Your arstyle is honestly one of my main inspirations for doing art. People have always told that pursuing a good career is not easy as most artists are not well paid. But this video has taught me that while a path in art is very bumpy, i still have a shot if i keep on going. You improved your art style so much! I started drawing digital around in the mid-late 2000s, and I got inspired by anime/manga, cartoons, video games, etc. I would like to meet new artists and feel free to share our interests (like fandoms). But anyways, your art looks amazing!!! 🥰🥰🥰
Only started drawing like 2 years ago, I tried to get really technical and into the fundamentals with the intent to improve super fast from the get go but I feel it stunted my growth a lot as I didn't allow myself the carelessness and freedom that I would find out later it kinda requires so I'm trying to work that into my drawing. Really want an art style someday as a foundation that I can stick with and grow off of but have no idea how to go about it and have it come naturally. Great video, motivated me to use my tablet after putting it off for a little bit.

I always love videos like this, because learning about someone else's art journey, what they went through and how they evolved over time, both fascinates and inspires me. I've been drawing for about as long as you have, and I started taking it more seriously in 2008, during my 5th grade. I went into an art course in high school (10th-12th grades), but chose not to pursue higher education because I (naively) believed I could just take TH-cam and learn animation by myself in the mean time. Those ended up not happening (both because of technical issues and having no idea what I was doing beyond know video editing and recording), and with my current job, I often find I don't quite have the same energy during the week as I did when I was studying, so I'm at a point where I just don't feel like drawing much during weekdays. Despite that, I do try to experiment with my style to both make it look more appealing and just try new things. Try to find my own strengths and what fits my own flow best. This video not only inspires me but also motivates me to keep going. I'm constantly told by older people in my life that they think my work is great, but that I have to seek out work in the arts *outside* of Portugal if I wanna get anywhere. Which... Admittedly bums me out. But then I came across your shorts. And to find out that someone from my home country, around my age (I was born in 1998, I'm turning 25 next month) is doing more or less what I want to do and hearing the struggles you faced and eventually overcame... this is really inspirational to me as someone whose trying to develop their style! artists never really talk about their art journeys much (or at least i never really watch them oops) so this was nice to see. i’ve been having quite a bit of trouble recently with trying to figure out what exactly i want to do with my art and my style, especially in the future, but this helped me realise i don’t need to worry so much. for now all i can do is practice, because it clearly works! it’s been kinda frustrating because i cant really draw the things i want to and rely on references too much, but now i know i’ve just got to keep practicing, and try and draw things from memory more! thank you thank you for making this!! you’re a big inspiration to me ❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🩷
I'm really surprised about how similar your journey has been to my own! I'm a couple of years younger (not too many), so I started college a few years ago and I'm still on it, but though I do really enjoy my career and it is one that chose because I like it rather than considering how hard it'll be to make a living out of it, I totally resonate with you on college taking a lot of my freetime and energy, which made feel unable to find motivation to draw for a whole year! I just recently got back to drawing and doing it with joy, and God knows I missed it a lot, and I also ended up simplifying in order to keep drawing regularly. Your work and dedication really inspires me to improve and try new things Mari, you're awesome! Keep doing what you love!

For a long time I've been really hard on my self because I felt like my art and art style wasn't the way I wanted it. It felt like no matter what I did it never looked how I wanted it in my head and I felt like I should just give up. Your videos always bring a smile to my face
I remember what got me into anime was Turma da Monica Jovem. Its a brazillian comic series in the form of manga, ill never not be thankful for how much that changed my life and art
The commission comment you made where you didn't want to draw other people's characters. I felt that. I absolutely adore my clients I've had and how kind they were...but it can get draining. Sometimes you need a break from it and time to just draw what you want. I am forever thankful for those who commissioned me though truly ❤
mari i relate to you at 2:27, i did NOT know what the hell pinterest was, but i did know deviantart and google images so id look up.. anime bases, those traced anime bases from deviantart was something else i also used to do "draw the squad" with made up characters on the fly, and i used to do.. ms paint.. and powerpuff girls style cause my classmate whos also my friend influenced me to do that lol
That proves that practice makes the best! I love your videos, I enjoy them all of the time! This video was really motivating to not give up on the path you want, what you chose, everything! I'm so glad I found you, you're literally amazing :D!
This was such a good video 🥺 Thank you for sharing your personal growth with everyone, I'm so proud of everything you achieved! You're such a hardworking person I feel honored I got to witness a fraction your evolution as an artist and content creator. Cheering you on always 💪
I’ve been drawing since 2019 and when i was new to art i thought that you need to be really detailed and just have a really complicated art style but when i saw your art and your success it inspired me to change how i saw “good art” and i really love your style and sort of reflected it onto mine with my own features and now i have a solid art style that i can call mine (thick lines on the outside and thin lines on the inside probably the most useful information i know) so Thank you!!! Marikyuun!!!
Wow that’s amazing art since the start of your career! I’m a beginner at drawing art still I feel so inspired by you to keep trying honestly to develop a great style!✨🤩
its fascinating seeing aspects of your current style in your old one! even if you did a rehash of it i can still see attributes that carried over! your colors have been gorgeous for ages!!
The insane amount of your art that you used in this video really puts it into perspective, huh? You work so hard and I'm very proud of your success, Mari. Keep it up!
Haha, pianist and artist about to start a degree in Chemistry here... I'm simultaneously excited and terrified, and for sure it's gonna be a big squeeze to keep up with everything!
Your art journey is so COOL! I remember seeing your art back in 2021-2022 on instagram. I’ve been struggling with finding my artist voice and style but your art inspired me to embrace my art style, what ever it may be!!😅 I can’t wait to see more of your adorable art and how you’ll art will change in the coming years!! 🤗❤️✨
wow! as someone who is a biology major and is drawing during her free time, hearing how you still went to chase your dreams even after getting your chemistry degree is inspirational! i struggle so much with wanting to no abandon drawing as it is something i love as well!
i've been drawing for 7 years now and i really got inspired when i started watching your videos, and i've been improving my art skills watching a lot of artist techniques, at first i was doing a K.C.A (2018 or so) type of artstyle, and it was a huge improvement, and then i started watching more artists work till i found yours, and i've improved a lot more and now i can tell my art looks more unique now, i finally archieved something to be closer to the style i've been looking for years thanks to you, thank you so much for showing your improvement and also showing me and other artist that we still have a long path to walk by❤❤💕💕 (i'm still 14 so, yea, i have a LONG path of things to improve and discover)
I started drawing since 2/3 yrs old and same as u every paper in my house has been decimated. My dad will always buy water colours and drawing books to encourage i and my sisters(because he said we would need it in science courses). I think i started drawing anime when i first watched pokemon back in 2019, and during the pandemic 2020 i got a phone for my online learning and that's when i was introduced to the massive online art community and soon i started learning how to draw anime. It's been 4 yrs now and im 16yrs old and im very sure i've found my art style! (Still needs polishing tho.)😊
This helps me remember to not feel discouraged because I expect to be at this level in like 2 months of drawing, but in reality it takes a lot of time and dedication! But my mind is like I want to be good artist now, but seeing this really helps put in perspective that art in the beginning wont be where you want it to be but with practice over time you can get better and closer to the skill you want to be at! ❤
you are just my idol, i have so much fun listenning to you, your art is adorable and it inspires me so much! when i see one of your videos it makes me want to draw! thank you for your time, thank you for everything
i love to draw so so much and discovering your channel was the best thing ever I love your Line art you are my biggest inspiration right now and currently I'm improving so much and all thanks to you i truly mean it when I say my drawings haven’t looked better thank you so much
oh my gosh i havent even finished watching the video but the jump in quality from age 13-15!! my art isnt as good as that yet im only 14 but jeez even that art is really good! your newer art is even more amazing and so good! ive been in artblock for a long time but now im slowly crawling out of it. i hope i can be as good as you!
I'm in the same position as you were in 2022 right now.. drawing for my commissioners pays the bills, but I feel like I'm stagnating because I'm worried my commissioners expect a certain art style and quality from me, meanwhile I personally want to experiment more, but don't have the energy to draw in my free time anymore
Thank you for sharing your art journey! Its really inspiring hearing about how you found love for art again despite having a busy schedule! Trying to do the same myself so it really it close to home😅
Was in a art burnout for months and I really can’t afford that as I want to improve on my character drawings and find my style. Seeing that you also felt like this and found a way to ignite the passion again makes me really happy. I also just joined the Vtuber community too and it’s really fun seeing all these different models and characters that it makes me want to try it both as an artist and someone who likes creating in general.
I've been drawing for 4 years now, and i think my artstyle is pretty nice and simple. I really got inspired by this video and I'm planning to start drawing another piece! Good luck to all artist on their art journey!
This is so inspiring. I always thought my art was… decent, but I could never get it to look like any of the anime’s I watched. It’s was always so cartoony and styled. But watching your art grow after 13 years makes me realize that my art can inprove too! Your one of my biggest inspirations when it comes to my art. Thank you.❤❤
I don't even know what i want really cuz im going to university this year to study something scientific and im scared of seeing my self in a situation where i have to stop drawing for something i don't even like as much as drawing. And in my country drawing isn't really a thing that is taken seriously so going to study art related stuff isn't the best idea. Its really frustrating please tell me someone relates 😞
I started drawing back when I was in kindergarten, I completely stopped when COVID hit and I pretended I didn't know how to draw for 3 years. Then I came back to drawing back in August 2023. I'm really drawing way more often and learning lots of new things every drawing I make. I'm excited to see how much my art will improve over the years.
I apsolutely love your new style I personally preffer more simple styles and I love your us of colour and I always love art with nice colours because I know how hard colour theory can be
your an inspiration Mari! this video really hit home for me. and it inspires me to keep going with what I want to do as a career one day. love your art hun
you give me so much hopes , i allways tough that because of my portuguese nacionality i would never be able to earn money drawing (idk why tbh) but when i find your channel and i saw that your portuguese i start to understand that my nacionality is not something that have to forbid me to follow my dreams and its a thing that i have to be proud of ❤
13 years of digital artwork...Wow. That's very good! Although I've been drawing for 25 years, I only started doing so on the computer since 2010, the same year I began my TH-cam channel. Looking back at my drawings from 2010 makes me cringe... Anyway, it's clear to see that you've honed your craft. You have quite the striking aesthetic... I'd say that my "style" is more along the lines of simple American cartoons; emphasis on the _simple_ part. I like having a basic aesthetic. Watching these videos of yours are educational and entertaining, Marikyuun. I enjoy this channel.

It felt like no matter what I did it never looked how I wanted it in my head and I felt like I should just give up. But recently I've been able to prove to myself that I can improve and am always improving. Currently I'm very happy with how my art style looks now and I'm so happy because it's been a struggle for almost 6 years 😭I feel like I can relate a lot to your story and I'm so happy that you blew up online!
I am forever thankful for those who commissioned me though truly ❤
mari i relate to you at 2:27, i did NOT know what the hell pinterest was, but i did know deviantart and google images
so id look up.. anime bases, those traced anime bases from deviantart was something else
i also used to do "draw the squad" with made up characters on the fly, and i used to do.. ms paint.. and powerpuff girls style cause my classmate whos also my friend influenced me to do that lol
i love how u draw hands sooo much! ur artstyle is so pretty! and the improvement shows how much work and effort u put into drawing
I love seeing art progress! You've come so far
I want to draw your old style, but how I can’t even do that😢
Yes you can!
Its really cool one of your friends make Goody Two-Shoes, I love that game! :D
I love your old art style! It looks like the moe art style but I love your own art style!! Still trying to replicate it
its fascinating seeing aspects of your current style in your old one! even if you did a rehash of it i can still see attributes that carried over! your colors have been gorgeous for ages!!
4:02 I love the Celeste so much it’s so cute
The insane amount of your art that you used in this video really puts it into perspective, huh? You work so hard and I'm very proud of your success, Mari. Keep it up!
It's so inspiring to see your art journey and how far you've come 💗 sending lots of love and support!
Omg how can this be so true drawing is starting to get so tiring now i always loved to draw when i was a kid now it doesnt feel the same
Me: see people talking on how they have been drawing all their life
Also me: been drawing for two years
Both your artstyle before simplifying it and after simplifying are amazing! I love both of them
I'm so stressed with my art, Its like no matter how much I "practice" I'm stuck with the same stuff I hate.
Thank you for this video on your art journey.
wow! as someone who is a biology major and is drawing during her free time, hearing how you still went to chase your dreams even after getting your chemistry degree is inspirational! i struggle so much with wanting to no abandon drawing as it is something i love as well!
i've been drawing for 7 years now and i really got inspired when i started watching your videos, and i've been improving my art skills watching a lot of artist techniques, at first i was doing a K.C.A (2018 or so) type of artstyle, and it was a huge improvement, and then i started watching more artists work till i found yours, and i've improved a lot more and now i can tell my art looks more unique now, i finally archieved something to be closer to the style i've been looking for years thanks to you, thank you so much for showing your improvement and also showing me and other artist that we still have a long path to walk by❤❤💕💕 (i'm still 14 so, yea, i have a LONG path of things to improve and discover)
(Still needs polishing tho.)😊
your art has been really inspirational for me, especially the way you draw eyes!
God i love your artstyle, its amazing!
Any tips on how to get more hair detail and perspective poses ( like 3:57 and at 4:08 )
I haven’t been improving at all and need some advice D:
Thank you Mari, let only happy thing happen yo you!❤ (I will always remember thick lines on the outside thin lines on the inside❤)
I started drawing at four lol 😂
My mom was so shocked every time I ran out of sketch book, but I still have to work on my art style
HOLY SHIT MARIKYUUN YOU WERE INTO TOUHOU????? WOW BRO ANYONE I KNOW IS ALWAYS A HIDDEN TOUHOU FAN
you are just my idol, i have so much fun listenning to you, your art is adorable and it inspires me so much! when i see one of your videos it makes me want to draw! thank you for your time, thank you for everything
i love to draw so so much and discovering your channel was the best thing ever I love your Line art you are my biggest inspiration right now and currently I'm improving so much and all thanks to you i truly mean it when I say my drawings haven’t looked better thank you so much
Teach me bout ur artstyle! Im extremly inspired
Ahh this was so nice and inspiring to see your art journey
oh my gosh i havent even finished watching the video but the jump in quality from age 13-15!! my art isnt as good as that yet im only 14 but jeez even that art is really good! your newer art is even more amazing and so good! ive been in artblock for a long time but now im slowly crawling out of it. i hope i can be as good as you!
OMG canal Panda 🐼 na televisão! This detail brings me so much memories xD
It's great watching how you've improved over the years! This also shows us that doing what we love makes us who we really are. I also love your art 🫶🏻
4:11 OMG THATS WADANOHARA!!!!! Im a massive DSP/funamusa fan teehee :3
Can we all agree that she looks like blossom in power puff girls and i am early💙
4:02 Sylveon looks very cute!
7:07 OMG YOUR AMY DRAWING IS JUST TOO CUTE 😭😭💖
só queria dizer que fico feliz de ver uma artista portuguesa com sucesso :) inspiras-me! xoxo
I love you’re art, especially the style. You definitely inspire me
4:12 by any chance did u like okegom in 2014❓❓
The one of Madoka and kyubey made me so happy😊 I used to love the anime, I have my own kyubey plush, and kyubey is my Japanese name!❤
Thank you.❤❤
IM SUPER LATE BUT OMG 8:25 ITS MY FANART!! YAAYYYY ✨✨✨💜💜💜
I apsolutely love your new style I personally preffer more simple styles and I love your us of colour and I always love art with nice colours because I know how hard colour theory can be
Bro wth i wish I could draw SKETCHES like you draw, cant even talk about the whole piece at the end. Its perfect
I doodle from time to time in my childhood. Grade 7 is where I took drawing seriously and I've improved over the years and I'm proud
man this motivates me to keep going I glad you shared your progress!
The queen has come so far
I love your new artstyle!! Its very very cuteee❤
your an inspiration Mari! this video really hit home for me. and it inspires me to keep going with what I want to do as a career one day. love your art hun
you give me so much hopes , i allways tough that because of my portuguese nacionality i would never be able to earn money drawing (idk why tbh) but when i find your channel and i saw that your portuguese i start to understand that my nacionality is not something that have to forbid me to follow my dreams and its a thing that i have to be proud of ❤
I gald i picked marikyuun art style its perfect!
You inspired me and courage me to draw I thank for how much tips you have gaven me
Woah I love your arts ! :)) I want to be like you one day!
Downloading anime illustration? Saaame! Aaah when art community was much friendlier n healthier.... I miss those days
A tua arte é incrível! Tu inspiras me bué. Obrigado!!
You're one of the people that inspire me in heart
ur voice is so soothing to listen n i love ur artwork!
