De Panne Station Level Crossing

Monday May 20 2024 at 12.05. The 9.51 Antwerpen-Centraal to De Panne (12.08) train. De Panne is at the top corner of Belgium next to the English Channel as you can see on the map. I first came here on my birthday in 2002 but not to film. Drink, cigarettes and petrol were much cheaper here so many people used to come particularly after the tunnel opened in 1994. It's an attractive small town with sandy beaches. I've been here after an Atlantic storm and it can have a sandy high street too. Trams operate along the Belgium coast. The rail service used to continue into France but now De Panne is the terminus. 589 British soldiers are buried here.

Fun fact, the tram route you've mentioned/illustrated which runs along the Belgian coast is the longest tram route in the world!
