I had a similar experience in Uzbekistan while crossing the border to Tajikistan. They didn't let me cross the border because I BROKE THE RULE OF REGISTRATION. Registration rule is VERY STRANGE in Uzbek also. They dont mention it anywhere in the e visa website/e visa u get or even when u enter the country. (I entered from Turkmenistan overland). I came to know about the rule from a blog but broke it knowingly. They kept me in a room in the Uzbek border for 3 4 hours and then a local friend of mine came to help.
Will make a video about it soon on my channel.
This was part of my overland hitchhiking journey from DUBAI TO KERALA.

I also want to add one thing, Office, embassy, police station ke chakkar katne ke bad when we finally got registration papers. But when I was was crossing the border ( Kyrgyzstan- Tajikistan), first they didn't ask my registration papers. After all the exit formalities, I was like itni mehnat ki registration papers nahi v mang rhe fir v Jabardasti dikhunga, I said to them, I also have registration papers and they told me, No need my friend. I was like itna homework kia koi fayda Nahi 😅

paji the best can India do... or ministry of foreign affairs can do is list each and every country requirements on one website, so that it is easy to verify or cross check the requirements before applying visa... In Australia, we have traveler website here for Australian passport holders where they can check requirements how safe the country is and what is to see there.... Hope someone from ministry read this... it will be a great help...

@Ashwin Nair the thing is in India people are naive thinking government is here to help, it's never been that. Governments are not here to help you, if that was the case India won't be called a third world country today with broken roads and broken system. It's always people vs government. But the governments want it to be people vs people. And sadly in india they have succeeded in doing so.

In india for foreigner "c" Form is compulsory to be filled by hotel and guesthouse... It's a one page form and online available on CID website and if any hotel is not register online with CID then hotel has to submit it offline with police station within 24 hrs and if hotel failed to do this then penalty is on hotel not on tourist.
So basically liability is on hotel not on tourist and it's totally free for all parties no fees by govt.

I think the underlying issue is what is in embassy's own control and what is not. But the least each Indian embassy can do, if it's not already there, is to provide on their own website all the dos and don'ts for Indians arriving in that country on various kinds of visas. They should also provide links to all importants guidelines/regulations by govt. of that country for tourists. Moreover, it is the responsibility of our embassy to keep track of every rule/regulation, and changes thereto, that may affect Indians visiting that country.

In fact I noticed that the Indian Embassy in Bishkek does provide this information - indembbishkek.gov.in/pdf/Notice.pdf Every Indian visitor to another country must go through information available on the Indian Embassy website for that country. It may not address all the issues but the visitor may well be better informed.

Of course this guy made a mistake, no denying in that but they should listen to him properly and understand under what circumstances was the mistake committed and solve the problem for him before giving gyan to him.
At the same time it is in Kyrgystan, where hardly any Indian goes for tourism so it's not like they are busy or anything at that embassy.
In another similar case, a Dutch woman was stuck in Peru where the Embassy of Netherlands solved the problem in less than 6 hours and got papers faxed from the Foreign Ministry of Netherlands in between those 6 hours and also sent security to protect the women as the locals were about to jump on her. Coming to this situation, they couldn't even help this distressing person even when he was present at the embassy, ready to pay the fine, let alone someone stuck somewhere.
The officers at this specific embassy need to be trained at distress handling because this man made a mistake and did not commit a crime (a crime in the court of law is intentional and mistake is unintentional regardless of the severity of them)

And I also appreciate your efforts to do things in not easy but in right way. It could be the easiest way if you simply offer bribe and get things done but you don't compromise your ethics for your sake of convenience. believe it or not but you were able tackle that situation because of our tremendous "mountain trekker family". and i am feeling proud to be unknowingly helpful. And also before traveling check the calendar of visiting country because sometimes due to holidays you can't register for your arrival and you could be in trouble. Also keep in mind most of the USSR countries have 5 working days and two weekend holiday on Saturday sunday so my advice is to schedule your ticket on week days.

Same with Indian embassies - why didn't the Indian officials help? Because they don't want to get involved in the local politics - some locals were making money and this Indian official will not stop them, just like in India. If you are a US citizen and the US embassy makes a noise, then the local police will shut down the local troublemakers immediately. Anyway, I thank this vlogger for alerting everyone.

99% tourist first checks Embassy website of their intrested countries (they want yo visit), and if every information related to tourism is listed there itself, in simple-clear language such situations could be avoided.
