WOW, not only the Oilers made a beautiful comeback to take a W, but both Calgary and NY Rangers who were LA and Vegas’ opponents respectively, completely did us a favor by defeating them tonight. And if we win against LA on Monday, this could be a massive boost for us to secure our spot in a what has been a very stacked Pacific division 🫡 let’s get it on Monday and they better win since I’ll be attending 🥹🙏
@@connerbellhouse7901oh nice but I believe that game would be more expensive cuz it’s the Caps who only visits once a year and they have Ovi. I think it should be worth it regardless
Once they sweated out the hangover, the boys got going. (except Brown, who felt rather down, and played like a clown. He made his coach frown; then had to sit ‘til the final count down.)
It seems like to me that Oilers management saw this game as a throw away, I don't think snagging the victory was their primary goal. Or at least it seemed like they wanted to see what the bottom 6 could end up doing in the game, then sort of scooped in after the halfway mark to even things up and grab a victory. Podkolzin and Emberson really stepped up in this game, Janmark and Henrique did great, Draisaitl and McDavid started to take over in the later half so the game didn't get too out of hand. Kulak and Brown definitely had some pretty bad turnovers and Pickard really let a couple softies in I think he'd like back. I'm not usually one to pile on the goalies as GAA is a team effort, but a couple of those goals were due to playing the puck poorly on his part and just being too damn slow on reaction time. He redeemed himself in the later half, especially during the last minute during the pulled goalie plus penalty. Good to see the depth pulling through, which I do think was the point in this game, but it did show there is still some work to be done and some line shifting that still needs to take place to make it really gel together. I am thinking there is perhaps a need for another depth forward in this lineup now, and I am less concerned with the D core as I was before. But Kulak cost us in game 7, and here he is again falling back on some old habits, so he needs to double his effort if he wants to convince anyone is still deserves a spot in the top 4. Especially when you have Emberson having a stellar game like that, it makes you wonder if he should be moved down a pair.
Lessons somewhat learnt. START ON TIME VS LA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back to back games rhey been slow to start 😭 they do this every darn time they play bad teams. Oh well they actually came back this time.
Each Black Hawks goal features an Oiler player's name on it. Goals #1 and #2 were by Brett Kulak and goal #3 was by Connor Brown. Both played poorly in their zone. McDavid loses the puck in the offensive zone too often and creates turnovers. When McDavid's line is in attack mode, Hyman is next to the opposing goalie and is naturally the last one to return. That's why McDavid, as a center, should be able to return, and so should Nuge. I'm not too happy about this win in Chicago. With mediocre goaltending😂, the Oilers must control the puck better in their zone.
Game 42. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Chicago Blackhawks. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. Pickard started slow and really wanted the first 2 back I'm sure. The 3rd one, yeah, that was clean but he first two were bad. The boys seem to be having a problem starting on time as they don't tend to wake up until the 2nd period it seems (sometimes the 3rd period). They were ahead in faceoffs until the 3rd period. Per the stats, Oilers outshot Chicago by a lot (34 to 22), won fewer faceoffs (21 to 27), were outhit (18 to 27), had more giveaways (13 to 9), fewer takeaways (6 to 7) but more blocks (13 to 11). By the BASE numbers (not things like 5 alarm shots etc.) it was a close game and it was. The Oilers took the lead on the PP goal by Hyman and shut it down even though they faced over a minute of 6 on 4 at the end and Pickard had to make some great saves. Oilers PP and PK were both 100% (and Chicago's were both 0%). Not a lot of penalties (which seems to be more the norm for the Oilers these days). It's a Win, Play La Bamba Baby. On the plus side BOTH Vegas and LA lost tonight in regulation and the Oilers are now 2nd in the division by 2 points over LA (though LA has 2 games in hand) and are 4 back of Vegas (with same # of games played). We play LA next so that's a biggie. We win that we get some breathing room in 2nd. LA faces the Wild who can beat you. Chicago faces Calgary next (and Calgary were the ones that did us a HUGE solid by beating LA tonight with the Rangers beating VGK). Take care all.
Love the background but I heard from the oilers nation that they had something similar then they got talked to to stop. So as you get bigger, this might need to stop eventually? It’s great though!
yep! They had stated it in a show that they had jerseys, oilers merchandise and sometimes wore oilers merch and they got a communication to stop - it’s why their sets are not oilers related with oilers merchandise.
This was not a fun game at all to watch. Even though the oilers won they really really shouldn't have won with the lack of work ethic and not playing the full 60 minutes. I genuinely thought after the first period that this game was going to be 7-2 chicago. The oilers have to play way better than this or they'll get stomped out
Another +2 for Drai. He's now at a league leading +26. What an incredible season he's having in all aspects of the game.

I was gonna go to that game but I decided Washington instead because I grew up with a family that loved ovi and holtby

Awesome win tonight i went to the game Thursday against the penguins it was my first hockey game 🏑
Hey man, i think i brought them some luck, I walked in from work and the scored
Holy crap another terrible start to a game. Was looking like another Pittsburgh game. We seem to struggle more with teams lower in the standings.
Was Edmonton playing both Chicago and the Refs!

2 backup goalies ain’t gonna cut it

How Corey Perry isn’t on pp1 is beyond me, he seems tailor made to just set up and cash in with those golden mitts

Hope Oilers pull up their hockey pants for the LA game. Need a complete 60 min effort.
