- This was my first time fishing the Coney Island pier in Brooklyn New York , I was on the hunt for some new species . I only had a few hours to fish so I decided to try using a sabiki rig and clams
Equipment used
Rod - 7 foot Tsunami Carbon Shield II spinning (Medium fast) rated 1/8 - 3/4 oz (10-20lb line)
Reel - Daiwa BG 3000 (5.6:1 gear ratio) 6+1 ball bearings
Line - 30 pound Power Pro braid
2 ounce pyramid sinker
Rig - Marathon sabiki rig size 6
Bait - Frozen salted clam
As five year old kids in the 1950's at Coney Island, , we would stand in the water up to our knees with a hand net, and scoop up these fish all day long. There were mussels all over the jetties and winter flounder in the bays was plentiful. Life at this beach completely disappeared for sixty years. Thanks for the video.
Great video it was also nostalgic to see Coney Island again
Loved the video.
as a small boy my grandfather took me to the pier to fish for many, many years. Great memories there. We would catch flounder, fluke, porgies, snapper blues ,crabs, and once in a while, a stripe bass. The secret spot is where the first wave brake all the little crabs and crustaceans would get turned up and the fish would feed on them. Best bait i remember was mussels and blood worms.
I love scads they're cool little fish. I've caught Rough, Round, and Bigeye scad in NY
The fishing was excellent 👍👍👍
Good video. Just subscribed to your channel. Good luck
I don't fish there. The guys that fish there are poachers, not fishermen.
