We’ve been hit by bird flu and most types of food has gone up in the UK too, inflation is currently at 10.5%, 🙁but nothing as scary to what you find in your supermarket in gorgeous Bermuda!
... very interesting, thank you. I'm thinking of the friendly bus drivers und waitresses at Elbow beach, the taxi driver who gave us a lift while we were dripping wet when rain was pouring down and the young male teenagers who wished us a happy mothers day and showed us (2 elderly ladies) their disco, how hard it must be for them. ❤❤❤ - now I'm home sick for Bermuda ...
Bermuda is ripe for fish farms in the Shallow water around the island and chicken farms for eggs etc.. Also floating solar panels for huge power delivery for the upcoming electric vehicles for the island, and later solar or hydrogen ships to import stuff way cheaper from usa, bermuda has a bright future
Love your channel. So informative. Thank you. Question: If you come to Bermuda with school age kids how would you ranks the school system? Would you suggest Public or private in your opinion? How were you schooled? Keep up the GREAT work! .
I went through the public system but it’s different now (not in a good way). I would say public elementy is still good but high school, go private if you can afford it
@@OmarJames Thank you for your advice. Love your work. And if you make a video about the school system? Count me down for 10 views as I take notes! ;).
Great video. While the base prices are higher there, we're experiencing a lot of the same stuff here in AZ especially with eggs. Food cost here has been a little higher than most places historically and the recent inflation/gouging has put a lot of staples out of reach of people on subsistence incomes, to say nothing of packaged foods and brand name novelties, which seem to be the main things they are marketing. Keeping yourself fed when prices are like this is a shell game; the prices at one place might be way higher at another because the first was selling it below cost as a loss-leader. I've learned to vary my diet while keeping my nutritional intake roughly the same if something I usually use is suddenly unavailable to me. It's almost like seasonal cooking, but at the whim of the retailers. That being said, all the food that people can't afford DOES go to places as it gets rotated out of stock near sell-by date; there's a place not far from me that sells those feta crumbles 6 tubs for $4 I kid you not. They also have restaurant stuff that never got ordered/prepped. Affordable food is out there, you just have to keep an open mind and palate.
Husband and I are here on vacation, staying in a small apartment. The grocery store prices seemed high but not near as high as they were once converted to Canadian. 😮 We figure we're still saving some money over eating out all the time, but maybe not as much as we hoped.
Inflation does not explain an 700-800% increase - that's madness! Some of those Bermuda retailers are wilin out with the markup. You tellin me they had to wait for someone to put an $8 apple on social media before they decided that it was a "mistake" *blank stare*...y'all ain slick lol
I’m currently considering offer, this is super helpful! Thanks! how’s the rental market going ? Do you think it’s possible for me to find a good 1 bed/studio close to the city for 2000-2500 a month?
@@OmarJames Thanks for the heads-up. Do you have a site you would recommend? I did a quick search online and found very few listings. Vrbo and Airbnb have most of the listings, but they are insanely expensive to rent long term.
I’m stuck at the apple error! If you paid for it you must be so desensitized it didn’t even register as a possible error. Clearly when I come home I need to pack a carryon bag with groceries. Although with the fee it might still be cheaper. 😮
@@OmarJames I got you! Organic Frozen up here are still cheaper than MPs situation. 😂 There are ways to save on food costs in Bermuda but the inflation is undeniable.
Bermuda 🇧🇲 is a UK 🇬🇧 territory and guess what the inflation in the UK 🇬🇧 is the highest in the G7. Omar can you make a video 📹 about the electricity in Bermuda 🇧🇲 how its produced and how much do you pay for it.
The plan was to post this video in December so please note the data in this video is a little old. How has food inflation affected your grocery bill?
You have an even number of videos now, i like even numbers.

The world is definitely catching up....unfortunately
Nice use of chatgpt! You are providing a good service by tracking and reporting on food prices on the island. Cheers from Canada.
😁
Great video and those prices are scary.
Thanks! And yeah, they can be

Completely agree! Definitely planning to do more comparisons and add more reports to help people find cheaper options. Thanks for the great comment!!

Interesting, watch out for the "shrinkflation" (the price stays the same but the package content is reduced)
I wish to come to Bermuda, but I don't know much about the place, I don't know maybe you can help me out on that
