Shiki is the first one who escaped from impel down, he was first mentioned in Impel Down, Captain John is the one who buggy searches for his treasure, and whang xhi was the one who was a main player in the rocky port incident in which law, bb and Koby teamed up during the time skip to defeat him at Hachinosu
Captain John was FIRST mentioned after Arabasta Arc during the episode where Buggy 1st met with Ace. Buggy was searching for Captain John's treasure. And YES, during Impel Down Arc, Luffy gave his GLASS arm band to Buggy because that arm band was Captain John's and it contain a clue or map to the hidden treasure. We also already met or saw Captain John during Thriller Back Arc. Captain John was one of Moria's Special Zombie. This was also the reason why or how Luffy got Captain John's arm band. It was one or part of Moria's treasure.

Personal opinion obviously, but I think it's probably the best backstory. Robin, Brook, and Law all have amazing backstories, but Oden's is my favourite, because of how expansive it is. It's like watching a different show, One Piece prequel 😂

It's worth noting, that Blackbeard's current hideout is Fullalead, the same place where the Rocks pirates were, and also, blackbeards ship is called "The Sabre of Xebec," named presumably after Rocks D. Xebec.
Akainu did NOT say screw Wano. Both last episode and this episode literally spell it out for us that Marine/Navy DIDN'T have ENOUGH forces to spare to deal with BM and Kaido's alliance since they already moved to capture the 7Warlords. DO NOT FORGET that 7warlords alongside the Marine Headquater and the Yonkou are the World 3 Great Powers. This mean that to deal with 7warlords, the Marine had to give everything they had. And since Wano is NOT part of the World Government and the Marine also lack enough forces to spare to deal with BM and Kaido, it was smart and logical move for Sakazuki to pursue the matter.
Regarding Shanks "not doing anything," remember Shanks is the one we have to thank for the fact Kaidou didn't show up back in Marineford for the Paramount War. 😉 You also saw him casually clash with Whitebeard, a long while back. At the very least you can safely assume by now he's no fraud.

yeah i agree. it's not like 1+1=2. i mean if they are now an alliance, it doesn't mean there is no indication that they don't compete or hate each other. in a power struggle like this there are no forever enemies and friends. what drives them is interest. The same thing also applies to the relationship between WB and roger or WB joining the rock pirates
It is reasonable to think that they were fierce rivals at best. The navy makes it sound like they were mortal enemies, which it didn't really seem like for me either.

It's especially visible during the upcoming backstory where a teen Marco (at most 203 cm) is hulking over Toki (190 cm) while being depicted as almost as tall as Oden (382 cm).
when kaidou first appears... trying to kill himself by jumping off a sky island... he talks about whitebeard death.. in a way it implies they were close at some point... kinda foreshadowing this relationship...

Gomu Gomu no.... The thing about Sengoku is that he knows that Gol D Roger is his name, but still calls him Gold Roger. Although we can't see the text on the wanted poster, it's safe to assume that it says Gold Roger. Sengoku is not willing to be completely forthcoming to this group of Navy Officers despite the fact that he wants to help them understand a bit about the past. So Sengoku's telling of the God Valley incident might be the "Gold Roger" version of what happened there as opposed to the "Gol D Roger" version, which is not quite the same. Shanks being an Emperor of the Sea for six years is worth noting as well. What propelled him to be considered one? Like you guys said, this is a hype episode but it creates many questions with very few answers.

Who did he took over the title from or was the 4 emperors and seven warlords established only within this decade?🤔 We know that the 3 powers balanced the seas etc. I may have missed out on some details since it’s been a while on this topic.
The emperor of the sea probably only become a thing after Roger started the great age of pirates, when upstart pirates started flooding the grandline. The WG dubbed the strongest of those the emperors because they control islands and do as they like, it most probably started as WB, BM and Kaido then Shanks came in and take territories too and establish himself
There really is nobody better than Fujitora to replace Akainu as Fleet Admiral. Maybe someone like Smoker or Koby(when he's ready), but the Navy needs to be run by people like them. Not a lapdog to the world government like Akainu.

Never understand why ANIME changed Akainu/Sakazuki and Kaido from the manga version.... In the manga, Akainu talk with Fujitora/Issho with very calm and friendly/"close" demeanor... Why the changes Toei?!! And sadly, this will NOT be the only time going forward in the anime... Also... In the manga, Akainu and Kaido rarely getting angry.or always grunting and shouting unlike the anime version. Back in the Marineford Arc, anime Akainu never had this problem/changes. But since anime's Wano Arc especially and so on, sadly Akainu always angry, grunting, shouting and burning stuffs.. Technically, when it come to Akainu, the anime starting to changed his character since Post-Timeskip, at the end of Dressrossa Arc when Akainu met with the Five Elders Star (Gorosei) to ask them about why Dofflamingo being able to use CP0 to trick the WHOLE World. In the anime, Toei made it seem Akainu got angry at the Five Elder Stars and arguing with them while in the manga Akainu did try to argue with The Five Elders BUT Akainu was very RESPECTFUL and did NOT raised his voice too much.. Akainu also have got a lot of respect and friendship with other admirals more importantly with Kizaru and Fujitora. He also respect Sengoku as his former boss/leader despite Sengoku already retired and Sengoku was the one that TROLLING Akainu since Akainu became the Fleet Admiral. Just like Garp annoying Sengoku when Sengoku was a Fleet Admiral. I just cant understand WHY... Why Toei destroying both Akainu and Kaido in the anime? Kaido also lost many of his manga personality. Anime version always angry, grunting, shouting and destroying stuffs.. While the manga version was level-headed. Manga Kaido only becoming unpredictable or weird when he was VERY drunk. The anime Akainu and Kaido definitely LOST a lot of their cool and nuance... What a shame
