Hi Jessica, This is an EXCELLENT video for anyone and everyone! It demonstrates the simplicity and elegance of basics AND statement pieces worn in cute, chic, and beautiful ways-NOT that these outfits werel BASIC in any way…they are just all do-able, wear-able, and available in many people’s closet right now! I love your “formulas” because with little tweaks and additions, they will work for anyone! There is an art in your styling, and in your “formulas” that guides, inspires, and gives me the tools to wear my clothes with confidence, all while retaining my own sense of self-expression! I love your “formulas” because with little tweaks, they will work for anyone! AND, you don’t skimp on finishing touches and alternate suggestions….that helps me to bring my outfit together and add my own aesthetics and preferences as well! and I LOVE that!! So many of the core pieces can be found at your local thrift stores as well! As for “statement” pieces-thrifting is the often the best way to go-often totally one-of-a-kind! (However, do you find it is almost impossible to find really cute dresses at the “Thrift” lately?! I am sure in a year or two there will be a great many finds at Goodwill because dresses are so IN right now-but I can’t help drooling over some of the new dresses that are coming out! My ANSWER has been to make small alterations to the dresses I do find -such as adding elastic, unique belts (Definitely from the thrift store for $2!) and layering!But, in the end, I have given in and bought 2 new dresses that are beautiful, but I bought them on sale-$20 each!). THANK YOU for this video-You MAKE ARE A GIFTED TEACHER! Also, it seams to me that you are incredibly comfortable in your new location-you seem so relaxed and HAPPY!! One of the best I've seen! Thank you for breaking it down so well. It's hot enough here to not want layers this summer but I wasn't really sure how to approach my wardrobe choices for the coming season. I've already watched 10 plus videos today and wasn't really happy with what I'd seen. I generally use basic pieces so I was pleased to see your use of statement tops and bottoms. So simple but really so profound! It really takes the outfits up a notch without adding on layers. Thank you!

I like the linen capris because it airy and above ankles vs even thinking about putting on jeans if it hot. I have thrifted quite a few flowy jumpsuits but have not worn any of them because the pant leg would be too much in my way if I am doing chore type errands out or chores at home. I would call these outfits, not formulas. I learned this as a formula: base layer (dress, jumpsuit, or top and pants), completer piece (jacket, cardigan, or vest -- optional), underpinnings (underwear), and accents (shoes, belt, bag, jewelry, scarves). One or two of these working together must create a focal point: could be color or pattern in the base layer or completer piece or an accent piece or two. By the way, these are great outfits in your video. I really like that you dress in very wearable clothes and look put together - and that your dresses aren't super short.

Question: I love your style, and you have a very similar body type to mine. However, I see you pulling off high-waisted bottoms in a way I struggle to effectively do. I'm not sure if you have a short torso and you do not (I do, and my large bust really doesn't help), or I am missing something. How do busty petite ladies wear high waisted bottoms without looking like a pair of boobs that sprouted legs? I feel like my entire mid-section gets erased by those looks, though I don't see that as apparent on you.
Not that you’re asking me and I don’t have your body shape but being petite, there are some basic tips that I think would help you as well. First, wear a top with a higher neckline. That will create the look of a longer torso and balance out the longer bottom/legs appearance. Second, wear a belt to create a visual break between the top and bottom. That will also draw the eyes to the smaller point of your body and give a bit more shape. Third, wear a top that is not too form-fitting which could help visually hide a larger bust. Of course this may mean wearing a more slim high waisted bottom so the whole outfit does not look too messy. I hope these tips help!!
