New players started playing COD back in 2019 which split the community in half, now one side asks for older COD gameplay while another side asks for MW19 gameplay
Older CODs had faster ADS TIME, ADS MOVEMENT SPEED, STRAFE SPEED, JUMP SHOTTING ADS SPEED, NO UNLIMITED SPRINTING
Newer CODs have slower ADS TIME, Slower ADS MOVEMENT SPEED, SLOWER STRAFE, Jump shotting increases your Ads time, having unlimited sprinting but they also added newer stufd like Sliding, slide cancel, Tac Sprint

Also we don't need attachments to give all these different penalties. There is a reason why people were only playing with one gun and a specific set of attachments every game and that is because these guys over at IW thought that it should be that if you put certain attachments on your weapon, that you should have horrible stat debuffs.

I love MW2019’s movement, normally it feels slightly slow but if you know the tricks and learn the movement well you can make it much more fluid. It also feels like you have weight instead of feeling like you’re sheet of paper yet being so sluggish like in MW2022

It’s not the removal of slide canceling that was the issue, it’s that they made nearly every aspect of MW2 slower. Sprint out times, strafe speeds, and base movement speeds were nerfed to the ground. Nearly every attachment that gave movement had far too negative effects to ads speeds or recoil. There were huge penalties for jumping and footsteps were ridiculously loud making people not want to leave their safe spaces.

Pre slide cancel cod had really fast ads and strafe speed so we didn't really need slide cancels. But since mw 2019 they lowered the strafe speed so it became important to compensate with slide cancel. I think mw3 is good because the slide cancel isn't broken and the strafe doesn't seem to be too slow

The thing about side canceling is it just had never been done before. So people at first didn’t like it because it made people way too aggressive. The MW2 2022 movement really felt like it was designed more for their DMZ game mode. Which in my opinion was very underrated! It didn't work for multiplayer or Battle Royale because essentially the person sitting in a corner who got the first shot off would always win the gunfight which incentivized camping to the extreme. I would sometimes spectate a battle royale game after I died and literally just watch people sit in a bathroom ads on the door for upwards of 10 minutes straight without moving...
The reason it worked well for DMZ is because DMZ wasn't solely focused on PVP since you also had PVE elements and tasks around the map with the missions that you had to complete. And if you wanted the PVP you could.

When mw2 was going off realism upon launch, no slide cancel made sense. If you're sliding it would be significantly less efficient to try to stop rather than continue the slide.

Slide canceling makes it so much more fun and fluid and it’s really not hard to learn at all, if that creates a skill gap for you then that’s your own fault bc it’s the simplest thing to learn in the game besides literally aiming your weapon. Removing the slide canceling just made the game slow and clunky for what it was and all anyone ever did was camp in corners to compensate. This is much better bc now you have the 2 most loved additions to movement with the slide cancel and dolphin dive in 1 game and it just feels so fresh, fun, and fluid

Imo the movement of MW2019 made it so much more enjoyable. I used to be a pretty slow-paced player for a long time that disliked the blisteringly quick and aggressive speed but introducing this new ‘skill gap’ made it feel uniquely fresh. Being able to quickly traverse the map kept the action back-to-back and things like sliding, b-hopping, and other things allowed aggressive players to combat other playstyles instead of it being a who-saw-who-first type of situation every time. I slowly became a pretty aggressive player as I adapted to this new approach as it forced me out of my comfort zone and made me switch things up and improve as a player which, after I started doing better and better, was a very rewarding feeling.

MW2 had decent movement however making the maps so big meant that you couldn't really traverse the map quickly and flank so people would camp a lot. Snipers not flinching a lot when you get shot also made it worse imo. Ghosts had a similar issue because it had decent movement and gunplay but enormous maps.

Movement is important, but even more critical is good map design and time to kill. Part of the problem with MW 2019 was the giant maps with safe spaces and low time to kill, which made ot extremely campy and lowered the skill gap
