  • Have they got everything you have been looking for? Will these take over the SxS market? We review the MRT Desert Storm UTV tire in a 35 x 10 x 15. These 35's have been awesome. Put your questions in the comments and I will do my best to answer them.

    I didn't even see this vid had finally come out. Thank you very much for your opinion. I have not yet read the comments, but how do you feel this would slow, or fast, climb sharp, jagged rock, both large and small? Say, compared to Rockzillas or XTR 370's? Compared to my 370's I'm preferring the light weight of the Desert Storms as well as the sidewall strength.
    I've got sidewall splits on 2 of them and had a corner tread plug compromise the tire completely, but to get the life from them I added a serious patch using the 3m rubber glue and a separate patch from another tire sidewall and coupled that with an inner tube and it's held up so I got full life out of that tire. Time for new ones now...

    • @Bizill75
      @Bizill75 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, did you get a chance to measure them, mounted with a given psi, like 10 or whatever you're used to? Everyone claimed 370's are a true 35 but I found them to measure out to 34" mounted to a heavy KRX 1000 with 10 psi. Thanks.

    • @GrimRZR
      @GrimRZR  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as a tough tire, this is it. No issues with tread coming off or sidewall punctures. On rocks I would say I liked them better than the 370's I ran but not as good as a Roxxzilla. If you measured them to the crest of the tire they were 35 off the machine.

  • @RealEstateWealthCoaching
    @RealEstateWealthCoaching ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I know the top tires that are always most popular are the Zilla's and 370's. I noticed the other day that MRT came out with the X-ROX. Wondering what your opinion of those would be? On their website a 35"sticky is around $480 compared to say a Zilla for $380 and 370 for $280.

    • @GrimRZR

      @@GrimRZR It seems everyone runs Zila's on all the videos I watch regardless of the type of terrain. Word is that they have weaker sidewall and wear out faster. Assuming you cant go wrong and ini the end, they all probably do well regardless.

    I will add a review - it's long but hopefully it will help. I recently purchased a used XP Pro with 32" Zillas on 15" bead locks with 5x2 offset. Still getting use to going from a quad then to a 2021 Cam Am Commander for 18 mths to now a more powerful RZR. After watching this vid and chatting with Grim RZR, I decided to get the MTR DS 32x9.5 R15s on new 4x3 offset bead locks. They are lighter than the Zillas - but only by 1 1/2 lbs - 58lbs for the Zillas and 56.5lbs for the DS both on 15" beadlocks. We take trips to H&M in WV twice a year and ride 75% fast trail riding and the other 25% on the blacks which are usually steep rocky climbs. We tend to stay away from the double blacks like the trails Grim RZR and others hit - just not our style. So I was looking for a tire that would do 'well' on rocky climbs and 'great' on normal trails. I didn't get to do an A to B comparison in H&M with the two sets, but here is what I observed. Testing the RZR around home on the Zillas, I noticed when trail riding the back end would spin out really easy - with the power of the XP Pro and the tread pattern of the Zillas allowing it to slide left and right easily, it didn't take much to have the back end come around if not careful. I put the MTRs on and headed to WV. On high speed trial rides, the MRTs seemed to allow me to break the rears loose on turns as needed without spinning out. As soon as I lifted off the gas, they would hook up and push me forward...for me it was the perfect amount of control. I felt the tires responded VERY well to throttle input and never seemed on the edge winding around turns. We did some of the rocky hill climbs and some nice steep wet/muddy trails where you needed to crawl bc no room to get a run and even with a 9.5" vs a 10" tire, I never once felt any slipping...again, in complete control. Even on some steep coal hills with very loose traction, these went right up without spinning out. On the rutted trails I purposely tried to get these tires to slip down in the ruts and/or off the side walls of the trails, but as Johnny said, the lateral traction on these are great and they hold the line you want. Now I do feel these tires ride a little rough. The side walls are firm. Even with 8psi in front and 9psi in rear, the tires don't look low...in fact, I think I'll go even lower next trip. I have 29x9.5-15Rs Carnivores on the Commander, and at 10psi all around, the ride is much smoother and the tires look a little on the low side. Again, getting use the machine and added width, I did clip a few stumps and rocks - one hard hit on right front which concerned me - left a nice wound mark on the bead lock but not even a small crease in the sidewalls of the MRTs, proof to me these sidewalls will hold up to abuse. All in all, I am super happy with the purchase and change...maybe later I will do some A-B comparisons, but right now, this is all I have to offer.

    • @GrimRZR
      @GrimRZR  ปีที่แล้ว

      Appreciate it. You could go lower on tire pressure if you stayed on slower riding but I probably wouldn't go much lower for fast stuff

    • @jte-cr5sv
      @jte-cr5sv ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GrimRZR Good feedback. Yeah, not sure I'd want to go much lower as well. And the tires did great at that pressure for all our terrain, so don't need to fix what's not broken. If I get the itch to try some double blacks, can always drop a few psi then air back up after I get rolled back over off my top and get off that trail!!! LOL.

    I was wondering if anyone has tried any of our Toyo Open Country or Nitto Trail Grappler SxS tires?

      The nittos are just now getting popular around here. Probably just starting to become more available but lots of my friends are trying them out. Maybe soon for me.

      @Grim RZR I really wish I had more knowledge to compare them to, but I really think they could compete for best all around tire. I put probably 1k miles on my 32s and I've done about 150 or 200 miles on the 35s. Never flat, no punctures, no torn tread, great tread life on or off road, quiet on the road, digs in mud, grabs on rock, and a smooth ride. If you get a chance, you have to test them out. For the price, I don't think it is possible to beat them.

I have 35” zillas and want to keep them for southern trails and get another set to swap out 32” (don’t really need 35” for Hatfield) was thinking these or the 450’s. Any advice be very helpful.
