Thank you! I absolutely love the concept of 360 degree videos, they’re so immersive and can really help more people experience a particular scene. It is, however, not very popular on TH-cam and harder to watch without any user input. There’s still a place for it, and if it increases in popularity maybe I’ll create some more.
I’m glad you enjoyed it! One of the more adventurous 360 videos, but hopefully it demonstrates just how much history is packed into such a small island!
Don’t know why I’ve not seen this video before, as I’m the military historian and acting Worden for Steep Holm Jess to compliment you on your video, which is the best regarding the military side of Steep Holm there is Clearly a lot of research was done pretty spot on just to say Beaufort antiaircraft guns, we’re not used on island. the air defence they used Z Rockets which we’re regarded as the next to useless . Victorian underground stores each gun contained two types, one contained the propellant cartridge store and those had wooden floors. The other one was the Shell store. Those had concrete floors. Excellent job like your channel, keep up the good work
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback, and especially from someone so closely linked to the island. It really is a special place, and despite spending 12 hours there it still didn't feel like enough. I was really experimenting with 360 video last year, and while the videos haven't got many views, I still think it's a great way to give an overview of places such as this. Thanks again.
Trips to both Steep Holm and Flat Holm can be arranged through Bay Island Voyages. Sailing from both Cardiff and Weston Super Mare. It's super easy, not the cheapest, but a great experience and you're free to wander the islands until the boat comes to take you back to the mainland. I know Flat Holm are accommodating if people want to camp overnight, but I've not done that yet. The boat company is nothing to do with the islands who are managed seperately.
Excellent. 360 camera footage is remarkable. I have only ever seen it before for a tour around an abandoned power station at Penemunde.
