Jeremy Parsons you're dumb. I'm from Ghana 🇬🇭 in African and never knew how it is to be black in a multiracial country until in stepped foot in America where being black is makes you to be viewed stereotypically as being more liable to commit crimes, hard to get the best jobs and less of a human as though being black is a crime. She says she never knew how it felt to be black is because we (Africans) respect all races and treat people of different races just as we will want to be treated. We treat them with respect and are very kind and hospitable people who work hard for what we get and are very proud of whatever little we're able to achieve for ourselves. Yes not only her but a lot of us born and raised in Africa never knew how it felt to be black until we came to the US so don't go about chatting shit you know nothing about!!

There's nothing wrong with equal rights for both sexes. It makes thing less difficult as the roles aren't as strict so neither will act out if they can't always meet the role.
Rip Van, I agree with you and great point, "If God had wanted men and women to be equal, then He would have made us all hermaphrodites". Sooo true. You see there has to be a balance; there are certain things women can't necessarily do and vice versa. Mothers are designed to spend majority of their time with their children; they are naturally nurturing etc. At the same time, if a man and a woman are doing exact same job they should be getting the same pay. There is good part of feminism and I think there is more positive to feminism than negative - pay equality, standing against rape etc. For example in Nigeria I was raped at about eight years old but told by family members its my fault for being raped. I know there will always be women who used their bodies to get ahead in life but there are times one didn't ask for it. There is positive to feminism but the extreme is also bad. If her viewpoint is equality for male and female across the board then that would be an extreme version of feminism. I don't think that God designed for women to dominate men.
Is there any facts that say why men and women shouldn't be equal?. Facts not opinions?. Of course there should be equality. It's stupid to argue against it.

One thing i've realized is - We've been here before. This is not the first we're experiencing all these problems. And there's a reason a lot of things took on the form they did, maybe they got too extreme along the way, but there are REASONS as to THE WHY.
It is so important to understand that ppl discuss issues from their own personal perspectives, experiences, & lack of experience. She has combined her culture & hardships of coming to America & the struggle she continues to incur & witness when she goes back home. Without others understanding "her" culture, upbringing, & background, it is hard to differentiate some of the exaggerated view points due to the mixture of two cultures that still collide as she is still adjusting & identifying to who she is, where she is, & where she is going. I've reached this conclusion by listening to her interviews & seeing the growth & change as she encounters others & is exposed to more. She has an outside perspective, which I find refreshing but on the other side of the coin there is an underlining ignorance of what it is to live & walk things out AS someone who has EMBRACED America vs someone who is on the outside looking in & participates as an observer.
So poignant! I would agree that her opinions and positions on social constructs are provocative and insightful, but by no means are they all-encompassing. Individual points of view have seperate and defined beginnings that are further shaped by the dynamics of our environments and unique experiences. Each is a measure of truth, because points of view, observations, and interpretations may differ from person to person. None of them are whole truths, but as it is, many are ready to adopt someone else's position as a whole truth for themselves.
Nope. This is definitely a western phenomenon too. Do you know how many men have said they'd hate for their wives to earn more money than them or that they'd feel emasculated if their wives were more successful than them. Trust me, this is 100% true. Not all people will think like this, but I think she's right. A lot of men feel threatened by the success of women and maybe even subconsciously end up putting them down in the workplace, at home, etc. Western men and Nigerian men experience this problem. Don't think that over here we're too developed to not be immune to such ideology.
John Doe Well, it doesn't make anyone feel better knowing that they aren't the only ones suffering from a particular condition. Question is:- How is this remedied
bbp adejumo, well for one I think if we can stop acting like it doesn't exist and that people who mention it are crazy, triggered feminists who just hate men or whatever bs stereotypes we hear everyday. I think that's the first step. Other than that, it's a matter of upbringing I think. I feel like a man/woman in his 30s, 40s, what have you, pretty much has his/her ideology more or less set in stone. If a man has grown up thinking men should be above woman, that view isn't going to suddenly change in his 50s. But if we raise our children differently with positive attitudes towards girls and women such that they don't feel threatened by women succeeding and don't try to put them down (as Adichie puts it "shrink themselves"), then society will move forward. But yh, to recap, it's a worldwide issue, not a Nigerian one, and I don't know how much about Adichie you actually know, but she's very well-read, well-traveled and very experienced so you'd be mistaken to think that because she grew up in Nigeria, her outlook on life is Nigeria-centric. If you haven't, watch a TED talk she gave called "The Danger of a Single Story". It's very good. Have a nice day :)

My problem with all this BS around the world is that why are media not referring to her TED Talk about Single Story about Africa, this is because it does to appeal to the rest of the world, rather they talk so much about the Feminist talk because it is a political tool for them
Chimamanda is a great woman and Igbo sister. I only disagree on certain issues. Using European language or terms feminism etc. Hmm this has more to do with Abrahamic religions or cultures. Then traditional African culture. Also race is an issue I got over a long time ago. I’m African and proud no one will not make me feel and different. Africans that have issues with this usually(other than certain episodes) have low racial/self esteem. Ironically I felt sorry for non Africans. Whining about racism is something that had more prominence in the 60’s. African ppl complain about this but walk around worshipping Europeans as god(aka Jesus aka Christianity) and wear Europeans names. Do they wear yours? And a massi once said don’t call me Kenyan that like telling the Europeans thank you for creating me. Nigeria is garbage. Europeans enclosed us into a nation that doesn’t make sense. And leaders that well you fill in the blanks! I love Igbo I love Yorubas Fulani. But Nigeria nah son! And race in America hmm poor school systems in Nigeria. Educate yourself beforehand. This is the culture in European nations get use to it or it will crush you. Africans in the West are you and they are you. Know thy self. Chimamanda still gets my support will buy her book next month! And she is beautiful
Chimamanda is very intelligent woman, but i think we should begin to look for someone who will also come up with intelligent ideas that will speak for men and their rights
Code Regent you for starts, why don't you speak for the men? After all, you own your experiences. Why should it be Chimamananda that should speak for the men? Can she speak from both sides of the mouth? She talks about issues she is vexed with. It is up to you to speak up for yours. Unless you really, don't have anything to say, and only just want to join the me-too club.
Is it ok to address her as Chimamanda like in all these comments? Shouldn't she be addressed by her last name like we do with all public figures? Am I missing something?!
she is great. But she should know how much black privilege she has. I know a lot of white women who could not say what she is saying for fear of their safety. White women who want to dress as wonderfully as she would be accused of cultural appropriation, which is a bad thing. People should be and look how they wish as long as it isnt meant or doesnt do harm.
This is a beautiful rendition about women, and basis for gender equality and failed to admit why they're two different types of sex: male and female. Naturally male is dominant and female is weaker and need protection from the male. Any other assumption is vanacular.
I kind of hear people praising her on the comments section but I disagree with everything she is saying. There is a little bit of nuance on some of the things she says and some of it are just outright rubbish clouded with fine words.
I expect my girls to have their own bread... Racism.. I find offensive... you can be so on guard and uptight about racism that you actually push people away... how can someone embrace you if you're always angry about race.. You know I lived wicked, but I never disliked anyone just because of their skin color.. ..mostly I disliked the presumptuous attitude that just because I'm white that somehow made me racist... Like that one woman said the other day , " everytime I go outside people see me as a 'black' woman..." I can relate, everytime I go outside people see me as a 'white guy'..
Maybe they should tell young women in the US if you are promiscuous use birth control or be a baby-mama and a welfare recipient as a career feminist's and the welfare system are destroying the black community
macpony2571780 She made books, directed movies and been in movies...... The black community is fine and growing. What about the fact their are more whites on welfare than blacks? Is the white community destroyed? You sound stupid.
Sean Go mez Yep, that sounds about right! As an American chick, I'll go as far as to say we women have more rights than men. Plus, men go out of their way to be courteous and helpful to women, which isn't necessarily reciprocated. I'm a straight white woman who'll go out of my way to open doors for both genders (yes, I said "both", not "all", haha. Don't get me started on that subject), but rarely do I see other women do so for men. It may sound like an obscure observation, but it says a lot, IMHO.
Elizabeth Joseph As a Brit I'm custom to opening doors for ladies it was dread into me by my mom, I do find it different here in the UK, feminism and all that. We had Mrs Thatcher as PM back in the 80s and Mrs May now, so our American friends need to catch up lol.
Sean Go mez Hell YES we need to catch up! I'd never vote for any official solely based on sex, but FFS, Capitol Hill still seems to run on a good ol' boys system (waiting for the commenters who point out X- number of female politicians here *looks at wrist*). Good manners are great to have. I just think there are some people who expect said manners from others, instead of appreciating them :/ Your mom is great. Please thank her for me!
she's not even American. I honestly don't get why we put so much faith in foreigners' comments about our "history" or "culture." Doesn't matter if you "now live here." I can't move to France for 10 years and start giving televised interviews on the President who's been in office for 3 months
well that's just the problem. she's not a coach at all. in fact, she's talking about things she's just simply not qualified to be talking about. you're equivalent would be a coach from an entirely different sport and team coming to tell me about how we should be playing. a coach of a team with a much poorer record, nonetheless!
Smooth kriminal Psalm 14:1- To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
Your comments show the lens through which you judge things re racism. All you can see, listen and judge her by is through your prism of race: that is racism. Nothing in her discuss provides evidence for your comment and using the term black feminism, a non existent thing, reveals the attribute of someone who throws in demeaning labels and accusations as an aside in a bid to cause distracting arguments and discuss into justifying and discussing identities and self worth. It appears narcissists are everywhere
Feminist what are u really fighting for? Women are doing so well already, which is also why you are bold and have your voice heard now. We already have female presidents, prime ministers, CEOs, entrepreneurs, you name it. Your movement and ideology should have started centuries earlier when it was really needed. Now u are just making noise, getting everyone confused, ruining families and lives in a very subtle way that can not be easily detected. 😣

This is the culture in European nations get use to it or it will crush you. Africans in the West are you and they are you. Know thy self. Chimamanda still gets my support will buy her book next month! And she is beautiful
?
She's right! As a black person, you are immediately judge by your looks. So pathetic!!
Chimamanda is very intelligent woman, but i think we should begin to look for someone who will also come up with intelligent ideas that will speak for men and their rights
Code Regent what. You want. More rights than you already have?
Code Regent you for starts, why don't you speak for the men? After all, you own your experiences. Why should it be Chimamananda that should speak for the men? Can she speak from both sides of the mouth? She talks about issues she is vexed with. It is up to you to speak up for yours. Unless you really, don't have anything to say, and only just want to join the me-too club.
WAAA WAAA
Is it ok to address her as Chimamanda like in all these comments? Shouldn't she be addressed by her last name like we do with all public figures? Am I missing something?!
I don't raise my girls like that .... sorry boo!!!!
she is great.
You're joking, right?? This is almost funny.
Very well spoken but I disagree that all girls have to be likable. Hilary was judged the same as male opposition.
Ff
This is a beautiful rendition about women, and basis for gender equality and failed to admit why they're two different types of sex: male and female. Naturally male is dominant and female is weaker and need protection from the male. Any other assumption is vanacular.
shocker that a feminist doesn't like President Trump
I kind of hear people praising her on the comments section but I disagree with everything she is saying. There is a little bit of nuance on some of the things she says and some of it are just outright rubbish clouded with fine words.
Yet, you still haven't said anything boy!
Like that one woman said the other day ,
" everytime I go outside people see me as a 'black' woman..."
I can relate,
everytime I go outside people see me as a 'white guy'..
Maybe they should tell young women in the US if you are promiscuous use birth control or be a baby-mama and a welfare recipient as a career feminist's and the welfare system are destroying the black community
macpony2571780 how if there are telling women to empower themselves and get off the floor and work.
macpony2571780 So what is it doing for the poor white community..Riddle me that Batman..what does that even have to do with what she spoke of?
So, you think only black people are on welfare and white people are not getting destroyed by welfare?
macpony2571780 She made books, directed movies and been in movies...... The black community is fine and growing. What about the fact their are more whites on welfare than blacks? Is the white community destroyed? You sound stupid.
I wasn't aware of LAWS in the US and UK that sectioned off woman...
Because there aren't any, LOL.
Elizabeth Joseph a great feminist debunker said feminists are conspiracy nutters they actualy believe in the crap they say.
Elizabeth Joseph
As a Brit I'm custom to opening doors for ladies it was dread into me by my mom, I do find it different here in the UK, feminism and all that.
She's got a head full of cliches.
funny guy
Wat is urz filled with? Nonsense.
@@TheBronzeSage Who is this?
@@TheBronzeSage very funny. I laughed
Another liberal intellectual bites the dust.
Nonsensical conversation, for the most part.
she's not even American. I honestly don't get why we put so much faith in foreigners' comments about our "history" or "culture." Doesn't matter if you "now live here." I can't move to France for 10 years and start giving televised interviews on the President who's been in office for 3 months
shyt37 when in it you don't see it take an outside perspective to show you some flaws. That's there are coaches to point out what players don't see
well that's just the problem. she's not a coach at all. in fact, she's talking about things she's just simply not qualified to be talking about. you're equivalent would be a coach from an entirely different sport and team coming to tell me about how we should be playing. a coach of a team with a much poorer record, nonetheless!
shyt37 I can see your point, I think the issue comes down to the belief, hers and yours don't match.
Was So Special About America. LONG HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSH...
Let’s define the “our” shall we?
Terrible report, absolutely appalling.
Men and women are not equal! God will set these people straight real soon!
KING JACOB Ha! will he now? well without your mother you wouldn't be here to say such ignorant things! Without women there's no life.
You have proof of your delusions to believe in god.
You have proof of your delusions to believe in god.
Without BOTH, there is no life.
Smooth kriminal Psalm 14:1- To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
How does one move towards something that already exists? Miss Chimichanga here is living in a fantasy land.
Black Feminism Against Donald Trump. Can already tell where this one is going. Ugh, why can't they stop. Just drop a like in agreement.
This interview wasn't anti-Trump but okay...
@@donaenoble7835 Eloquent response and I agree.
nahhhh
I will not read your stuff.
A powerhouse I must say!
