Thanks so much for an excellent and very informative video on this model. I ordered one, then thought it didn't have a sleep timer! The instruction manual you showed at the beginning confirmed that it did, thank goodness! It's just the ideal radio and MP3 Player for me, which I want to use as a bedside unit to help me get to sleep, and I'm now looking forward to getting it. Thanks for the comprehensive and in depth review you gave!
Yes . I bought a red one last day. Can't believe that much loudness without a bit distortion comes from this tiny one . Using it only for listening FM that works great. Thanks todderbert
Ordered one, yesterday, on the strength of this review; a blue one cost me $13.14- the red one was $1 more. Amazon was almost out of stock at that time, about a dozen of each color. It's amazing how much you can get for so little money; about what going to a tavern for a cheeseburger and a bottle of suds would cost. Thanks for describing a protected battery vs cheaper LiOn and batteries. Couldn't find a protected Tenergy 18650 anywhere, however. FM and MP3 is fine, I use my big old GE Superadio or Panny 2200 for AM anyways, can't fit a 200mm ferrite or Gyro in this little guy. To people who think this radio is ugly, check out the blue and red colors instead, they really look decent, IMHO. Thanks for the tip, Todd
I have four of these W405s and they are terrific. The sound is surprisingly good. I use it for loop playing of MP3s and I recommend using Samsung's Endurance Pro micro SD card for continuous playing (cheaper cards will eventually fail in these units). I also like that if you pull the battery out and use it plugged in to a wall switch, when turned back on it starts playing w/o the need to push any buttons on the unit. Unfortunately, Amazon is no longer selling this version of the radio. The only thing that could make this better is adding a Bluetooth 5.0 feature so I can listen using my Air Pods.
Look at Rolton W505 (on ali) which is same but with lesser energy taking LCD and some more info on it. With 18650 3400 mAh it probably works ~4 times longer. Liittokala has NOPCB+pin compatible batteries. Also instead of that p in can be tried magnets from small earphones, for more common NOPCB battery without a p in.
After reading your review 2 weeks ago, I went to buy myself one. This is really a very good buy, in terms of price and performance. I attach it to my desktop speakers via the 3.5mm audio output and it works beautifully. Reception is good in my room. The original 1500mAh Rolton 18650 battery can last about 6 hours of play. I just bought a 3400mAh Panasonic 18650 battery, let's see how long it can last.
Downside: no night clock option. I m searching for the market and nobody makes the model that would have 1) digital clock visible by night, 2) torch 3) radio WITH analog volume button and possibly analog tuning or reachable channels with 0-9 buttons 4) small
Great radio! not a pleasing looks but a good quality ingredients... yeah it's like a food that has no pleasing looks but taste really good..haha amazing ROLTON! HOPEFULLY THEY MAKE GOOD LOOKING RADIOS..
