I’ve shared your videos with my youngest brother that converted to Catholism this year. We live on opposite sides of the globe but thanks to modern social media have been able to stay in touch and to be able to easily share such wonderful material like the ones you produce. Thank you for your devotion and your calling. I’m so proud to have you speak for our faith👍👍👍😊......from🇨🇦
Thank you so much for all that you do, Brother Casey! You are a wonderful role model for men and women of all faiths. I appreciate all the extra hard work that you put into creating all of your videos and for sharing your personal experiences with the entire world. You give us all a look inside of one religious order that we would not otherwise have. Thanks again, and may God bless you! ✝️
Seeing this today in 2020 and I would love a video where you go deeper on what is meant to be a lay brother, what they do and how they chose that way to serve God
Very insightful video. I like how you made a very clever distinction between the goodness of the sense of duty to "fix" things, and it's non-sufficiency for forming a priestly vocation. Keep it up :)
Dear Br. Casey, I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your programs. I am an Episcopal vowed brother in the Brotherhood of St. Gregory, and I pray that one day both churches will reunite. Keep up the great work Christ has called you to do.
May God bless you and Mother Mary protect you, Brother! Thank you for your good, funny and informative videos. I'm preparing a teaching unit on St. Francis of Assisi and your videos are really an inspiration, thank you :) looking forward to even more videos about our beautiful faith. Pax et bonum!
Brother Casey, Sunday school classes are about to start by the end of the month for our parish. I do my best to answer all the questions the children ask me on why they have to go to CCD and the most famous question of all, i get forced to go to mass etc,, lol. A video on this topic would be a great help for us catechism teachers. Two things I have noticed from the children is they pay more attention if I read out of the Bible compared to the class work handouts and anything electronic. Combine them both together and it can be a lesson that they will not forget. Just a thought any suggestions would be helpful.
Hi there friend. I recently ran across your videos. Very glad as a result. I hope your life is currently going well. Thank you for expressing love and kindness.
My personal calling is music. If you only knew how much wonderful music I cherish, have available in my inner ear (not iTunes, but instead my brain) -- I have a dual PhD in Music Theory and Music History, but I'm also known for my work on Renaissance music manuscripts. "God" gave me incredible gifts; I'm very grateful. It's up to me as to how I use them. Think about it . . . when Michelangelo finally finished painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel . . . there was a Mass, a celebration. So, my friend, my brother . . . ever wonder about what the choir sang that day? p.s. I'm a cellist by trade. And, please keep up your wonderfully ministry. You've alreadymade a difference in my life . . . by simple things, like a smile, and an understanding attitude. You're like Fonzie; you're cool.

we love listening your videos.. helping us to increase our faith... how I wish to see you here in our Parish.. Holy Cross Catholic Church, Nicosia, Cyprus.. Custody of the Holy Land.. our parish blessed with all Franciscan Friars..
When within all brother congregations, there was division - some were "worker brothers" who addressed the daily needs of upkeep and other tasks such as maintaining buildings, cleaning and cooking or sewing. Often, they wore a different color of habit or something that showed that were engaged in other work. Teachers ( I was a De LaSalle brothers) wore the black habit of which we were so noted for wearing. Now, that is gone, and was gone before I entered back in the 70's.
I just came across this video and while we have disagreed on a few items, I know you will be a most welcome addition to the priesthood. Thank you so much for your comments on the Brothers. God bls u Fr. Thank u 4 ua commitment 2 ua priestly Calling in God's vineyard. May God bls u wit a wonderful, fruitful & long life, thr Jesus Christ, amen. We pray that many more young men & women will also b Called in2 religious life., amen. Question: why s th number of priests decreasing in USA & in EUROPE?
I used to be doubtful whether I should be a friar or a priest, and there were nobody to guide me in my younger days. There are almost no friar in my country, almost all are priests. If I had listened to your talk 20 years ago, it would have shed away my doubt to join the Fransiscan brotherhood right away, and became a friar.
Br. Casey, saludos... Felicidades por el vídeo. Sería bueno hacer un vídeo sobre la vida comunitaria y la misericordia. Bendiciones y una oración por su vocación
I had a double major and a double minor. Political science / criminal justice Psychology / architecture drafting abs design. I took a 21 hour course load each semester. First I wastold I could not take such a course load. As I wastold I could not live of campus my freshman year. However since I wasalready a home owner, bought my first home at 18 right or is high school. Paid cash for it too. I would have bought it at 16 but I had to put my money in a bank and get a job to prove it wasn't drug money. My electives were all religion and medical. Love your videos very informative. I was wondering if a video can be made on the age related to enter a seminary. As we know there is a common age for it but I have also hear that one can enter later in life 40+ is that true. Thanks and god blessed
I think with the rise of the right and nationalism, we will see a rise in young volunteers for the church. I certainly am a product of that, it is this collective movement that pushed me to uphold tradition and religion.
I'm happy to hear that. My experience has actually been the opposite, but it's good to hear that people on the right are concerned with volunteerism as well!
Strange that you think the rise of fascism is good for the priesthood… the millions of Catholics who were deported to Nazi camps would disagree. 100,000 Catholic Poles were murdered at Auschwitz. Right wing, nationalist authoritarianism is, by definition, fascism.
The reason for _me_ to ask this question would be the concern for the proper form of address. Is it, Brother Michael, or Father Michael? And if I get it wrong, will that be offensive? Not that I ever encountered a friar...
Thank you so much,Brother casey.Whay you said in the video really touched me. I'm not a christian now , but I think I will become a christian someday in the future. Your channel helps me a lot.
I still don't understand. Like what is the difference between like what San Padre Pio was and a priest in a parish? Not counting the ability to intercede in the miracles and bi location..
would a homosexual man (but who practices chastity) be able to become a Brother? I do not mean to offend anyone with this question, therefore please, if someone wants to send a hurtful message, please restrain yourself. Thank you very much
Being a lector is not an ordination but an "installation." Technical point. For this reason, I would imagine that it does not have a permanent character (although I am not sure.) Regardless, these installations really don't mean much outside of the process of ordination. They were originally meant to be lay "orders" but there were problems that derailed this plan.
Breaking In The Habit Oh now I get it. Also I am discerning the priesthood. I’m kinda torn between religious and secular priest.. why does being a religious priest take so long? A Rogationist priest once told me that it took him 11 years to become one..
It's been my experience that most people don't know the difference. Just today I answered this question twice. I have never been asked the difference between the Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo.
if you are a roman catholic most people do know the difference. so you don't know the difference between the two masses? are u a priest or brother then?
I don't think it's really fruitful to fight over each others' experiences. As someone in my position, the number one question that I have to explain is the difference between a priest and a brother. You may not think so among Catholics, but it is unequivocally the most misunderstood. As far as the differences between the two masses, I have studied them and they are fairly self-evident.
Yes, but technically no. In order to become a cardinal, one would have to be a bishop. In order to be a bishop, one would have to leave the order (as someone in the order is obedient to their superior, and a bishop is an ordinary of the Church, meaning that he cannot be obedient to a local superior.) Cardinal Sean O'Malley, a capuchin, is an example.
"Which is an adversary, and exalteth himself against all that is called God, or that is worshipped: so that he doth sit as God in the Temple of God, showing himself that he is God." 2 Thess 2:4
"And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:18-19 "The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, 'How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?' Jesus said to them, 'Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you.'" John 6:52-53 I would also recommend studying the Didache, Ignatius of Antioch, Justin Martyr and the Apostolic Tradition, all texts from the first 200 years of Christianity, to see that the foundation of Christian life remains present in the Catholic Church.
I was raised Catholic. You aren't fooling anyone. Jesus is the rock of the church. The passage said you are[petros] and on a [petra] I will build my church. Catholicism spits on Jesus by calling him a piece of flour and making a false sacrifice every pagan mass. It is babylonian paganism.
You keep using that world, but do you know what paganism is? Catholics worship by continuing the Jewish Passover meal celebrated by Jesus himself in Scripture, one that he transformed and blessed to be a physical means of experiencing the spiritual. Since the earliest Church (read the Didache, c. 90, Ignatius of Antioch, c. 110, and many other Church Fathers) the Church has celebrated this feast and believed that it was the real presence of Jesus, celebrated under the authority of the bishop, the successor of the Apostles. This is not something that the Catholic Church made up, and it is not paganism, it is the constant and unbroken tradition of the Church. For more information, here are some primary sources: www.therealpresence.org/eucharst/father/fathers.htm
The Church of Rome only takes the parts of the bible that it finds convenient to twist. Read what happened to Israel and Judah in the prophetic books to see what the fate of the church of Rome will be. '..and then shall that wicked ONE be revealed who the Lord will consume with the spirit of his mouth and destroy with the brightness of his coming.' That wicked one is your Antichrist pope, that is drunk with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus and spoke blasphemies against the most high. Dan 7:25
good day.. im from malaysia.. and I am from the Anglican church.. but most of my families are catholic.. I have two cousins who are now on their 1st year studying on becoming a priest and I have an uncle who is a Franciscan frier.. I always look at them as a role model.. and I have this urge to become either a priest or a brother (still choosing between dominican, Franciscan or Carmelite Sangti Ellia).. but the problem is im an aclican and if I have to change my denomination it would take me 2 years of studying.. I always go to the sunset mass on saturday evening and go to the anglican service the next day.. some of mu family members ask me to choose wether to continue to becoming an acglican follower or go after the calling at the catholic church.. any advise?
That's a kind of complicated, but normal question. There are a lot of factors involved and I'm hesitant to give any advice. I think the best thing to do is to find a spiritual director who can help you work through the decision in prayer, someone who can meet with you regularly and can get the full story from you.
Hi +Frindey Francis, greeting you in the name of our Lord God. I glad to hear you were called by God to accept His vocation offering. I also from Malaysia, in the city of Kuching, Sarawak. Last time during my teenage year on 2000, our church has 1 Anglican Franciscan Friar's, currently I was made known he is serving the community at Australia Franciscan hermitage since the Anglican Franciscan community is in great numbers of members at there. My opinion is if you choose to join in Anglican Franciscan order, it is not wrong. If I not mistaken there are no differences for Franciscan orders in both Anglican or Catholic denomination. But for sure to to be a Catholic as a way to join the order, you have to be baptized and confirmed as a Catholic first prior to join the Order. If you have been confirmed into Anglican church in your Diocese, just remain in it and consult with your Parish Office priests for their further advises.
To be a priest, religious brother is a vocation to serve God not yourself. The conditions are obedience, chastity and poverty.A postulant,a novice, and religious studies.
@@BreakingInTheHabit Hey Fr. Casey.... i am a young boy at the age of 13 Discerning Franciscan life and Priesthood..... I Have learning Disabilities and i have no clue what to do..... is there any Minor Vocation things the Franciscans can offer?
I once heard you say you don't pray the Holy Rosary. To me us a real shame you being a priest and a Friar don't follow that devotion as a good Christian should do.

Frindey Francis Dear brother in Christ. it is advisable that you discern more on His call for you. Talk to the parish priest if you are hesitate. But above all, pray for His guidance. God bless. Love to hear from you. Shallom.
Frindey Francis Don't see those two years as an impediment to belong to the Church. On the contrary, they will be a wonderful instance to know the faith better and get closer to God. There's nothing like a solid faith, and for this its necessary to study.
Convert, study nursing, pharmacy, x ray, physiotherapy, nutrition, social work, hospital administration, medicine and enter the Camillian congregation as the Ministers of the Infirm. Just make sure you pump up your immune system as the Camillians are ministers of the sick. The family that prays together, stays together.
You are a true gift for the church
Thanks! Hopefully people will see Christ in me and not just me.
You make great videos! Thank you! And btw. it is so beautiful to see brothers Franciscans in their habits.

Very insightful video.
I like how you made a very clever distinction between the goodness of the sense of duty to "fix" things, and it's non-sufficiency for forming a priestly vocation.
Keep it up :)

When I grow up I want to join the Order of Preachers. Would you recommend me to have my theology studies in a secular university or in a seminary?
It really depends on the university and you preference. I think you can have a great experience with either.
The most important part is the vocation to serve the Lord.
I had a double major and a double minor. Political science / criminal justice
Psychology / architecture drafting abs design. After I passed the bar I went back for fun to get a degree in comparative religion. I wanted a degree in philosophy but my parents talked me out of it. So I returned yet again for medicine. I'd give almost anything to be a Prussian career student. Although we are almost all career students, for some reason the wilfully ignorant like argument from authority. Which shows just how ignorant they are. Knowledge nor wisdom is marked by age, experience or adventure. It's marked by desire and inquisition.
So...how do you tell the difference? I just ask, "Brother or priest?" And they will tell me - so I can properly address each accordingly. Thanks!
christophe p You could just ask, are you a priest?
Love your videos very informative. I was wondering if a video can be made on the age related to enter a seminary. As we know there is a common age for it but I have also hear that one can enter later in life 40+ is that true. Thanks and god blessed

Howto become Religous Brothers of Franciscan?
This explains a lot
I feel like this is my calling but I'm very poor
Hello there i dont know if you see this, in Ireland its free to do basically anything religious maybe it doesnt cost money where you are?
I still don't understand.
Like what is the difference between like what San Padre Pio was and a priest in a parish? Not counting the ability to intercede in the miracles and bi location..
were you confused before entering the congregation what you wanted from life
A little bit. It took me a few years of discernment before I knew that I wanted to join the friars.
Brother, is it possible that you might be stationed in the Diocese of Arlington in Virginia? How does that work exactly?
Please put more videos
Hiii fr.
I m from India
THANK YOU
Thanks, I think I found the "bottom", good place to begin.
Basically the same difference between a Commissoned Officer and a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Military.
I contacted the Franciscans. I haven't heard anything from them yet.
Wow. I did not know that.
Im thirty? can i become a brother or priest ?
Love this video!
would a homosexual man (but who practices chastity) be able to become a Brother? I do not mean to offend anyone with this question, therefore please, if someone wants to send a hurtful message, please restrain yourself. Thank you very much
THERE ARE PRIESTS WHO GO AMONG THE SICK AND INJURED PEOPLE WHO ARE OUTCASTS OF SOCIETY GOD BLESS THE PRIESTS WHO DO THIS
Thats the Camillian priests 4th vow.
Very good true amen allieluya
I want to be a brother too, but a Jesuit one.
Thank
Noob question, but can Franciscans become bishops ?
So you’re a Transitional Deacon Vs a permanent deacon
Hello

well most normal people know the difference. Do you know the difference from the Latin Mass or the Novus ordo mass??
It's been my experience that most people don't know the difference. Just today I answered this question twice. I have never been asked the difference between the Latin Mass and the Novus Ordo.

The conditions are obedience, chastity and poverty.A postulant,a novice, and religious studies.
can a Brother become a Pope?
No. To be Pope, one must be ordained.
@@BreakingInTheHabit ok thanks for clearing that up.
What college did you go to?
Furman University in Greenville, SC. www.Furman.edu
is brother and catholic monks are the same
A monk is a religious who lives in a monastery, whose main ministry is prayer, and takes a vow of stability. A brother is any male religious.
Breaking In The Habit. Father random thought can a brother, later become a permanent Deacon?
So do you want to be a Father or a Brother? Jk.
good day.. im from malaysia.. and I am from the Anglican church.. but most of my families are catholic.. I always go to the sunset mass on saturday evening and go to the anglican service the next day.. some of mu family members ask me to choose wether to continue to becoming an acglican follower or go after the calling at the catholic church.. any advise?
Frindey Francis Tough choice....It’s hard to leave the faith that you were raised in, but I think that you should go Catholic.

Frindey Francis Dear brother in Christ. it is advisable that you discern more on His call for you. Talk to the parish priest if you are hesitate. But above all, pray for His guidance. God bless. Love to hear from you. Shallom.
Frindey Francis Pray to God and ask if it is truly what He wants. Have faith, brother.
Frindey Francis Don't see those two years as an impediment to belong to the Church. On the contrary, they will be a wonderful instance to know the faith better and get closer to God. There's nothing like a solid faith, and for this its necessary to study.
