Thank you for your inspiration! I am a 64 year old nurse and have worn scrubs for 43 years. Clothes are such a creative form of self expression. Your video sharing has inspired me to look at my closet differently and recreate what I have. My style words are classic, comfortable and creative. I love easy basics with that little touch of self expression that evokes a memory and feeling of a person or a place. Keep up the good work as we strive to live simply and joyfully❤️ Karen from Kentucky
Same. I wear blue scrubs every work day. I call them my "work pajamas". Sometimes I feel very disconnected from fashion. I fall back on jeans and a t-shirt out of decision fatigue. I also have made many bad impulse purchases out of desperation to break out of my slump. Still trying to figure it out my style. I know it's not frills and lace!
As a 58 y.o who has always appreciated seeing well-styled individuals, I grew up not really knowing how to achieve the right style for my body shape and individual aesthetic. TH-cam has been a revelation for me! Thank you for sharing your incredibly helpful style advice and always being true to your values of creative and sustainable slow fashion - I have learned so much from you Alyssa. No wonder your mum is very proud of your achievements, as we, your community, are too.
Alyssa, I have been watching you for years but I seldom comment, but today I wanted to make sure that I did. I have watched many fashion bloggers on TH-cam through the years but I always come back to you. Yours is my very favorite channel and I've learned more about wardrobe creativity from you than anyone! You have really helped me understand slow fashion and it makes me realize I've always been drawn to it. I have a very strong sense of my own personal style and now I feel such freedom to express that! Thank you so much for being my favorite style/fashion TH-camr! Also, I have a Monica Vinader necklace that I adore, thanks to your recommendations!
Totally agree! I love how you simplify with explanation, without being overwhelming, which I notice in most fashion videos, it’s like I feel most video rush and at the end of the video my mind goes blank.
Fashion needs to be described and interpreted for those of us who aren’t native speakers. That’s something you do very well, Alyssa! You are masterful at explaining what guides your decisions, selections, exclusions. That’s a talent in itself! Thanks, as always, for sharing!
I agree with all the “never” combo wears. You just know when you look in the mirror that something is off and you addressed this beautifully. Rather than abandon the outfit I will now know how to tweak it. Always something to learn from your channel.
1. Two or more out of my comfort zone outfits worn together. 2. Head to toe basics that are NOT styled. 3. Overall silhouette that that does not have balance (like loose top + loose bottom) or there is no place for the eye to land. 4. Too much skin ( like low cut top and very short skirt) 5. Head to toe trends (no personality).
I just said out loud “ so cute!” I love how you tweaked the navy button up with the black trousers! Lately, I’ve been allowing for extra dressing time to make sure I feel comfortable and stylish - that is where the creativity comes thru. I received compliments when I layered a beaded labradorite necklace with two pendant necklaces. Monica Vinader is on my wish list, but you’ve inspired me to be thoughtful, bold, and try new combinations with my own jewelry collection
You and your content are the reason I learned to be mindful about my clothing and that led to loving my clothes! I feel confident in my choices now, more certain that the pieces I choose to wear reflect who I am and want to be. Thanks to your guidance, encouragement, and inspiration, I have been able to elevate my look. Feels great! I look forward to future evolution, so appreciate you!
As someone else's proud mama, I feel honored to post right after your own. I really liked this video and that you gave us visuals either through your own clothes or a photo. I would love to see more of "what I'll never wear." It would also be fascinating to follow along as you went on a slow fashion shopping excursion with a voice over of your thoughts on pieces that would you choose or pass on. Congratulations on a job well done!
I agree with you on all points 👍 Whenever something doesn’t feel good it’s almost always for one of these reasons which is so interesting when you are conscious of it. You and the other lovely people I follow on TH-cam like Signe and Emma Hill have really opened my eyes to it and it really helps to fight the feeling I-have-nothing-to-wear. I hope you are having a lovely wonderful summer ☀️
Having watched your channel for a couple of years now, I have really absorbed your lessons on wardrobe creativity. Mostly this summer, I have tried new ways to wear the clothes I like the best and followed your advice on balance and experimentation to get the right looks! I've hardly bought a thing and am so happy about it! I only give up on awkward pieces if I have tried many ways to style but truly nothing works. And I still have plenty! Even for we older gals, your style ideas are terrific!
Congratulations Alyssa on 200 000+ subs, so well deserved. You are the very best of YT. Todays video was an eye opener for me. Thank you, for all of your very hard work, amazing content and dedication to slow fashion and getting the message out there 👏 💝 Much respect from Australia 🇦🇺
I enjoyed the sounds of the birds chirping. It drove my cat nuts though. You looked so uncomfortable in many of your non-combos. This really helped me hone in on what’s not right about certain outfit combos. I often see very young women wearing the skin showing top to bottom and the tight fitting clothes top to bottom. I always smile and give these young women some grace because I remember being young and in shape and thinking I needed to show off. Whenever I see a young woman wearing a more balanced outfit I’m always impressed.
You just can't help it can you? Teaching in the most brilliant of method. I was thinking how is she going to pull this one out, then A bell went off when you explained why I feel so uncomfortable! I have often forced myself to run back in the house and swap one piece out as we are leaving! There is an elevated level of anxiety, but I could never understand why. I GET IT NOW! And, I now know how to problem solve thanks to this premiere of Combos I WILL Never Wear! YES to more sequels PLEASE! XO Ciao Oh that white button down grab the hem and cram in in the button gap with a twist technique, fabulous, mind blown...BRAVISSIMA!
I loved this video! Now I'm inspired to try some new combos in my closet. I love your first example about head to toe romantic and flowy. The contrast you created gave the outfit edge and more interest. I needed this tip!
Hi Alyssa, Sadly yes... I think alot of people have those pieces that when you put them on it like so boring or so just off. I really could identify with all of your "nots" but especially 1, 3 and the last one. The mosquito problem is forcing a very covered summer here in Alberta. The white shirt was so boring without the effort and it is a fab piece! Thanks for the real research on this one! The jewellery items are grand! The bangels and pearls! Xo ♥️👖Joanne
Hi Joanne!! I thought you would like this line of jewelry!! I'm sorry about the mosquito problem - got to stay covered for sure! Hope you're having a wonderfully Canadian summer xox
Your philosophy and execution are inspiring, and I appreciate not being so trendy! I love your 3 word concept and have been trying to really find just the right words. I think mine is similar to yours, but a different color pallet! Thanks for sharing lots of content about what doesn’t work in addition to the successes.
I just found your channel and have binge watched pretty much all your videos - some I've watched more than once! I love the sense of individuality you seem to cultivate through your wardrobe. It's gotten me excited to shop my own wardrobe. Ciao from Montreal!
Wow, great content once again. As others have commented, I've been watching/following you for years, look forward to each video and always rely on your fashion wisdom. I admit, I do follow a few others, BUT primarily for what I see as how I don't want to dress or manage my closet. That said, this video sums it all up for me! All solid examples, i.e., 'guidelines to dress by.' Thank you again...so well done, Alyssa!
Alyssa. All of these make sense! If you have a decent eye when your clothes are on and you take a critical look in the mirror, you should be able to tell when things just don’t look “right”. It happens… you put on a top and a bottom and the proportions just don’t look right. So you start over😊. Good reminders for all of us. These ARE kind of rules to make your outfit work!
Great video!! You have really inspired me to let go of so many items in my closet that I have been holding on to. They weren't working for me and I did not feel like myself in them. Really trying to scale down and you are a true inspiration!! Thank you!!
Congratulations on hitting 200,000 subscribers. You remain my favourite TH-camr, bar none. Great advice today. I don't think I had ever thought about it that way but it made sense. Thanks. ☺️❤️☺️
Also I agree not showing skin from head to toe, I'm a aquare shape body and My arms are big si I don't use sleeve less top. Since My 14 years never wear tank tops with my strong shape arms. And I prefer MIDI skirts
I love your videos and style advice! Thank you! Your video on packing to live in Europe was great. Many of us are traveling now and my struggle is to use carry on luggage only with a maximum of three pairs of shoes only including the ones on my feet. Could you do a video of how to pack for a multi-activity trip only using minimal items while staying true to your three descriptive words? Please
You have taught me so much and made me make the most of what I have. I shop less and dress better. I have a simplied wardrobe but it works. Today's video has reinforced all of this.
Brava, Alyssa! Thanks for the Monica Vinader information - I just got my Mother Pearl pendant... I enjoy each of your video so much, and I am "growing up" with you 😘💖🌲
First outfit: flowy skirt and flowy blouse - I had something similar myself. If I wear a blouse that has this type of sleeves it seems all the weight is concentrated on the middle of the body and the waist gets lost. And the soft color does not help to create contrast. Whereas the outfit with tight (at least at the hips) gives a nice contrast- exactly as you say
Dear Allysa, you are going realy fantastic job! Since I have my 3 words, I know how to style my outfits, how to wear everything from my wardrobe. All your videos are so helpfull. Perfect style accademy. With love from Czech Republic. 💃
Just got back from work and so happy to sit down and really enjoy your video, I agree that complete head to toe fitting clothes is not a very interesting look.
Hi Alyssa! Love your videos and your insightful content; have learned so much from your uncomplicated approach to finding one's unique style. Would please consider doing a video that outlines your top, say, 5-10 styling tweaks that you use on yourself and clients "on repeat" because they are so tried and true in helping put together intentional outfits? The best 'finishing touches', so to speak, for "beginners". Although I think that with your guidance I've become better at finding my style uniform that represents the authentic me at work and at play, I still struggle with knowing when/how/why to (say) cuff a shirt and what methods to try when doing so, for example. As a petite woman this is also a bit challenging because many times I try something I've seen you do in your videos and it doesn't work for me; probably because I have a completely different body shape and proportions to your willowy, beautiful and tall frame. I think you may have covered this or a similar topic in an earlier video, however, it would be good to have a refresher, especially post-pandemic as many of us are rebalancing to a new WFH timetable with much more relaxed clothing but may still want to look polished. If you could do one or more covering what the different body types should be looking to refine at this final stage of completing an outfit, that would be super helpful. Thank you for providing intelligent and authentic content and a beautiful community of inclusive viewers x😄
I really enjoyed that. Great reminders and a great way to think about how to combine pieces that suit my style. And YES to the examples! Super helpful.
Love the outfit combinations and transformations! I feel that you give me permission to play with and tweak my wardrobe to create new looks. Thank you!
Loved this! Such good advice. I always enjoy your videos and appreciate the focus on sustainability and curating the classics that will stand the test of time.
Sound almost like that game I will never -------- and if you have, you take a sip. lol! The blouse with the silky skirt just looked so back in the day of going to the office with an A-line skirt and a flouncy blouse. So there was some pretty good tips. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
CONGRATS! loved hearing the birds cheer you on! I like A-line pieces so my tops are always quite form fitting..I would never wear oversized tops with billowy sleeves (unless tucked in). Living O/S must agree with you, you look very tanned and very slim (where did your hips go??) ENJOY!! thanks as always!
Another informative video with great suggestions. I'm a work in progress & find your content extremely helpful.... BONUS in this one (and others) is your background & sounds. Beautiful! And congratulations on your 200k!!!
I love how your outfits look tucked in with that awesome brown belt but I have problems with this. I have broad shoulders so I need to buy tops big enough to fit there. But my waist is small and then I widen out again at the hips. When I try to tuck I just feel like there’s too much bunching. It doesn’t feel comfortable and I don’t like how it looks. Could you maybe do a video on how different body types can deal with this?
Ok this is a really good suggestion that I want to take the time to do properly! Do you like the look of a belt tucked and want to figure out how to make it work for your body? Or would you prefer other alternatives?
@@AlyssaBeltempo , so sorry for the slow response.......been busy! I think both ideas are great. In my case, what I feel to be the problem is that with the lower waisted jeans that have been in style until recently, the area where my belt would come was smack dab between the smallest part of my waist and my wider hips (I have a longish torso). So the belt doesn't sit nicely (and the shirt feels bunchy as I mentioned). I'm one of those people that (almost) all pants are too big in the waist (in order to fit my hips) so I need a belt. But since I don't feel the belts look right I wear the 'invisible belts' that lay nice and flat and always leave my tops untucked. I'm trying to get more on board with just the front tuck on occasion but am trying to reconcile my logical self that thinks that''s illogical (even though I like how it looks on others)! Anyway! With the waistline of pants getting higher, I think this will be less of a problem. But in keeping with slow fashion and not wanting to go buy a bunch of new (higher waisted) pants, I'm trying to work with what I have. On that note though, I only shop thrift stores so I have less guilt about acquiring 'new' items. Sorry for the long winded answer!! Thanks for your interest in this problem! :)
Love love this, thank you! In 10mins I’ve realised why I’m a little bored with my wardrobe… I’m making a few of those mistakes! 🤦♀️ Now to try it out with a (much) curvier body. Btw - I love your three words. They resonate so much with me too. And I’d be lost without a good button up!
I purchased the Siren Muse ring in silver and it is awesome! Also considering stack rings in the three different tones - rose, yellow gold and silver. I love these tips and can see why some of my outfits in the past have been off.
I’ve just started watching your channel & I found your assessment of balancing an outfit - to be very on point. As an artist, I often draw a small top & wide base (or vs) bringing the outfit into harmony - shape being the 1st thing people perceive - before color, pattern, etc.. Do you already have a video on how to use your hairstyle & hair shape in balance with your different outfits? I’d be very interested in your opinion on the contributions of hair silhouette. Thank you for your time & videos.
1. Your "nevers" indicate that you know yourself and your style well, so it's okay to say probably never. 2. You have a lovely figure that I know you work for, so I am not surprised that you don't want to hide it under baggy clothes. 3. Those birds, OMG, I hope you are okay! 😅
Amazing, thank-you! I’m 4ft 11 and petite but i really need help styling, sometimes i buy the wrong pieces and have not had proper guidance to what actually suits me, I’m 44 and think i look fairly young, but not sure about dressing your age, i still want young and fresh……..any thoughts?
From your proud mamma....auguri.. congratulations on 200k....your hard work and creativity shines through on each video! Bravissima!!🤗🥰
Ahhhh hi mom !!! I love you ❤️😘
That's so sweet. Got to cheer on our babies.
🎉Congratulations 🍾
You did a great job...Mrs. Beltempo! Your daughter's kindness just shines through all her vlogs!🙌🙌🙌
Ohh love your comment to your daughter..I have been watching her for years and the updates to her videos and her style I love 🥰

I feel you about the scrubs! RN here, have to make a special effort to NOT have a home uniform as well!
Same. I wear blue scrubs every work day. I call them my "work pajamas". Sometimes I feel very disconnected from fashion. I fall back on jeans and a t-shirt out of decision fatigue. Ah Catherine! Thank you for the kind comment and for being here! It means a lot ❤️❤️
I agree with you, Catherine. I'm over 50 and I have searched "how to dress over 50" etc. Alyssa works for every age. So I keep coming back.
Totally agree! I love how you simplify with explanation, without being overwhelming, which I notice in most fashion videos, it’s like I feel most video rush and at the end of the video my mind goes blank.
I agree I love the detailed analysis that goes into the process. I'm a new fan, and I have watched maybe 8 hours in a few days.
@@VixVida oh wow thank you so much! Welcome!
Fashion needs to be described and interpreted for those of us who aren’t native speakers. That’s something you do very well, Alyssa! You are masterful at explaining what guides your decisions, selections, exclusions. That’s a talent in itself! Thanks, as always, for sharing!
Wow this is such high praise and encouragement which I take to heart. I'm so glad you find my content helpful! xx
You're so right and well said!
I agree with all the “never” combo wears. You just know when you look in the mirror that something is off and you addressed this beautifully. Rather than abandon the outfit I will now know how to tweak it. Always something to learn from your channel.
Ahhh thank you Sheree so glad you took something away from today's video xx
I’m totally like you! Give me silk, but with denim. Give me a blazer, but with linen. Give me basics with luxury.
Loving your back drop in this video. Even if my style isn’t as chic as yours, your tips still relate and you make them easy to understand and achieve.
1. Two or more out of my comfort zone outfits worn together.
2. Head to toe basics that are NOT styled.
3. Overall silhouette that that does not have balance (like loose top + loose bottom) or there is no place for the eye to land.

Yes this tucking and belt tricks for bodytypes, I ’m so in!
Bang on as usual…love your videos 💙💙💙
Thank you so much 💗
Another lens to look at our wardrobe and outfits through, thank you for sharing. ☺️
Love love this, thank you!
In 10mins I’ve realised why I’m a little bored with my wardrobe… I’m making a few of those mistakes! 🤦♀️
Now to try it out with a (much) curvier body.
Btw - I love your three words. They resonate so much with me too. And I’d be lost without a good button up!
Hi Alyssa, great thought process on styling! And I love Monica Vinader jewelry as I own earrings and bracelets ! ❤️🇨🇦
Ahh so good yes!! ❤️
I purchased the Siren Muse ring in silver and it is awesome! Also considering stack rings in the three different tones - rose, yellow gold and silver. I love these tips and can see why some of my outfits in the past have been off.
Ahhh I'm so glad you found them helpful! I hope you enjoy those new pieces!! xo
Great video! Love the location. Congrats on 200k! You deserve it!
Thank you Eugenia that means a lot :) Thank you for being here! xx
Loved these examples! Very helpful
Loved this video..the jewelry pieces are gorgeous

Great tips! I’m glad I’m not doing any of this 😆. The birds in the background really want a part of this vid🤪

Such sound thinking - thank you!
Congrats on 200k😍
Great video and content! You really are a great stylist/teacher :)
1. Your "nevers" indicate that you know yourself and your style well, so it's okay to say probably never. 2. You have a lovely figure that I know you work for, so I am not surprised that you don't want to hide it under baggy clothes. 3. Those birds, OMG, I hope you are okay! 😅
Hahaha those birds!! Yes we managed to work something out in the end 😂
You've covered it all! 🤩
My 3 words are…Depends On the Day!
Mainly…chic, relaxed, timeless.
Hi Alyssa, I love the jeans you are wearing in this video. May I know where I can buy them? Thanks a lot.

It is secondhand! ❤️❤️
Ooooh, what are the light wash wide-leg jeans you're wearing at 6:49? They're exactly what I've been looking for!
Such a great video! What is the discount code? It’s my birthday & I would love to invest in a piece 🙏
Wow. These all sound like me too!😄
Amazing, thank-you! I’m 4ft 11 and petite but i really need help styling, sometimes i buy the wrong pieces and have not had proper guidance to what actually suits me, I’m 44 and think i look fairly young, but not sure about dressing your age, i still want young and fresh……..any thoughts?
A mum also…..lol
I'm also here for the birds
This place in background👌
