I have a book, published in 1917, that shows this closing procedure...I have been closing bags like this for decades. So glad that original/old ideas come around again and again...
Thank you! I PREFER using bags. I suppose that I could be referred to as a “Bagger”. Every time I give anything it’s always bagged and they ❤️ it 😊 from food and clothes whether new or used; particularly, my cooked meals in flip trays.
I just did this with a gift bag with lots of smaller goodies and I had no problem getting stuff out. Perhaps replacing the handles with a longer ribbon would make it easier to get larger items out of the bag though.
Tried and tried it on an empty bag . I could only open it a small bit. What if you have a gift that's bigger than the opening then, it's a big hassel to undo everything😮😅
I accidentally realized this hack very recently when bringing home a gift bag from the store and realizing it had only one side strung with a handle, the heck ? Quelle horror! What even happened to the other side of this brand new bag?? Well, I poked the end thingys from the one handle through both sides and it worked to seal it and carry it. So now we know.. Thanks so much !
I am a merchandiser for a world wide card company. I stock the cards and bags at local stores. Sometimes the bags are packaged and sent with one handle missing. I think the same thing. WTF happened to the other handle. I obviously don't put that bag out but some people don't check their bags like I do so they get missed and they get stocked. They're obviously lacking quality control at the manufacturing level. Overseas so I'm sure they don't employ people for that position.
why would you close it. actually most people don't even use a gift bag correctly to begin with. you take a couple peices of tissue paper lay them slightly off center of each other set your gift on it bring the sides of tissue up and set gift inside bag with the corners sticking out the top for prettyness.
I’ve had many ppl peak at other ppls gifts or their own when it’s not the right day or time, so doing it this way for private gifts, they’re less likely to try to peak when you aren’t looking when it’s harder to open and close the gifts and it’s less likely to fall all over and get messed up😂and unfortunately I even have self experience when I was young I opened my gift in a bag went on my new phone then put it back the night before Christmas 😅I wouldn’t of done it if it was harder to open like this because that Would of taken yo much time to sneak it quickly. I do like the tissue paper sticking out way I still do it for gifts that I don’t care if the person sees at that moment or if I want it to sit pretty for days before someone opens it
How can there be a right way & a wrong way in using a gift bag 🤷🏻♀️it’s a matter of preference isn’t it? Some people like it with a tissue paper sticking out others like it closed…& some other person might like it some other way. Why do we have to make up unnecessary rules of right or wrong where they don’t apply at all 🤔
OMG. I just watched this and did it with xmas bags that I generally keep hidden due to a 9 yr old’s prying eyes. Now I can put them under the tree earlier.
Unfortunately, this didn't work for my bag. There are no loose ends to the strings. They have been sealed under the flap at the top of the bag and glued closed. There are also no holes visible on the outside of the bag. I guess I had better get the tape out then. 😕

Wonderful!
Awesome 🎉 thank ya !!
You bet!
That's neat but wouldn't it make it kinda hard to get the gifts out?
No, just pull the strings out of the holes you put then through.
That's exactly what I thought! 😁
🤦didn't think of that one

This is awesome so things don't spill out. Yes you have to undo the strings to get large items out, but it's worth it.

And I’ve had gift bags also fell all over the place while trying to transport it to someone in the car or walking 😅and this way it stays put
I wrap the gift with a piece of tissue paper then put in bag. Then put a few pieces of tissue paper, off center, poking out of the bag.

I did it but I did a bow bcs there was a bit extra
So you have to rip the bag to get the gift out
Nope 👍
