a very non-metal guitar player (Ariel Posen) and a very metal guitar player (Max Damske) to take the Soloist through its paces - and what we found may surprise you...

    Prime example of why you don't use steel wool on frets to polish them. The magnets on the singles are loaded with fibers and could short out the coils.

    • @manuelperaltasun8467

      I use it as a finisher but I ALWAYS put masking tape over the pickups and use a small vacuum cleaner over the whole thing before taking the masking tape off.

    • @ThatMusicGuyAu
      @ThatMusicGuyAu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@manuelperaltasun8467 still poses way too much of a risk when there are better options available including micromesh, synthetic steel wool (non metallic), fret rubbers and polishing compounds on deemed wheels.

    • @manuelperaltasun8467
      @manuelperaltasun8467 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThatMusicGuyAu yeah I've been trying to buy some but I'm from Argentina and that stuff doesn't make it here. Customs are a real pain. You basically have to make due with what little luthiery products you can find. I've started working with some great locally made fret polish paste and a rotary tool, but the final touches still have to be made by hand lol.

    I played one of those years ago it was black with the ghost flames not only beautiful it was the best playing guitar I've ever handled I have played countless guitars nothing came close couldn't afford it at the time used it was like 25 hundred bucks. It would definitely be worth it to me..it was all that and a bag of potato chips..the straight green there makes it mo betta. Great video 2thumbs up...

      These just came out in less than a year. So there is no way you played one years ago. Jackson has made soloists for decades but this is a redesign and have shifted production to the factory line vs the small shop they were building them in before. Or maybe you played one of the numerous offshore factory builds from places like Korea, China, India, etc.

    The soloist has always been a versatile, good playing guitar. I've used one for anything from classical to metal..... Used to have a 1991 with active pickups that was my go-to for about a decade. If it wasn't a 13 lb mahogany body, I'd still be playing it.

    2,600 $ Dollars? Damn just get an Ibanez. I have a Jackson king v and personally I think that it’s the best option if you want Jackson. If you want shred Strat style guitar then it’s Ibanez! For less money you can get an equivalent of this new Jackson soloist!!!

    • @19red80
      @19red80 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dude seriously. For half the money you can get a MIM Dinky or a Charvel with almost the same exact specs. Probably built by the same people too. A CNC machine doesn't know what country its in. Lol

    • @leostratonly
      @leostratonly ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@19red80 yeah dude. Why would somebody waste so much money on this. Like you can buy TWO guitars with the same spects as this one. If you buy this, you’re an idiot probably. Those inverse shark inlays look like a copy of a Jackson too :p

    • @countzero5150
      @countzero5150 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The problem with these is that Jackson themselves make better specced soloists for less. It's not like they're strictly competing with Ibanez or ESP, they're competing with their own product lines. If this were made in Korea is would be $1300, Indonesia it would be $1000. You're not paying for how it's made, you're paying for where it's made.
